Shantytowns are a daily reality in France for the 16,000 men, women and children, mostly from Eastern Europe’s persecuted Roma minority, who call 570 makeshift slums home. On France’s Atlantic Coast, the Loire-Atlantique department, with its 40-odd “illegal encampments” in and around Nantes, contains the most shanty dwellers. In 2017, the French State and the 24 municipalities of greater Nantes devised a plan to develop plots of land with a view to replacing the shantytowns. In the meantime, NGOs and neighbourhood collectives are lending support to the resident families and keeping lines of contact open with a society that tends to forget them.

This is not a comment that's aged well since you now have sprawling miles of shantytowns and tent cities in the us, not to mention miles people on the streets, completely out of it on drugs and charities set up to help developing countries now working in the us, providing healthcare to thousands of desperate people.
And now it turns out you even have child labour going on and the american Taliban taking over.

There are limited government resources in any country.France, like the country they left, depends on the taxes paid to provide assistamce and in France taxes are shall I say generous. There is shame, shame France allowed the invasion and shae these people forcefully imposed themselves on France and finally shame that they are complaining things are not better for them. If this is far worse than what they left. why did they leave their previous countries?
I suggest many left to escape the warrants for their arrests and escape work for welfare. France should begin mass deportations.

Ryk Comerford Illegal. They just decided to move there and set up illegal camps. They don't get residency or work permits either. There are documentaries that show many of them using their children to beg on the streets. The children will be watched from a distance by their mother and check in with her periodically to give her the money and go back and beg for more. That money then gets sent on to the Boss in Romania running the whole scam. He lives in a big house. There is even footage of the beggars at the homes of these men, and then returning to Europe for more begging. Teenage boys pickpocket also. I think it was the BBC that filmed all of this.

And that therefore you must consider the consequences before committing a crime and take responsibility for the consequences? It is not a government's responsibility to cater to them if they are illegally in the country because they are not contributing financially for the growth of the very infra-structure they will need to be able to thrive in that country.

I'm confused. Do you assume these people have zero income? Then why not attack that issue? It seems to me that (for example) heat and electricity can be had very very reasonably, given a place like you have. It is far better than a tent, far better than having to pick up and move and have no where to go - to have your camp and all your belongings hauled to the dump. I am not exaggerating, and I am not stupid about what a person can do. Are you all under the spell of hypnagogia because that deserves some counseling to overcome - but you should be able, and be guaranteed, the right to employment, and childcare is a given at that age before school. It is good, it is healthy, it is normal. What do you need that you cannot have? Are you discriminated against for some reason? Attack that. Before you know it years will have passed by you.
