I am primarily a vocalist and I searched high and low for a four stringed instrument I could accompany myself on and also had a beautiful and rich sound. Several years back I took a chance on an eight stringed Kala Baritone (a little different from the one played in this video) and I absolutely love it. I hardly touch my acoustic guitar, tenor ukulele, or my mandolin these days. The eight string just sounds and feels the best. It’s really inspiring to hear a similar instrument played by someone really accomplished. Very impressive.
Just got myself a Bâton Rouge V2-B8 (the only "cheap" alternative that I found to the Kala B8). I kept coming here over again and again like I was bewitched by the sound of this instrument and the way you play it. I’ve played Guitar since a teen and now I’m in my 70’s. I’ve recently joined a Ukulele group in the UK, within the U3A and I’m having great fun. I started off with a Tenor (tuned GCEA) but have now moved to a Baritone (tuned DGBE) which I love. It has the same tuning as the top 4 strings of a Guitar which is a huge advantage for a Guitar player. I would definitely recommend all Guitar players investing in a Baritone Ukulele - believe me you will love it. I leave mine on the sofa and pick it up to play whenever I have a free minute or two. I have just found this 8 string Baritone Ukulele and I love it and will be buying one soon. It sounds incredible. That rhythmic piece you played was excellent and I keep playing it over and over. I would appreciate if you could give a quick lesson or give out the chords etc. Many thanks.
Wow.. speechless. What a beautiful sounding ukulele. So unique! Just picked up a Kala solid Spruce top concert today. This is my next purchase for sure. I need this in my life. Can we get tabs for what you just played please???

Thought I was dreaming, but next day, I found the bridge of this 8 string had come unglued in the night. Lucky I am a luthier and knew how to reglue it. So its fine now and hopefully stronger than before. Thanks for the demo.
Well I’ve just ordered a Kala SCAC B8 Baritone Ukulele based on this fantastic review. I love that noodle with a variation on D chords. I’ve tried playing that noodle on my 4 string Baritone and it does get intense and you can immerse yourself, close your eyes and strum away. Can’t wait for my 8 string Baritone to arrive. I’m sure I’ll be posting more details.
I was considering buying a new ukulele to replace my debut instrument. I've been looking for "standard" 4-string electro-acoustic models from Flight and Kala. Then I watched this video and fell in love with that very rich 8-string sound (wonderful play btw). Felt like I was listening to a ukulele version of John Butler's "Ocean". Now I'm hesitating whether I stay on my first decision or change my mind... Thank you anyway !
I'm interested in changing my 8 string tenor. I want a low A and low E. Instead of paired in unison. Can I use 2 strings from a 8 string baritone set? I prefer unwound strings. Is any of this possible?
@TUSclips do you have any recommendations what would be a good string set for these 8 string Baritones, it seems so hard to get strings for 8 string baritones

What's wrong with those guy's showing the instrument and don't play the basic chords. Get beating up into the same note....I hardly can hear the chords...
I think we got a good idea of the sound with this demo. It was mostly D and G chords with a few added suspensions. It sounded more complex than it really was because he played it so well.

Standard for a Baritone is DGBE. So this 8 string has low and high D and also low and high G and the B and E are just doubled up.
