    Tbh, the denim jumpsuit you had on in the beginning looked the most harmonious with your features and coloring. Warmer colors look fantastic on you, plus anything with relaxed and longer lines. Not sure if you've checked into Kitchener's style essences or Kibbe body types, but I'm leaning towards either a natural or dramatic Kibbe ID for you as well as natural, dramatic, and ethereal essences. You need styles that emphasize the vertical, not cut-off pants or shorter skirts. Long and loose pants like the outfit you liked looked fantastic on you, plus the relaxed fit trenchcoat. Loved the olive color top on you, the autumnal colors look fantastic on you, whereas the black seemed a bit draining. That's why the bright pink doesn't work on you, you look better in earthy tones. :)

    Don't want to wear the jacket? Chocolate hankerchief scarf could be cute, a nice earring. Or maybe a belt? A truly tailored and flattering outfit only needs one accessory to add interest, two or three if you want to go hard on it.

    When you watch this, you can even see how fast your demeanour changes with which ones you feel confident in and the ones you don't! Your back straightens, your shoulders go back. Your entire posture just expands and it's absolutely bangin' to see that shift back and forth. The outfits you hate, you can see you hunch or lean forward and draw your shoulders in, etc. Trust your gut!
    I'll be honest, I love fashion too, and you diss your fashion choices way too much. You clearly have a REALLY good sense of what's fashionable and not, based on just the comments you made trying on the outfits. They were the same thoughts I had. Again, trust yourself more!
    Fashion is about confidence, there's no rules. If you THINK you look fantastic, you do. People notice confidence and posture, not patterns and colours! You got this!

    200 stylist.
    1. The Valentino coat is stunning. The leather looks butter soft and the drape is exquisite, but I agree that a coat that costs twice one's rent ought to be inspected before shipping. I like the overall look, although I think the top doesn't look very comfortable and is a bit impractical. 6/10.
    2. That green sweater is a winner. 100%. The outfit is attractive and has a some sass. It would be better with a belt. 8/10, especially for wearability. (P.S. I think the trousers from the next look might be better with the green sweater.)
    3. Initially, I thought the look was well-put together, until you mentioned the brown trousers. Then, all of a sudden, the outfit looked very odd. I'm not such a big fan of the dangling bits. They seem a bit frowsy for most normal situations. The whole look? 5/10. The trousers and the boots? 9/10.
    4. Outstanding! The grey looks really well on you, fwiw. I think if you get it tailored, it will be a go to. It looks comfortable, stylish, and fun. I love the way that they top is cut, especially under the arm, because it lies so smoothly! No bra-revealing gaps! 10/10. Initially, I was going to say 9/10, but how much you like it, and how much it expresses your aesthetic bumps it up to 10/10.
    5. 100% agree about the color. Also think either the intricate stitching elements OR a patter on the fabric. With both, it does sort of resemble a chair cover chez Granny. Also? With that enormous bow and the way it hangs in the front, it makes it look as though you have a sizable baby bump, which would be fine, if you did have one. 2/10.
    20 stylist.
    1. The thing I like best about it is the jacket. I think either ripped jeans, or a crop top, but not both. Actually, I don't like the cut of the jeans at all, and I don't like where/how the tears are. The way the top ends on your belly looks a bit like it's an undersized piece that usually connects the front and back in the crotch area. I like the fabric and color, though. 3/10 (because the jacket and top with a better set of trousers could be quite cute.
    2. Agree with you 100%. Ditch the jacket. The outfit is banging without it, and looks overdone with it. Without the jacket 10/10. With the jacket 5/10. (And maybe try with the boots from the outfit with the Valentino coat? The boots with this outfit are too shiny. It distracts from the drape of the dress.) And, oh my GOSH that Valentino coat done up may, in fact, be worth two month's rent, if they send you a non-broken version. WIth THAT coat? 20/10.
    3. It's an "almost there, but not quite." The fabric and pattern of the skirt are fine. It just drapes strangely. So with you on the boots with no toes. I think the Valentino outfit boots, or the ones from #3 of the other stylist? I give his an E for effort, but a 3/10 for execution. Also? just like that top from #1, the front "tab" is odd-looking and draws my eyes to a pretty random place. Ok. if you insist on including the bag, we are at 1/10.
    4. The colors of the top and skirt look very well on you. I like the top quite a lot. The slit on the skirt is an odd length and I think it would be difficult to manage when sitting. So, that needs some tending to. The shoes are stupid. I'm sorry. It's the only word I can find. The bag.... No. So impractical for daytime, anyway, no? Too small. Too fussy. Just the top and skirt? 8/10. And I do think that as a special piece, the top is worth the 250.
    5. The neon pink.. Pretty trashy. 0/10.

She had the right balance between solids, prints, cuts, and texture…she also gave timeless pieces that you can wear years down the line and it would look great (the crème trench 10/10). And the grandma dress…I actually liked lol. I think if you had a high ponytail and swapped the boots out, it would have worked.

      I did not like the first "expensive" outfit at all. She looks like she is trying too hard. Those trousers with that shirt? Why? Basic white long sleeve or a white turtleneck with those trousers - yes. Basic black trousers with that top - ok. BUT. Not like this. At least one item should look as if you don't care. This screams "I am trying too hard and I don't know what I am doing". The Valentino coat... Ok. Is it really worth the money? It looks basic for such an expensive item. Better buy some expensive jewellery or an expensive bag... And. This coat would look better on a plus sized woman. The second outfit is fire in theory but the white coat is the only thing that truly makes this outfit look complete. She is not going to wear this coat every time, it's white it's not practical on any level. Once she would try this outfit with a black coat - it won't look as good anymore. The third outfit is GOTH. It looks good on her but only a true rebel would wear this. Number 4 and 5... Also not ideal. I am sorry but I would never wear this west. The dress - also not for everybody (I would rather wear the dress from 5 than the west from 4). Something tells me that a person would either never wear the west or never wear the dress, depending on their character. Can't imagine anyone liking both... I don't know guys... Finding out that it was because I was trying to wear the wrong shapes of clothing for my body shape was so illuminating.

    This may have already been mentioned, but I think this is where it's important to have a stylist who does an initial assessment of what you already have in your wardrobe, and who performs the role of personal shopper with you.
    It's less accessible than using a service fully online, but she/they will get an idea of a) what you look like IRL, b) what you already own that can be incorporated, styled or tailored into new looks, and c) check the fit of new clothes and any client objections in person!!
    As other commenters have already mentioned, needs like fabric/breathability and value for budget/cost-per-wear and lifestyle appropriateness and probably going to be adressed better by a service that works with you offline.
    (Not a stylist myself - spent a long time working fashion retail and spend a lot of time on Instagram and adding things to cart that I ultimately can't afford 😂
    I understand better now when I have friends who say to me, "How are you so good at accessorising?" It's not always a matter of 'buy what you like and affix to your body' 💁🏻‍♀️)
    Interesting to see what choices you ended up with based on your brief and budget!
    And that ochre floral dress has way too much going on. It needs a block (plain) colour and simpler neckline. Absolute dog's breakfast disaster of elements!
    My fave was the green top with brown trousers but you can clearly see how much you enjoyed the waistcoast co-ord!

    I just had a stylist transform my wardrobe recently and after that experience, I am not surprised this experiment went the way it did. I was thoroughly assessed regarding body type, colour palette, hue shades and personality. In addition she was very keen on knowing, which "message" I want to give in my outfits. Of course that cost more than 200 pounds - however I have spend less on my new outfits, because she paid attention to capsule wardrobing. She also was precise regarding how my clothes should fit- I love every piece she picked. My feeling watching this video: many styles would have looked much better with a proper fit - but in general the stylists did not have enough information to understand, what the client wants. However, with a budget of 20 and 200, that also is too much to ask.

I've read too many online articles that state open toed booties/boots are on the way out. Which I think is good because it makes the foot look a hoof. However the chunky soled boots are everything. You could wear them with longer skirts, trousers, or jeans. Some of the outfits would also benefit from a wide belt or corset belt. That long black leather coat is incredible and worth saving up for but the cream coat is a must buy. You buy an expensive classic style coat and it will last for a decade or more so in the long run it's worth it. My sister gave me a long black wool cape over ten years ago and it's still a fashion statement statement. Just my two cents worth. I'm 63 and lived through bell bottoms, disco, and shoulder pads.

Plus full body photos from different angles, and measurements of course. Then I got a sort of preview, and I could send feedback about what I liked or disliked and why. And then I got an e-mail with all the items I was going to be sent, and the ability to take out some items and they would swap in something else that I wouldn't be able to approve, so would be a surprise. And it still turned out so bad 😭 I'd told them I like a bit edgy style, I wanted to experiment with more color, and they sent me the most basic stuff, and there was no color in there. Really appreciated this video!! I personally feel that it's better to buy quality items without a designer label, and you learn what looks good on you without a stylist. Much more economical! The way my jaw dropped from hearing how much you had to spend! At least with stitch fix they know the type of budget they're working with. Perhaps if opting for a stylist, we need to shop around before settling on one

      Also wanted to add that you're lovely and would look great in anything. It's an injustice that some of the looks from both but especially the $200 stylist were nonsensical!

    All time favorite is outfit #2 from the $200 stylist. That green looks so good on you, and it's very flattering on your figure. #4 was also good, but I think how comfortable you felt in it made it even better. I hope you kept those two 🙂. #1 would have been much better without the shorts, you're right. The only one from the $20 stylist that was worth it was #2. But you're definitely right about it needing a longer jacket.

    Expensive 2 was my favourite. It gives off the "i'm naturally stylish" vibe and a total "I want to be like her" reaction. I also loved the last top from the cheaper stylist... until you mentioned the price of it! The suit set was great too, it felt powerful.

    I agree with you, best outfit that complimented your body was the suit. From just watching this video I feel like 1940s inspired fashion will definitely go with you, it’s a mixture of masculine and feminine and still sophisticated. (I’ve been wanting to be a fashion stylist since I was 15, I never believed in myself but I’m 36 now and it’s time!)

    I forgot to rate them all, but I loved that green, sweetheart neckline shirt outfit and the suit one. Absolutely adored them. And the expensive cost was also really nice, but liked it a whole lot more when it was all buttoned and tied up. Overall though, I didn't think most of the outfits were bad. Except for a few, the rest were nice😁

  • @TheBrownSnicker
    @TheBrownSnicker Před 2 lety +999

    As a “fashionable person” I have to say that the expensive stylist did a great job of finding cool fashionable looks but it doesn’t matter how good something looks on you if you let the outfit wear you rather than wearing the outfit with your confidence. The two piece vest suit thing that you love isn’t necessarily better than the other pieces but it looks incredible in you because the way you carry yourself on it is much more confident than the other fits. I hate all the cheap stylist looks, they’re basic.

    • @fighterflight

    • @nenufairy1929
      @nenufairy1929 Před 2 lety +35

      But most times how confident you are in an outfit depends on how well they fit you. Some of these outfits had a horrible fit on her, like the first pair of pants, and that third top was atrocious. She wasn't feeling the brown pants, but she looked great on them anyways, so it wasn't so much about her liking it.

Overall I liked the more expensive stylist outfits more. They were very fashion girl but make it sophisticated lol, honestly they both had wins and fails. The matrix coat is absolutely gorgeous

    As a retired personal jewelry designer, I would never have picked all that black for you. Your coloring is spectacular and rare and should be celebrated with lighter, warmer neutrals and a few "mermaid" colors (coral, aqua, mint green, etc.)
    You also have a near perfect figure, so dressing you should have been simple. There were only two outfits I felt truly did your beauty justice: the two piece grey vest suit and the # 4 outfit from the $20.00 stylist that had a ruched ivory skirt paired with a deep sea blue top. The black leather coat was a great design, but it doesn't really flatter your coloring or figure.
    When I was designing for clients I always respected their individuality: many people want simpler styles that they can wear more often, not dramatic pieces that only work occasionally.
    My best advice to you is to pick a core neutral color other than black, possibly a warm grey, blue grey or conversely a warm brown. Then buy something that you adore that flatters your figure and looks both young and sophisticated and reflects your style. Ideally in a colder climate this would be a 3-season coat or at least a blazer or jacket. Then start adding pieces that go with that item: slacks, a skirt, a nice blouse or sweater. Or you could start with that vest and pant set in grey.
    You have an hourglass shape, which both stylists did a good job of accenting. However, since you like simpler styles, always be careful to choose those that have a shape, a nipped in waist and fabric that is not to heavy, so it can still drape well.
    Avoid squared off, boxy, heavy looks at all costs, as well as heavy dark colours. Clothing and jewelry should enhance the person's beauty, not detract.

      @ANPC-pi9vu Před rokem +9

      Yeah, but she seems to like black. Mermaid colors are super girly and she doesn't seem like she's into that. I bet slightly more masculine autumn colors would look great on her and tie in the greys and blacks she seems to prefer.

      You would have so much fun if I were your client because I want my accessories as extra as possible. Admittedly matching a wardrobe to my jewelry tastes can be a challenge, however.
