i honestly do not think its because of her political "side" she wasn't liked. The show is live right? Her behavior and overall attitude towards guest, the audience and her coworkers was just NASTY a lot of the time. Even when people were agreeing with her she couldn't take a moment to LISTEN before running her mouth.

Exactly. Meghan was hateful to her co-hosts, the guests, and the audience. She even cussed out her producer and was reported to HR.
Considering that Elizabeth seems to have a civil relationship with Joy and Whoopi if not a distant acquaintanceship (they could be friends but I don't know) even though they agreed on virtually nothing... MeAgain acts as if she was only hated for her political views. No... She would scream at the top of her lungs when they would do a hot topic that wasn't politically based. The women get to each choose a topic from a list. There were many a times when they would stay on the same subject for the entire episode because she wouldn't shut up. They would have guests on that would have under five minutes to talk because she wasted so much time screaming and telling everyone they were wrong.
Now there were times where she did make points in terms of how and why certain events played out the way they did in terms of her party. However, she would go about explaining it in a way that was just so condescending. It also didn't help that she had a quickie marriage so her father could be in her wedding pictures (I realize we do irrational things when we are in stages of grief) and married a guy who both himself and his own father are giant supporters of a man that dishonored her own father's memory so horribly. I get that there are things that we as people will agree with in terms of people we don't like at all. However, you could just easily tell that EVERY woman on that panel wanted to scream think about WTF she is saying when she would spend the other half of the segment rambling "My father..." Ok... She also had a horrible time grasping that the Republican party she grew up in has essentially died. Are there still true conservatives with actual values (whether we agree with them or not) left? Yes but they are far and few between within politics.
Whoopi is not her mother. Joy is not her friend. They were co-workers. All of them.

It seems like the majority of former cohosts agree that The View is a toxic workplace. A tell-all book (written by a friend of Meghan's) interviewed a lot of former hosts and they told incredible stories of workplace abuses. Right now, The View is releasing weekly podcast interviews of former hosts by current hosts, and all of the former hosts except Debbie Matenopoulos (who takes all the blame on herself for being young and naive) so far seem to say the same thing: working there was an emotionally devastating experience, they are glad they had the experience but would never do it again. I believe it's a toxic place to be that affords good opportunities.
That said, yes, it's kind of weird that she is sitting there with a friend saying she wants her friend to have the opportunity that comes with working at a job that drove her crazy. McCain makes The View sound like a warzone and makes her former cohosts sound like an enemy battalion, and she talks about having panic attacks and throwing up because of things Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar said to her. It says something about McCain that she would urge a friend to work in that sort of space for the sake of professional opportunities. It suggests she is an opportunist above all else. And so be it, but of S.E. Cupp were hired for the job, it would only be a matter of time before she is sitting there on Andy's sofa complaining about how she was tormented by evil progressives and she should have listened to Meghan McCain and stayed away. It's all so strange.
So it's okay for Megan to write a "tell all book" but not Katie Couric. I'm sorry but that's hypocrisy as usual for a republican. They all have amnesia.

You know when she first started on The View I appreciated everyone's opinion but as time went on she became more and more of a petulant little brat who became more and more combative. I think it's easy to judge Katie Couric for her behavior but after watching The Morning Show and getting an idea of what it's like working for network T.V, I can't say that I wouldn't have behaved the same if I were in her place. If we think of men who have served as anchors in daytime and evening T.V, we can remember them old but that can't be said about women in T.V. What female news anchor ever got to be in that same position at the age of 70.? It was an dog eat dog world created for woman and once Katie got to the top, she had to find a way to stay there.

The only way I can come close to understanding Meghan McCain's perspective is to think she has the same personality type as Donald Trump. Her entire tenure on The View showcased her behaving unprofessionally on set, talking over cohosts, yelling at cohosts, occasionally saying snide things to people in the audience, sometimes getting angry at the moderator (Whoopi Goldberg) for cutting her off because the director made her cut to commercial, which happens nearly every day with different cohosts and guests alike. I have never seen anyone on a television show of this sort not only act so rude but so uncomposed and uncontrolled. And yet every time she said something rude or condescending to someone and they bit back at her, she felt she was victimized-just like Donald Trump. I don't understand how ABC News employed her for so long and I don't understand why NBC News has now employed her with guest spots on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd.
Meghan McCain is the heir to an alcohol distribution fortune worth hundreds of millions of dollars and the daughter of an influential senator. She has had every opportunity afforded to her and she has taken those opportunities, but she hasn't done the work needed to prepare her for the job she has chosen. She has a bachelor's degree in art history-which is great; I value the arts more than anything, but it has to be said that broadcast news networks wouldn't even hire entry-level staff who didn't major in political science, journalism, communications or a related field of study. But they'll pay millions to the child of a super-wealthy politician. Fine, but should that child not still have some requisite qualifications, even if it's an associate degree in journalism from the University of Phoenix? And should that child not be held to basic standards that have always applied to news network hosts of decorum and professionalism? Had Ms. McCain composed herself as a professional adult, she would have met with different reactions in the studio and from the public. Nicolle Wallace and Jedediah Bila, two former cohosts who represented conservative viewpoints, were respected by their peers and by the audience alike because they were respectful and civil, and they both knew what they were talking about and did not yell at their cohosts when backed into corners they couldn't reason their ways out of.

You know, I think at least Katie is honest. I think she could have written a fake book, painting herself as some kind saint, like a lot people would have done. As far as S E Cupp's comment that women of today's generation would not have done what Katie Couric has done (which includes herself). I think it is a very judgemental comment. Unless she had been in Katie's shoes before, how can she be sure she would not do the same thing?
She would never act like that and that’s just what she did, on the show and in her book. It was the best gig she’ll ever have and she screwed it up.
As a Democrat I definitely don’t agree with everything Meghan thinks and says, sometimes I do…but, I always appreciate her point of view. It’s important to be able to listen to others view points even when you disagree…and those who blatantly dismiss her because she’s a conservative are the ones who need to grow up and work on their emotional intelligence.
She's not capable of holding a conversation adult-to-adult though. It's her deliver and her attitude and lack of respect towards others that make people dislike her. Were you in the bathroom when she was on The View?

Obviously you and the rest of the country were watching a different "View" show. Meghan McCain always made the topic about H - E - R. She always was dismissive and condescending to the other View co-hosts and sometimes to the guest at the table. I appreciate a different point of view, as well. I don't always agree with Sonny or Joy or even Whoopi. I think they are too liberal at times but Meghan was so self absorbed. If you watch The View now, you will see calm and thoughtful discussions on a range of topics. There isn't anymore yelling, pouting or hissy fits.
Women of all generations stand up for other women. Gloria Steinem isn't exactly 30, neither is Jane Fonda or Eve Ensler. These two are neither the sharpest tools in the shed nor the brightest bulbs in the chandelier!

what bothered me most about katies book, besides what i expected to hate about it as, it was poorly written. Grammer wise, it's not streamlined. I don't know who edited that piece, except clearly, they thought they hit the publishing motherload with katies book deal....no doubt they rushed it because of the "juice".

Megan behaved horribly on the show. I loved Rosie on "The view" but she handled that stint very badly the first time. She should have never left. Incedingly "The view" saw huge rating upon Rosie's arrival in 2006-07. People watched to see the way she behaved just like they did with Meg. The ratings spiked with Megan.

I have seen S.E. Cupp on a talk show for MSNBC and she was nasty, therefor, I KNOW SHE IS NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR THE VIEW! As for what they are saying here? It is pot calling the kettle level, stuff. You can not both trash Katie AND say you are against trashing others. You can not write a book about your time on the view trashing those you worked with/for AND think it is somehow different than Curic writing a book doing the exact thing you did (Meghan).
