  • In a snowy defensive slugfest, the San Francisco 49ers delivered the final blow to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers with a 13-10 win. San Francisco held the reigning MVP in check as he failed to throw a touchdown for only the second time in his postseason career, as Green Bay couldn’t find the end zone after its first drive of the game. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe debate the percentage Rodgers deserves for the Packers' loss.

This loss is 90% on Aaron Rodgers. You’re the best team in the league, one of the best oline, running game, receiving core (with the best WR in football), and defense and you lose to a wild card team?? The defense held the 49ers offense to 6 points! Packers fans always blame the defense for their playoff losses.
On the last two packers drives, the mvp, the best QB in football, went 3 n out twice with the game on the line. Even jimmy g was clutch enough to get them to field goal range to win the game.
I give the last 10% of the blame to the special teams, but if you know your special teams is that bad, you keep them off the field. That block punt was the result of a Rodgers 3 n out.
I never want to hear anyone compare Rodgers to Brady ever again.

I think I've found the difference between Brady and Rodgers. In the toughest games, Brady responds to the situation. His team rises to the challenge and you can see the momentum controlled by Brady. He has poise. He has mastery of a game's flow and tempo. Rodgers is phenomenally skilled. He doesn't put it all together to respond to the color and countenance of the game. Brady is so mesmerizing because he finds a way-low score, high score, shootout, clock management, comebacks, all of it. Rodgers just plays the position. Brady leads.

Idk about all that. I'll give credit to Tampa Bay as a whole rather than Brady. You don't get to score 0 points in a half and get huge credit for "leading" when it results in a loss. Most of Brady's great throws came when the Rams started to play soft coverage to just let the clock run.
Brady got the huge luxury of his defense forcing 4 turnovers, and yet he still managed to do nothing most of the game. Both Rodgers and Brady played terribly. Brady saved face a little bit, but then again, he played in much better weather and even though I love that Rams defense, the 49ers defense is simply on another level. The 49ers front 4 is in a tier of its own, which is why they owned the Rams twice this season already.
The Tampa defense did its thing for Brady just like last year when they forced 2 turnovers (and a ton of 3-and-outs) against Green Bay to save Brady from his own 3-Int performance. This time, they defense couldn't save Brady again, but it came real close.

The whole season is on the line with Aaron Rogers getting the ball back with plenty of time to go down and get a winning field goal. He couldn't do it. He went 3 and out. He couldn't put together one drive in the 4th quarter to win the game or at least put them in a position to win it. The way the value system works on offense and defense in football, the way the blame, and team success hangs on the QB's "greatness". And our perception of legacies, a star player's, star power determiming the outcome of games. Mainly QB (or pitcher in the example.). And like Ray Lewis, Revis Island, Ed Reed being the hitters or batters in the baseball example. With special teams most of the time being an afterthought. Unless it's a big splash play. That hurts your team, loses the game, or a return TD or something. In reality special teams is just as important to football as it is in fielding in baseball. And has a big effect on teams winning, and getting to superbowls and things. And the patriots were leagues above other teams in special teams. The coaching, execution, and organization was always near flawless during the patriots dynasty. And it's not nearly talked about enough when discussing NE's dynasty.

I'll talk trash about Rodgers, but ultimately, he's still great and there's no shame in bowing out to the 49ers. I love the Cowboys and we got stunned by that team too. I was worried about that matchup immediately because of their damn front 4. They're just elite to the point where it's frustrating to watch them constantly shed blocks while also being so damn fast that your QB can't get it out on the flats without them being johnny on the spot with the tackle. Everything about that 49ers defense screams Super Bowl Winner imo.
Plus their offense is just dynamic enough to make them a nightmare. You've got Kittle and Deebo who are just so unique, Jimmy G is able to pull out 3-4 magnificent passes every game somehow, then you've got their coach calling plays that you don't see normally. It's like he's playing chess in the trenches and this leads to a ton of confusion, missed assignments, etc. I don't envy the Rams next week given that they have already gotten beat by the 49ers twice.
The media needs to pay attention to this 49ers team. They're no joke. It's time to stop overlooking just how difficult of a team this is to handle because they dominate the aspects of the game you need to dominate to win chips. They can pressure your QB with 4 guys, they can cover the flats, they can run the ball, they have two skilled guys in Deebo and Kittle who can come through in the clutch, and they can force 3-and-outs over and over. They're not a bend-don't-break defense... they don't bend or break lol. After a while in that game in Arlington, I was just amazed at how well they could pressure and run the ball...it's like, wtf do you do against that?

It may have been a worse performance than Arizona because I think it effected the game where Arizona's QB problems may not have been fixed with a second or 2 more time. Jimmy G arm/hand problem are critical, he threw no balls 0 balls into the endzone other than the slow wobbly interception, he threw the quick slant well 3 or 4 times in the middle of the field. They have to have 20 plays for Lance if they want to win because I expect the Rams to avoid early turnovers and put 20 points on the board, he is incapable of putting that many points on the board with his weak, wobbly arm without defensive scores.
