This story means a lot to me because I did this interview with my friend, Jay. Listen to him. He's been there.
My father used to say "nobody with a drug problem ever tried their first highs believing they'd end up with a drug problem."
The fact that he realized his mistake, became clean and shared his life lessons with us was perhaps his greatest victory! RIP Jay...THE ORIGINAL SEED!!
RIP Jay Adams. Such a inspiration to the skateboard community. Thanks Jay.
This guy is the embodiment of us kids growing up jumping out our door finding somewhere to skate! RIP Jay!
Jay was signing scriptures , for his autograph, I witness him at s.d. city college ,and Charles lewis skatepark. awsome he was teaching kids , to not get strung out. He finished strong , and died sober !!!
I'll be 3 months sober in a few days i miss you jay boy hope to skate santa Monica one day definitely on my bucket list
The truest thing I’ve ever heard in reference to drug use is “you’ll get so good at them that you’ll gotta get help to stop” RIP Jay, even more impactful than your skating, is your testimony and strength of the will
I look up to him in style, maturity and mentality
Rest in Peace Forever Jay boy
I was laying in the hospital bed from IV drug use 8 or more years ago when they told me I would be lucky to live 2 or 3 days. Blockages in my heart on top of infection in my blood stream and being septic. I didn’t think I was going to make it and I never prayed at all but I prayed saying if you get me out of this I’ll never touch a drug again. I kept my word and I’ve been sober 8 or more years. It’s been so long I lost count . DRUGS KILL the soul of a man and his motivation. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Congrats on your sobriety!
I didnt know he died until today. I'm very out of the loop. I've lost my reason to live. But every reason to skate, get hurt really fuckin bad, get back the fuck up, fall, fail, slam, learn, ache, become confident, try again, repeat, do it again, relearn, understand, CONCRETE, LAND. KEEP SKATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SHIT!
Jay Adams, Rest In Paradise ! You’ve done so much for Skateboarding and the passion of it all, you will always be a constant reminder to the roots of where it all started.
Damn…Hearing him say how good he was at doing drugs just blew my mind. Ive never heard an ex-addict phrase it like that before.
Loved him dearly, a very sweet friend. RIP Jay
Grew up same area doing the same surfing/skating lifestyle. And, like Jay, I saw the Light and cleaned up.
My Natural High is Jesus Christ-
He's the Real thing. RIP Jay.
This is an awesome video, love what you guys are doing by spreading awareness about not needing substance to enjoy your life
R.I.P Jay Adams

Endless inspiration. Rest in Power Jayboy ✊🏼
RIP......solid vato
He was a huge inspiration! Rest In Peace Jay
RIP the legend! He is my inspiration to skate 🙏🏻
I started out smoking cigarettes as a teenager, then drinking, then weed, then ecstasy, then mushrooms, then speed, then mdma, then cocaine. Was a wild ride. However I was always able to stop when I actually wanted to. I guess I got lucky in that sense. I’m 39 now and still smoke weed but just once a week and occasionally dabble in coke a handful of times a year. I definitely don’t recommend drugs or would say I’m proud of it, but man I’ve had some fun times and some crazy memories. Although a lot of it is quite hazy.
You see Jay's nose that's what drugs will do glad I gave Coke up when I almost OD on it not gonna say my left nostril ain't a little messed up but it is a little.
it's all good til you get some fent-tainted stuff....too dangerous to be worth it today
Thanks Jay for the truth! RIP✌️
Thanx jay love it rip homie
Addicted to life
RIP Jay
RIP Jay boy
We'll miss you, Mister Adams
Proud of you bro
Miss ya Jay Boy!!!
Gone too soon, absolute ripper. RIP Jay
Thank u Jay! Praise God in Jesus Christ 💯❤️
I like how he said you become a slave to your drugs. It takes up all of your time and energy to get it and use it that you don't have time for anything else. Time to live and enjoy the world and your time here on earth. Plus, he's the GOAT of skateboarding 🛹
Love ya brother.
Junkies start out drinking alcohol. Jay first started drinking, not smoking weed. He even admitted it
i was smoking weed constantly. ive been addicted to heroin for a year and im about to kick the shit hopefully.
I started smoking week years ago. Never expanded to other things. Never drank much alcohol and i have stopped smoke on many occasions, at times for moths and years at a time. People are more than capable of handling marijuana without going off the deep end
@@deatheternal720 hope it gets better for you bro 🙏 your not alone in your struggle
Also I never drank. I've never even had more than a single drink and that was on my 21st

Rest in peace Jay boy.
well said
Rest in Peace mate.
JAY LIVES
High cost of living is nothing compared to the cost of living high. 🧠💨
I had a lot of fun with Jay, mostly we were high.
This video must have been shot during one of few times Jay was sober.
2hrs later...🧠💨 He battled his demons until the last days.
Aloha Jay 🤙🏾

He was pinned out in this video
Holy shit! He has two different nostrils.
I can't believe you provide this amazing detective work free of charge on youtube. What a great public service!
@@b00gi3 must've got hung up on a piece of coping dr, sic.
@@b00gi3 LMMFAO!!!
That's what happens when you snort drugs up your nose.
Alcohol was a gate way drug for me
Crack or sellout? Is there a difference?
Yes
Lsd was my gateway. Weed is my get right. Rip Jay Adams
He's absolutely right every junkie pretty much starts out smoking weed but not every weed smokers a junkie I've been smoking weed since I was 11 years old and I'm not gonna quit now yeah I'm cleaning sober I don't drink and I don't use hard-ass drugs I smoked weed and maybe eat some mushrooms from time 2 time. Wheat has been nothing but help me and keep me away from hard drugs

Great skater - sad he fell into that X-ian grift.
Th
"I never wanted to be like Kelly Slater or anything"... lol.... (in reality Jay was way more of a legend than Slater). Rest in Paradise Jay boy
What happened to his nose?
Snorting drugs.
seems like a good guy but just on look at his eyes to see that hes still on opioids
Weed IS NOT a gateway drug.....starts with nicotine ✌️

Like how you don't take responsibility for making Andy Roy an addict u should have stayed in that hole
All respect to jay but dont blame the weed man my aunt has been smoking for 50 yrs and never touched anything else
Hes half as right but not on pot like come on as a atheist there's always room for education about drugs he's not a good candidate to discuss about cannabis!
They'll pay you, keep lying.
His nostrils don’t match…that’s from snorting *TONS* of coke…the same thing happened to Stevie Ray Vaughan…
ile never agree with anti cannabis logic....you have to know WHY you picked up anything to begin with..thats the problem...I don't agree with abusing cannabis..but it does not make you want to be a heroin addict..you choose to use heroin because you have something you are trying to kill and cannabis didn't do it for you...alcohol and drugs are bad..cannabis is not a demon..RIP jay
Tbh that is too much elipis
Check out the book Higher and Higher. It's an interesting take on the way that cannabis use can lead people on to harder drugs.
@Jack Rubble I almost entirely disagree with you.
@layne stayley I thought you were dead
Cannabis traps you. I know first hand.
