I wonder how many people are post humans in the day to day imperium? Because I am right there with you on this, like I'm sorry but Astartes are huge even out of their armour lol.
@@walterTbaggins to be honest I know about post Humans and gangers, so maybe some kinda thunder warrior like augmentations, or drug/chem treatment to augment above "average" size and strength, so I can see it. Haven't seen much of any mention to post humans except maybe Necromunda gangers or Worker Servitor mentioned in HH novels, but it IS the imperium it's a huge place. One of the defining things that stands out to me about Astartes is their level of stability, whilest yes they are super soldier's, they aren't (usually!) Set to fits of rage or massive bodily failure once their geneseed is matured unlike Hive Gangers or Chem enhanced soldiers such as Thunder Warriors. Yes I am tracking the Blood Angels and what not, but as a whole I believe the Dark Angels stock was stable. All in all I can get behind the idea of the Fallen using sneaky tactics to survive for sure. But I still think hiding the sheer bulk of a Space Marine is still a difficult task, probably one of the first tricks they need to learn if they want to operate in or around the Imperium. Then again it's a massive empire so the idea of hiding in plain sight might be more of a practical thing than a mere novel idea. Thanks for this engagement...never thought I would think this hard on how I would have to hide a bloody Space Marine!
To say “slightly less refined” comparing an abhuman orgryn to an astartes is ludicrous… of Ryan are just large retarded humans, astartes are post-human genetically altered and engineered creations of technical immortality, never aging or becoming sick, no fear… bodies that allow them to punch their way out of a tank or endure punishment that would kill an average human countless times over.
To spit acid, to go into hibernation, to connect to their warplate, to understand, make decisions and read information at a unreasonable rate. To never forget anything…ever.
Meanwhile ogryns forget regularly where they left their guns, they’re scared of cramped spaces and are generally child like in all but bodily aspects. A marine in an armwrestling contest with an ogryn could rip their damn arms off and beat them to death with them… without breaking a sweat

It drives me nuts how they gave Cypher a role in the massive lore dump and plot advance of the Gathering Storm, left it/him on a MASSIVE cliffhanger and have done absolutely nothing (or worse, forgotten) with him in the years since. Not even a hint or mention in Vigilus or PA...its a real shame
@@skywatcheradept maybe with the Lion nowhere to be found for him he went to His fathers only superior, the Emperor to get His orders, maybe even to tell him where he Is AND/or Intel gathered.
Apparently they were going to do a Cypher Audio Drama like Our Martyred Lady, but the pandemic put the kibosh on that. Hopefully it will still happen so we can get more with Cypher.

Another awesome breakdown, I've just finished reading the Horus Heresy book Descent of Angels so this is very well timed :D
I imagine some Fallen must feel like Samurai Jack, after having been flung into the nightmare future of M42, where evil is law.
Now that I've devoured most of what I was interested in in 40K... The Dark Angels are a lot more interesting now... Great vid...!!! Look forward to a continuation of Luther and Cypher's stories...

Out of curiosity, are there any stories of a Fallen who has reintegrated himself into Imperial society out of a sense of regret where said Fallen has willingly surrendered to the Dark Angels once he's been discovered?
there is one story about DA who stayed in stasis for 10k years and was later founded by Fallen. Then after a time they were captured by DA

How do you hide the fact that you are an Astartes and become a planetary governor, and no one talks about the 9 foot tall politician in Power Armor?
As I recall, some Dark Angels were augmented humans. So outside their armor they were massive, but not transhuman size and without the transhuman dread.
They may also use psychic powers to cloud minds, or operate through intermediaries and stay in shadows.
Or maybe they claim to be half ogryn

Perhaps it's just me but the lore seems worse now. At least before it was open to interpretation. Now it's definitively confusing. Now that's it's clearly chaos and not some unforseen motivation, who are the watchers and who do they support? Both sides? Why do they support the ones who destroyed their world? Seems to make a whole lot LESS sense now.

For me the attraction for collecting, painting and gaming DA was always the personal interpretation of the facts of the Heresy which are hardly mentioned anymore or are twisted - like the Lion’s hesitation to attack Horus, being intentionally late for the final battle makes Luther’s sense of Chaos in the Lion deliciously possible and the motivation for the home world’s attack on their returning home a plausible action of defence of their home.The watchers are another good point !
Alot of great DA history disappears when they lost their feathers like the painting of their fallen comrades ashes onto terminator armour ... ps Luther was never a spacemarine but he was almost better in most respects for me :)
As for the sons of The Russ I thought Logan Grimnar knows about the Fallen and has promised to never reveal his knowledge and aide the Dark Angels
The Lion was the corrupted one, the Legion fought to purge him and they wounded him mortally, they had to escape into the warp from collapsing Caliban and many became corrupted..
The "Fallen" are actually the good guys.. the DA chapter (who were with the fleet at Caliban) has covered it up for millenia, that or face exterminatus.. simples... no retconning allowed this is all heavily suggested in the early lore.

Honest question: What would REALLY happen if knowledge of the Fallen got out? Beyond hurt pride, what would actually happen? Renegades and traitors are nothing new or shocking.
Well, that answer was different in older lore/editions. Until roughly 5th edition, if the truth came out they'd be declared a traitor legion hiding in plain sight, and they'd be labelled traitorous extremis. In the OG grimdark no one would believe their sincerity - especially as they had for 10k years committed various war crimes to hide knowledge of the fallen.
These days, post- Wulfen and especially after Guillimans return and the occasional alliance with Necrons and Aeldari....it wouldnt make any impact.
Unfortunately to write that out when its a core tenet of their writeup would upset their fanbase
The DA aré the two.edged sword with the power in their arsenal to wipe.out entire sistems, they aré the first Angels of death, if they where to be cornered and make enemies of the Imperium It would be disastrous for MANKIND as species, try to see the whole picture not just factionwise.
So that's why my brother has been acting weird for the last few years... fallen bastard

Was hoping for some new Fallen rules and models but alas it wasn't meant to be. For now I still run Cypher with 3 squads with Alpha Legion
