- The new Mahindra Thar has been a runaway success - a mini (replica) Jeep Wrangler that has given a lot of people in India aspirations to turn overlanders. This is the story of one such Mahindra Thar, that has been given a full makeover in just 15 days - not a simple feat by any stretch of the imagination.
It gets a full body rack that is mounted on the stock hardtop. It also gets two water tanks with a pump and a tap that should make life in the wilderness that much easier.
Have four in the family who want to travel together in the Thar? Worry not, you can now store your luggage on the roof. This, is a proper build.

Don't be apologetic about having off-road tyres on 2WD. They're very purposeful especially if your vehicle lacks 4WD. I run AT or MT on my old 2WD Scorpio on wet clay tracks and they help. Cheers.
Oh no. Not apologetic. Just a cheeky comment on people reacting to me engaging 4x4 off road for the first time and not seeing the thrill in doing baby obstacles on sand. They missed my perspective - easy on a car, challening on a bike. That's where the thrill lies for me. Cheers

Seems like really top notch work. Thanks for presenting these in a structured way for enthusiasts. Overlanding and other purpose specific mods are fabulous. Only issue is that in big metros in particular these become a cop magnet to be stopped and challanned. Big issue if its also your daily driver and not just kept away in the hills.
This is very neat work.Actually when this is going through roads,police cannot find modification very quickly.Something like this is a dream for someone like me.

in my opinion, the water outlet should be inside or should have a cover, there would be lot of dust that get accumulated over them

I too have self modified my thar .. personally done modifications on pertol softtop convertible.. done a leh trip recently... many ideas are common ....
By installing rack on the top of thar does it also affect the mileage ?
Few months back i went classic SP for arm rest and dead paddle for thar, Mudit father gifted me air perfume for my new thar. He is also gentle men like these boys and yess he give me sweets(parsadam) also 🙏🏻🙏🏻💐💐
Abhinav, what was the total cost for all these modifications. From the video that you've shared, I think its best or better to get the soft-top or the convertible model and add these things to make Thar even tougher.

The pump setup is interesting but looks very delicate. It might not withstand real world over-landing usage.
I would be more worried about the rack with no flex when the body of the car moves can be a serious problem

8:29 i saw the plumbing (if you can call it refering to the white pipes that are used in most water purification system like kent) how sturdy it is? it breaks really easily from what I have seen.
Those days are long gone. And I'm not sure if the plumbing breaks.
