    My friend's 2013 Subaru BRZ's motor mounts started failing so I replaced them. The car has about 75,000 miles on it and rather than replacing with OEM, I suggested going with a more solid set of mounts for better power delivery. Watch as I show you how to replace the mounts so you can do the same in your BRZ, FRS or GT-86.
    My friend purchased the replacement parts for this video, I used my own tools and equipment I bought with my own money to complete the job.

    Steve! thanks for the video, was looking for this. How long did it take you? also how did the mounts come out after you loosened them any tricks to sliding them out from under the engine?

      Hey Simon! The whole job took me a couple hours but I was also filming which surprisingly adds quite a bit of time to the effort. I would say this should have taken me about 2-2.5 hours from start to finish. Not too bad. To get them out, it was tricky but eventually I got them out. Square peg in a round hole kind of thing, persistence and just keep turning the mounts as you try and remove is all I did. Thanks for reaching out!!

    Great video! Do you need to unbolt the transmission mount to lift the engine or not really?

    how would i diagnose this on a manual car? i suspect my FRS motor mounts are bad.

      The trick I showed in the video works for automatics, unless you want to work some magic and fully lock the parking brake and balance the clutch and throttle a little? It’s sketchy but that may work like shown in the video. Otherwise, you should be able to feel more clunking and impacts coming from the motor more or less bouncing on the mounts vs the mounts holding it in place. It can also bounce like crazy during start up, and if you give it throttle while in gear it will want to move so you should feel movement during the moment of applying torque and releasing the torque. I hope this helps.
