- Release the beast is a Trex that I had to make for a private commission. I decided to make a free tutorial out of this project, you can find it here texturing.xyz/...
This video shows the texturing process in realtime.
Feel free to follow my work on Artstation www.artstation...
Thanks a lot for such a big generosity !
Excellent!Thank you so much
Это очень и очень крутая работа :)
thank you so much
What a great job ! Thank you for sharing this !
How did you got cavities and curvature map ?
Baked from ZBrush I believe.
Hello, thanks for the tutorial. It's very helpful. I have a few questions though.. At the 31:15 mark, you change to the cavity channel and its switches cavities only . Yet when I change to the cavity channel on my mesh (I've followed along using my own model) it remains the same. Did I import the cavity (that I created/exported from zbrush) wrong? I created the channel then added a new layer. Clicked the layer and imported the cavity mask. Was that wrong? That's how I imported the normal, ambient occlusion and curvature. Did I get it all wrong? Lol
That was a super awesome work. Will you make more Mari tutorial on youtube or Gumroad?
Jaya Chakkaravarthy unfortunately I'm not sure to find time to ATM... But we never know :)
Thank you so much,
Can you please show how do you export the maps and setup in Maya. Thanks.
Hi Tritoon. Everything is explained here : texturing.xyz/pages/gael-kerchenbaum-making-of-release-the-beast
gaël kerchenbaum Thank you so much.
Looking forward to your lectures at CGMA :)
i was reading your tutorial and a bit confused as to why you end up sculpting in zbrush after applying the displacement ?, my first guess would be to add volume but im not sure. any help would be appreciated
That's exactly that :)
gaël kerchenbaum Thank you! I’ve become a big fan
Is this type of workflow also possible in Substance Painter?
Is it was a non commercial Mari or Foundry Mari ?!! Please tell me?!🤔
Mari commercial v2.6 so far as I remember
so, following this tutorial in the same vein, and around the 15:53 marker your model switches to another color? Did you hit f3 lighting button(i think) to change the color? I'm thinking I messed up along the way because it looks like your cavities are colored with the original tile pattern and you've been coloring around them. On my mesh, The cavities aren't colored. I've created a channel and imported the cavity map from zbrush on a layer. I did the same with the curvature and Ambient Occlusion. Anybody know my mistake? it's frustrating to get this far and mess up haha
Heya,
at 15:53 I was looking at the former version of the Albedo I created for the actual commission.
Curvature/Cavities are only a grey map exported out of ZB like in my Texturing.xyz tutorial.
@@gaelkerchenbaum ohh okay so that was the end result of an already completed model?
Yep I did it twice, one for the client and one for the demo
hi,when i watch this video,i can not hear any voice ,why not?
Hi, this video is not a tutorial, but a timelapse. The full tutorial is available here: texturing.xyz/pages/gael-kerchenbaum-making-of-release-the-beast
