- For a while, I have wanted to do a 7D cover becauase A) they're from my town here in Atlanta and local heroes and B) I freaking love them. One of my all-time FAVORITE ways to spend a NYE was a couple years back when they came to the new Masquerade and we brought in the new year with an amazing show!
So a few weeks ago I was sitting down trying to pick which one I would do when, like a godsend, @officialsevendust announced a new song and album was coming. That was my cue!
Once #fence dropped, I was air drumming to it almost every night for a week or two (that's part of my learning process - air drum and figure out the parts before you ever even sit behind the kit), trying to make sure I learned the song the way Morgan had written it. When I introduced a friend to them decades ago he said what he found unique about them was Morgan's drum style reminded him of "high school drum line competition". Which was meant as a compliment because it is just not a common way to play where he tends to use his cymbals in a way designed to drive cadence. I am not sure I am explaining it well as it was Waffle, which is a very unique song for drumming that I turned him on to.
I like the fact they love Iowa and I see them every time they come around. Driving hours to see them. My son even had LJ send me a video happy birthday last year and it was his thank you for making them his favorite band too. I have been going to concerts since the 1980's and have seen them more than any other band ever.
I completely understand what you're explaining. Agreed! Such a cool, unique style and especially live. He always has fun and makes it look so effortless. I can ALWAYS pick out Morgan's drumming, even if I just hear the drum tracks only.
They do go there a ton, don't they?!
So awesome of Lajon. He's a super cool guy! My friend, Kadria (of Inviolate), is really cool with the guys and they hang around town when they're home. I love seeing them live any chance I get. Still hoping to kick it with Morgan one of these days 🤞🏼

Wow ! That was a perfect cover ! Except that fill at the end 😉😅 Congrats 💪💪I always love a good Sevendust/Morgan drum cover. Sevendust being my favorite band and Morgan Rose the best drummer in the world. Truth Killer is a good album, although a bit more slow songs then they're used to. Everything is the best song on that one. 🤘🤘 Next cover ? 🤔😁
