Gas Range Stove Knob easy repair (Kenmore Elite)

This is a repair hack for the knob on a gas range stove. Mine is a Kenmore Elite but would work for other stove knobs if mechanism is similar. It is for repairing the knob mechanism once it no longer functions in turning on the burner. Instead of buying an official replacement knob that for my stove cost $73 you can do for 5 cents.

I took the knobs off and soaked them. It seems like that internal piece must have come out then?? I never saw anything... So weird! I tried electrical tape, but that was too thick. The balloons were a great idea!!

Thanks I have the exact same model and I’m going to try this. However, I’m wondering if there might be a suitable replacement for the balloons that might last longer. cheers…

That would be good to look for something that lasts longer than the balloons as they do wear our. Good luck!
