Choreographer Ira Weisburd is demonstrating his new line dance called "CUMBIA SEMANA" at Stella Cabeca's Coconut Creek class in Florida. The song is "Fin De Semana" by Fito Olivares.

I am one of the teachers that have taught Cumbia Semana and it has gone over big really big they love it. I am going to compete in November and this is going to be one of my dances, I have beginners and we just won a competition in July.

Congrats Ira! You did a great job of an easy, fun dance to an upbeat, Latin song! I lament that more dances are not like yours too many today are geared for the advanced dancer and the yet most of our dancers are mainstream and seniors. Your dance had enough repetition to make it easy to learn, and enough different elements to make it interesting without being complicated. Im recommending it to any square/round dance cuers that also teach line dances.

The Grapeviners here in Sarasota (where I am dancing on Wednesdays) asked me to teach a few dances; I am sure you will be happy to hear that I chose and have been teaching Adonde Voy and Turkish Debka - both very well received by all.
I think they will also love Cumbia Semana - so I will teach this one too... (Very "catchy"...)

We danced Cumbia Semana in our Nimbin group last night everyone loved it. There were two things that people remarked in particular one was that for such a simple dance, it got muscles going that wed forgotten about. The second was that we all loved getting into the Latin Rhythm.

I brought this dance to the girls I dance with at the Senior Centers in town (Panama City ). They loved it. Southern Ladies love Latin music and Latin dances. Cumbia Semana is now a part of our demo routine. We dance at many Festivals and functions in town, and I wish you could hear the applause we receive after doing your dance. Also enjoyed watching your demo of "Linda Eh" on You Tube. I will start working on it after the holidays.

My Line Dance instructor Paula Baker, Panama City Beach, Florida taught us your dance last month - It is so refreshing to dance and enjoy dancing to a line dance without memorizing restarts - tags - and complicated steps that do not flow with the music.
