Chris brings soul Robert mite be the Greatest guitarist of all time Yea jimmy I mean yea to bad to sad he don’t play no more The whole world needs to no
WTF! I have been a Crowe’s fan a long time. How have I missed this? This was flat out jamming. Simply awesome by everyone. Bonham would have even been impressed with the drumming and. Wow.
Page said he was impressed by the fact that Chris wasn't the least bit intimidated to sing these songs in front of him.. And that he added his own bit to them. Hadn't heard this in years but still sounds really good.
Page once told me that he was actually jealous of me because I'm really better at guitar and song writing. Page also said the world is either really flat or someone slipped him some bad acid in his booze.🙄 Yeah you know page once told me that him and I are half brothers. 🙄
@@guitarttimman I have read too many books on Page and watched too many lengthy interviews (there must be 10 of those on YT) with the man to "cite" specifically the source. You can do the same and maybe you will become better educated on the man. Maybe you can find contradictory information to what I said? Good luck. No time better than now to get started.
Right?! So great. Capturing the time signature@ around 2:30 & staying with it is so perfect! Ppl that haven't played often think parts like that are easy, but those who know, KNOW 🤟😎
Zep just so many amazing, powerful tunes that always sound cool even when covered by other bands. Page is a genius. BTW, Zep bootlegs between 69-73 demonstrate how badass Zep was live, and in that era Page could really carry a 3 hour show. Who else played 3 hours of blistering guitar every night for years but Jimmy Page? (Gotta love all the great pre-Van Halen guitarists)
Such a great & really underrated band. Crowes are the band 8ve seen most times live(6x) & the first time I saw them they were opening for ZZ Top in Portland, Maine and I was in High school! That concert is what really got me into em. Id heard 'Shake your money maker' & liked it, but seeing em live right up front made me love em. I have so many memories associated w/this band & their music! Peace & love. ✌️
Yes. I always felt like Chris was always on, a true soulfully quintessential rocker, I've loved his dirty in the best way, gravelly goodness. Sorry I can't write it better. He's a true one. A real one, a great rocker. He & Jim perfect cuz Jimmys smooth & pretty, yet theyre both same, kismet. They're so darling together too✌️💪🤙
You know, I really loved these guys, but this performance showed me exactly how much the Robinson Bros. are going to miss Steve Gorman on this next tour. A fantastic and very underrated drummer who deserved better than he got from those cats. I can see why Page liked him so much. Steve was solid as a rock. The bros. (I can not call them "The Black Crowes" at this point) are playing my hometown of Salt Lake City In the summer of 2020 and I will not be attending, nor will I attend any future shows. Without the man who was the driving force on the drum kit for twenty seven years, it is just nothing more than a nostalgia trip, with two guys and some hired mercenaries. I'd rather indulge in my Black Crowes nostalgia by listening to Three Snakes or Southern Harmony and hear the band the way they were in their glory days. With Steve and with old, weird Ed Harsch (R.I.P).
I was just listening to this on the album and came here to check that it really was Chris singing. First, I thought perhaps I'd misread and it was Plant instead of Page. Between his singing and Steve's drumming, they really are channeling Led Zeppelin here.
I'm a huge Jimmy Page fan - his Outrider show in Chicago is still my favorite concert ever. When i saw him on this tour, he was still the focus, of course - but I was really impressed with the Black Crowes drummer. I didn't know anything about him, and still don't...but he really put all he had into these shows, and I really appreciated it. Nobody can compare to Bonham, but the dude was really trying, and he had some skills, for sure...
Mr. Page the O.G. original head banger Much respect to Black Crows Your on stage with greatness Aren't we fortunate to grow up with awesome music as this
Chris Robinson and the crows do all of the members of Led Zeppelin proud with their performance on this album. It blew my mind when I first heard it years ago and it still blows my mind today everytime I listen to it
There were many shows where Led Zeppelin sounded amazingly better than anyone else, but on some of their shows, there were people screwing with their equipment. There was a music war going on back then. Have you ever seen videos where Jimmy is squinting while trying to play a solo? It's because he realized that someone screwed with his settings and he was struggling to get the sounds out of his guitar. NOBODY sounds good if the amp settings are not right. I don't care who it is!
They only need Jimmy. The '73 concert and how the west was won shows proves that. Let me screw with anyone's amp settings and I can cause them not to sound good. Take Joe Satriani and let me mess up his amp settings. As great as he is, he'd sound like shit and people would be saying he sucks. The settings makes or breaks the show!
Jimmy would have gladly continued the collaboration. Rich Robinson took offense to the idea that they'd become a Zep tribute band and told Jimmy to pound sand.
Well if Zep's no more, at least it's children are still keepin' the flame alive with riff master Page. A great collaboration to show once again how timeless all those Zeppelin songs are.
Saw Page & the Crowes 21years ago @ the New Amphitheater in Albuquerque, NM , on a Full Moon Saturday Night , & it was Magickal! 2 1/2 hours of Bluesy Classics from both their catalogues , & then some. The Cult were the opening band.
Remember in the 80’s cruising in a white Chevy Nova with friends, with a sound system blasting, in the middle of summer listening to this for the first time. I was instantly hooked on that guitar riff❤️👍😄 This song never gets old to me😄
yeah, I saw them at Donnington in 91 and they were all over the place. I was 15 and assumed the singer was drunk. Maybe I could see more artistic license in my older age, but back then if it was too loose and way off the studio recording I was upset.
The first album I ever bought was led 2. Bongo made me fall in love with zeppelin. I saw the crows at the Greek in bizerkly. The day I got out of the military. Bowls were had. The crows drummer really brought it. Bonzo was so special. Dude stood out. This drummer did great. Wish I saw this show.
This is proof that Jimmy would have had that band humming through the 80's and 90's if Bonzo wasn't gone. He's so in the pocket and all these songs are his baby, nobody can play em like him live. I rest my case.
the Jones Beach show was the best I've heard of Page and Crowes - Chris did a fine/great(?) job, but Listening to him sang and play the harp makes you really appreciate how great Plant was, especially on the harp!!
That drummer actually did a great job at capturing the Bonzo sound.
Ain't his first rodeo.
Tim Rubin Halcomb
Killed it!
Steve Gorman, baby! The locomotive driver of that band for twenty seven years!
@@BoxcarFred Had to dig into this again after several years. So damn good. New tour is gey.
Great feel. Bonhams not easy, odd time, lotta triplets, ghost notes, ..he Fukin nailed it!!
Steve Gorman showing how underrated he is.
I could listen to this all day.
Lol...RIGHT!!!
So funny, exactly what I thought then looked down and saw your comment. That drummer
I just found this page-n-crowes stuff by accident and can't stop watching, track by track. Just effing great.
Me too I just found it like 2 weeks ago and it's about the only thing I've been listening to
Same!

@@paulmarkwell4663 i hope you mean jimmy or im totally lost, no one in my opinion of the Crows could be the greatest guitarist of all times.

God I miss hearing Jimmy. At any age, with anyone he still rocks it!!!!

Man, just discovering this in 2021, the sh*t you miss while raising kids.
Page said he was impressed by the fact that Chris wasn't the least bit intimidated to sing these songs in front of him.. And that he added his own bit to them. Hadn't heard this in years but still sounds really good.

Steve Gorman carried this show on his back....UNSUNG HERO.....
+gsoltis29 Not once did any Bonzo fan cringe....in fact I said "WOW"
gsoltis29 you would be correct.
right on man..it's like Bonzo's spirit entered iin Steve..
elarboldejoshua he’s not using the massive rims that bonzo used either - but sounds every bit as powerful.
You got that right! It makes me sick what Chris did to him. It ain't the Black Crowes without Mr. Gorman.
The drums are just amazing.
They are predominantly noticeable as they should be.
Right?! So great. Capturing the time signature@ around 2:30 & staying with it is so perfect! Ppl that haven't played often think parts like that are easy, but those who know, KNOW 🤟😎

Three hours and more, every night, Rory Gallagher!
Chris Robinson kills it! God bless Jimmy for playing with them!!!
Chris so talented. It's a pity he kinda fell down and brought this great band down with him.

Black crows were a killer band
That layer of sweat on Jimny's long sleeve without any loss of performance is proof he's timeless
I like Jimmy with the Black Crowes - he seems relaxed and happy and the guys are really good. I like Chris too - great stuff thanks for posting it

man, i feel so fuckin' privileged to have been there that evening
Lucky you.
This is drumming that drummers watch/listen to. Especially around 2:30-4:00, that’s so Fukin great!!
That ripped. Great job Gorman on the drums. The Crowes were good because they understand that when you have good material, it kind of plays itself.
Great memories seeing this clip. Whole band including Page were awesome. Drummer was superb.
God Damn...what Fukin brilliant, spare, lean, zero fat, no bullshit, perfect drumming. Beauty.🤘🏼

Don't blame you one bit
If I had a chance to see Sabbath without Bill Ward I would not be there
Yep, it’s as bad as Pete and Roger still calling themselves “The Who”, Half A Who would be a better, more honest name.
@@boataxe4605 I can agree with that
David Bearnson I am sure they are crushed by your absence. Although not as crushed as they are by Gorman’s absence.
incredible AND you can tell jimmy wants to do the ZEP point at the break when he touches his head!!!!! LEGEND!!!!
I miss real rock & roll music..Bless The Lord Jesus and good ole rock & roll music!
3:20 Gorman got Page hooked, but Page was reelin' Steve in! Awesome interplay! Everything works well together. Thanks for posting.
What a fantastic performance!! This cover will be tough to top!!

I'm a true blue metal fan, but I'm sorry that's "REAL" rock n roll right there brother
I like metal, but I am more partial to the hard rock of the 70's. I guess maybe because I was a hippie back then. LOL
I have loved this song since the 70s Black Crowes do a great job!!!!
A blast from the Past! & the Black Crowes did a fantastic cover W/ the Master himself- BRAVO 👏
