I know this from the Dutch group "Bots" who did a Dutch and a German version in the 70's. This group brought it musically back to its Breton roots. The original was written in 1929 and is called "Ev Chistr ’ta Laou!" (Song of cider). Cheers! 🍻

Awesome to see you réálly 'dig into our culture', and even react to Rapalje. (have you looked up the translation of that word already? :) Your reaction, als always, is wonderful to see! Hard to explain why, I guess, but you seem so sincere in indulging the "old ways", real things, human energy and the power that comes with it..! And I think you (and Simple to) would fit in with 'Atlantians' so very well! (yes, really!)

Yeah Rapalje! Great musicians! Favorite band of my parents in law. They went to dozens of their performances. I saw them once live in my hometown and it was just beautiful…so authentic….the medieval like music, an historic city….and a tavern like café in the centre of the city. The overall atmosphere made it complete👍🏻.

@@Dutchienl2006 Breton song if you want to be pedantic. This version is definetly inspired by a version from the Bots which was a Dutch band.
Yes, the roots are from two Breton men all the way back in 1929 but that does not mean that this song has seen a lot of changes and different versions over the years which other bands all have picked and choose from, making it their own.
Hell, the original "French" version you mentioned has totally different lyrics and meaning behind it.

Bots is all about SOCIALISM in the good way!
Sharing, democracy, and the first needs in life for everybody!
Everybody needs fresh water, housing, food, labour and important stuff like that in life.
What do you get? Hardly enough to make a respectfull living from your work...
What is politics about? About freedom of whatever (you never can afford)...
What do you see on your tv on the news and in other programs? Sport, more sport and journalists interviewing each other around a large table... with cameras around it...
Nobody gets informed about anything, but for the producing company this is a great earning-model... Nobode has to fly anywhere for a story; nobody has to look into anything... No, sport... Who scored the last goal... and stuff like that...
This band adressed the emptyness of the bs that we were and still are adressed in even bigger amounts than ever... Everybody can see what I'm saying here around them. What are we gonna do?
