Harry Chapin was a great humanitarian and he is missed. His impact is felt with organizations on fighting hunger. His songwriting was of a very unique construction and style. No one could tell a story like him. He is one of a very few of my personal heroes for is generosity and his humanity.
I saw Harry Chapin 4-5 times with and without his band. I suppose I related to his songs about being the fool or loser so often. He was a great man, a great storyteller, and a great musician. I love Pat, but hearing her tribute to Harry makes me love her more. Thank you for posting this.
“But she gave him a daughter....And she gave him a son...She was a mother and a wife...And a lover when the day was done.” A most timeless tribute towards the love between woman and man.
When I bought the Tribute album in 1989, I really enjoyed the rendition this song by Pat Benatar, and got a new appreciation of Pat as different from the Rock and Roll star I had heard on the radio.
There seems to be no end to the great performers who were influenced by Harry. Many who achieved much more accolades and fortune than he did, but they still strive to be the human being that he was.

This is my favorite performance in any of the Harry Chapin Tributes!!
I still miss Harry and it is 2021. He was way ahead of his time and we lost this Treasure way too soon!
Yeah! For me Harry's death was "the day the music died". (Buddy Holly came and went before my time)
There will never be another Harry. He lives on in his music. I miss him.

He was the morning DJ on W-O-L-D. We've all been missing Harry for decades. Dude was one of a kind.
SHOOTING STAR is simply one of the most beautiful songs ever written & Pat 's version is insanely beautiful.
EDJ1845 You read my soul... you nailed it with this comment. I don’t know you but I like you already.
WHO WROTE "SHOOTING STAR"?
An amazing tribute from a Legend herself, Pat Benatar. Harry Chapin gone but not forgotten.

I'm sorry!! I like Pat's version better. Although Harry great!
Well, it was Harry who wrote it. Pat was classic ally trained operatic, so...
There is no need to apologize. Her version is wonderful. The tribute is heartfelt and I love it too.
Oh no. What is this idiocy? When Pat Benatar sings you shut your sad little trap. That is all.
