The drummer for this album was Mike Portnoy. The reason the rev and Portnoy sound similar is because the rev took a lot of inspiration from Portnoy as he was one of his favourite drummers
I see. I would've sworn that was the rev😂
@@SwearoReacts As far as I know, the Rev worked out the parts to most of the album but Portnoy was used to lay down the final recording tracks since Jimmy passed during the final writing stages. Lyrics were changed to capture the theme of what happened but this was Jimmy's writing. I heard Portnoy say as much in an interview.
The Rev was still in the process of writing this when he died, he'd recorded some of the drum parts on an electronic kit for Portnoy to work on after (though he didn't know that at the time), the song was still a bit of a mess and far from finished so the rest of the band had to swap bits round and do further work on it, for example Jimmy had intended the 'tonight we all die young' to be a chorus but they didn't think that worked, still, the end result is a masterpiece
interesting!
jimmy sang the world skull
This was Portnoy on the drums. Though Rev wrote a lot of the drum parts on this album. I don't believe this was one of them as this song was very much about the Revs passing and how the band was left feeling. Incredible playing though. Great tribute to Jimmy
The Rev actually wrote this song before he died and the band changed some lyrics and made it a tribute to him. the first word in the song, "Skull", was written on a demo track at Jimmy's house. they didnt know what it meant but they put it in the song as well.
@@xSpooby hell yeah. Never knew that fact. Cheers
Nah he did a fair amount of drums for this, they changed the song a good amount after his death tho but a solid amount of his drums are in here. The original demo for this song just came out in recent months so you can hear what it originally sounded like
If I remember correctly the rev actually wrote all of the drum parts
🤟🤟🎶🥰
saw jimmy one time only, a month before he passed, fantastic show
This song and the entire Nightmare album were written for Rev, the rev died in 2009
foREVer
It was not written for the Rev, the album was dedicated to the Rev. he worked on like all the demos for this album and was very involved in the songwriting process before he died, obviously some stuff changed including this song from the demos but the Rev had a big role in this album even tho he died before they recorded the finals official tracks that would make the record
if u thought this song was a rollercoaster than u have to check out-Exist (from The Stage album), it's a 15 minute song which is full of instruments, it's an experience u have to try, song is about big bang theory and through instruments u can sense the actions that are taking place by this theory, when matt (vocalist) starts playing, that when the earth if being formed, that's all you need to know so you don't get too spoiled. other than than waking the fallen, the stage and diamonds in the rough are albums u have to check out, cause some of songs from those albums don't get the attention it really deserves, so those albums have some hidden gems u are gonna love
Thanks for the recommendation! I've heard a lot about exist but still haven't heard it
“Critical Acclaim” - live in LBC!!
I have definitely heard critical acclaim lol. But what is it about the "live in lbc" videos that everyone likes so much?
@@SwearoReacts live in LBC is considered by most of the a7x community as their best live perfomance. It has the Rev, incredible mixing, and probably the best vocals that M.Shadows ever had in his career.
Keep doing this man! Loved the video, and your interpretation for Syn's solo is PERFECT!
Much Appreciated! Means a lot!
Mike Portnoy did very well, amazing
Have you heard the song "trashed and scattered" from the city of evil album. One hell of a song!
I have not yet
To me this song, along with others on the Nightmare album allude to the possibility of suicide. I think it is possible that they wondered at the time if he took his own life or if he OD'd. And there would likely be no way to really know, but with him turning in the demo for Fiction (titled Death at the time) and telling them the album the album was done just 3 days before his passing would certainly make anyone wonder if his death was purposeful. I think this album just explored all of their pain and questions they were asking themselves in the immediate aftermath of his passing.
I have wondered this multiple times myself
God damn this song takes me back. Crazy ass album. Seen em 4 times during the span of city of evil thru this album.
Live in LBC is basicly just the best liveshow A7X ever did!! well i didnt hear all other concerts surely, , but its crazy good show..
Well its true A7X master to tell stories just with the music, you can grab the meaning of some songs..
u should react the live version
React chapter four
Next, unholy confessions
Heard it lol. First of the 3 songs from Waking the Fallen that ive heard
Definitely the Revs beats.. but finished by Portnoy
its crazy how similar they sound!
The Rev had wrote/recorded some tracks for the album….Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater Recorded drums to finish album….yes, the dual vocal parts are the Revs…..the end vocals-tonight we all die young is the Rev&M Shadows…..👍🤟🤟🤟
Thanks for the info. I thought that's what I was hearing😂
The only vocals Jimmy did on the song are the skull part. He did do vocals on the demo which recently released but he died to early to have vocals on this song, the only vocals he did that were salvageable enough for the final recording of this song is skull, all the other vocals are Matt and multiple layers of Matt to create the harmonies
🔥
Reacts a7x - victim songs on the same album
I have heard victims. Great song
that a lead guitar no harmonize guitar
