I really really appreciate your channel. It's a wonderful source for all things including finding the little idiosyncrasies with uniforms and insignia (the stenciled chevrons in this video, the "Ohio" on the field jacket of a GI in the Aachen videos. Love it
My great grandfather fought in ww2, he went through Omaha beach, fought in battle of the bulge, and wrote letters everyday, he was also in the 2nd infantry division and every time he killed or saw a dead German soldier, he would take their medals, patches, flags, helmets, mini flags, pictures, uniforms, hats, and stuff. After ww2 he married my great grandmother and had this big chest filled with the stuff he took from the dead germans, but when my mother and her sisters and my grandpa and my great grandfather went to six flags, my great grandfathers house got robbed, they took everything especially the boots and also the big chest, they took everything and trashed the house. The only thing that remained was his jacket, his letters, and his pictures because the jacket was with my aunt who lived elsewhere, the letters because they were hidden, and the pictures because they were with the letters. He never talked about the war to my grandpa or anyone even when they took him to therapy he would not talk, the reason that my grandpa knows is because he found his letters, pictures, jacket, boots, pants, medals, and his stuff. I think the reason why my great grandfather didn’t speak was because he was shell shocked.
Very interesting video. Especially with the uniforms they are wearing. They almost look like captured German overalls, either that or they are wearing insulated tanker coveralls. Some of the GI's are wearing what look like brand new shoe pacs too. I really enjoy scrutinizing these videos for the interesting little details. Thanks!

These soldiers wear Overshoes. Shoepacs were common in the 6th Army sector at this time.
Looking for my Grandpop Walter L Viar that was in WW2
