- There were a bunch of awesome releases in the RC world this year and picking out the Top 10 I enjoyed the most is always a very difficult task. But after lots of thought, I think I had the best time with the ten you’re about to see in this video. Note that this Top 10 is comprised of RC releases that we featured on the channel in 2023. It’s not cars from previous years or cars we didn’t test.

For me Tamiya hands down has the best looking vehicles. You can’t look at them and not envision a full-size version of that vehicle that you so badly want to drive.
*_Thank you for doing what you do, and being a true pillar of the RC community throughout so many years!_*
Being in my mid-40s, I fondly remember picking up the newest magazines every time we went to our local grocery store in the late 80,s to early 2000,s . Wishing you the best for the upcoming year and thanks for all the videos
For me definitaly the Armma Mojave 4s. Not only because off durability, looks, handling and so on, but much more the fact that it is a (first) real contender of the 6s line, but with all the benefits of an 4s. I find that very innovative from Arrma.
Thanks for what you do! Gorgon gets my approval because my nephew said it was an awesome gift. My goal was to get him to play outside.
Thank You for watching! That’s awesome to hear about your nephew!
For us old timers... the magazines of the 80s 90s... were the source ! I atill have many of my rc car action and rc driver issues...love to thumb through them from time to time and reminisce ... thanks for rolling with the changes and the great content for keeping us old guys(lol) up to date
YES! I still have stacks and stacks of rc and gun magazines. I still enjoy the articles
RC Car Action and the Tower Hobbies catalogue were such an important part of my childhood. My first rc was an Associated RC10L SS. I hay baled fields on my street and did a paper route for 3 years to save up to buy a kyosho inferno 1/8 nitro just to have it all stolen when our house was robbed. This past year I got my step son a senton for Xmas. Before I knew it we had an XMaxx as well 😂
There were so many fantastic new trucks this year. I appreciate your opinion and hold your recommendations. Because of your decades of hands on experience from print to video I think you should do a top 20 possibly on your second channel. Always a big thanks for all the time and effort you put in to creating such a high quality professional overview of these products. And thank you for always keeping the reviews professional, informative and relatable for kids to adults. I can't wait to see what comes next year.
Thanks! Not sure if I can knock out a vid for RCD2, I took some time this December to be with the family. So there’s a ton of RC stuff that came in that I need to catch up on. I try to get a little bit of something in my vids for everyone, but being watchable for everyone is most important. That’s what helps the hobby grow. Happy New Year!
Great picks and nice recap of what was best this year.
Great list Greg! Always love the videos.
You are the best RC reviewer ... period. There are lots of entertaining RC channels I watch too ... but for actual RC journalism and enthusiasm for the hobby I go to you. Thank you for making the hobby great and attracting new people.
I have a question for you and a quick story before I get to it for context. I'm nearing 51 years old, in 1975 I'm nearly 3 years old playing RC's with my dad. We had Jerobee kits, which were mostly a fiberglass frame (looked like an old circuit board, probably was), and some suspension bits. We made our own tires, battery packs, etc etc. So in 1976 when we saw a Tamiya kit we thought ... wow, innovation and the future! We had to buy these, build them, drive them and race them. I never even saw a Team Associated car until the mid-80's. So for me Tamiya was this forward thinking company with the BEST RC cars. They weren't "vintage" cars. All these years later my opinion is they're just resting on their laurels and have done nothing for the hobby in 30+ years. Now many people look at them fondly and have reimagined them as a "vintage" brand or as you said, "RC model maker.' I say no ... they just gave up. Meanwhile Aarma, Losi, Team Associated and Traxxas have been born and succeeded making truly innovative and modern designs.
Here's the question (finally) ... how much longer can Tamiya go on just resting on 30/40+ year old designs? How big of an audience is there for these old products? And doesn't that audience get smaller everyday?
Excellent list and have to agree with your #1 pick.I have one but what Losi did with having an rc motorcycle that actually works was awesome. And yes! I do remember going to the magazine stands and waiting for the new subscriptions to come
out. 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome to hear you read the magazines!
I think the Outcast should be number 2 however I do agree with number one it’s very different
hey i love ur work and the knolege you shar thank. you sir 👍👍👍
Another great year in RC! Thank you again for all the content and insight you've provided. Looking forward to 2024, Happy New Year!
Absolutely! Happy New Year my friend!
1:40 my speakers vibrates a little 😊
Tamiya and fms has the people with really good sense of beauty, I mean their products looks so nice I have rainbow running from my mouth 😅😍🌈
Thanks for this list and our RC entertainment 🎉🥳🤩
Happy new year 🎉🎉🎉
Great reviews as always and thank you for another great year. I remember reading your magazines when I was a kid. Absolutely love them. Thank you. Great choice on number one the Losi ProMoto! 🎉 Would love to see more Kyosho reviews and especially the Turbo Scorpion. My favorite RC Buggy as a kid.
Remember when the losi XX came out I bought a magazine cuz I had an awesome article.....great pics of the buggy.
I agree with your list although some of them are kind of watered down like the Stampede lol.. The Raptor gets a pass because it's somewhat of a new chassis.. I would add the Kagama for sure hands down to the list
Just found your channel today and subbed. My first RC was in 1986 Kyosho Icarus. I want to get back into RC again, been out for 30 years.
I like this nice job👍🏼🔥
I still have a few of those magazines
If I want a good in depth review on something this channel is my first stop to see if you did a review of whatever I'm interested in
Nice list !
Great vid dude.. love the Losi Promoto such an awesome release :) glad it was your top RC.. Have a great New Year in 2024.. Pete
Thanks! Happy New Year Pete!
Great job
Great Top10 video Greg. For me I have some picks of releases this year - the Gorgon, Kraton 6S EXB, and the 4S Mojave from Armma ; the TRX4 Ford F150 High Trail and the XMaxx Ultimate by Traxxas ; the KnightWalker from Element RC, Axial Adventures SCX10 Pro and the Jeep CJ7 ; Vanquish Products VS410 Fordyce and lastly the Squash Van MT from Tamiya. Looking forward to more awesome releases this 2024.
Happy New Year! 🎉 🍸🍾
Great picks!! Happy New Year to you too!!
Great list , Great channel , Hope you have an Awesome new year !
Thanks so much! Same to you my friend!!
Definitely one I would of put on the Top 10 was either the CEN M-Sport 2023 Ford Puma Rally or the
HPI WR8 Flux WRC 2001 Subaru Impreza. Both looked great and appeared to perform exceptionally.
Thanks for sharing your list.
Chapters would be really useful for a video like this!
I found your channel thanks to some of your How To and Maintenance focused videos. I would love to see you go back, reference the original video, and do a ‘make it current’ and/or ‘here is some more depth on the topic’ follow on videos. New stuff and bashing are nice and likely pay the bills, but the knowledge sharing and cool custom projects are also important.
Great great video. Personally I’m very stoked on the Stampede 4x4 it is a killer value 4 the fun you can have RTR
It's amazing how nice of a vechicle you can get for sub 300$
Great list Greg and Happy New Year. I would tell you my list but I'm posting my video later today😊
LOL, awesome, I’ll check it out and hit the like button! Happy New Year!!
Your channel and experience are amazing 💯 you put in tons of work and honest reviews...great top 10!!! are the magazines still available? I would actually love to read articles again, and look forward to the next month to come out...Happy New Year!!!!
I believe RC Car Action is still out there. You can find old RC Driver copies on ebay, but the publisher closed up years ago.
@@rcdriverThat's a shame most all paper is gone now, but I'll take a look for a magazine, But love your channel keep it up 💯
I just bought an Arrma Gorgon a few days ago. I have only had a chance to drive it for 5 minutes but in those 5 minutes I was thoroughly impressed with how it handles. I dont even think I am going to bother upgrading it. Hoping to make my own video of it this weekend.
Right! Amazing how much fun it is stock. Have fun with that video!
My son said why don’t you just leave this one stock when I told him how much better it performs compared to what we had , trucks like the Blackfoot.
@@RcPlayer-tt2vw Not to mention once you go upgrading it the rest of the car will no longer be perfectly tuned. I dont need alot of speed from a monster truck anyway. Im looking forward to bashing with this thing
There is the FMS FCX24 unimog which was just released at the end of the year with a 2 speed gearbox, it is superb!
I think this is the one I would put first.
In 2nd I just bought a Tamiya DT-02 Sand Viper and I like this Tamiya.
the 3 em is my element rc ecto black edition
I bought 6 rc this year, it was a crazy year for me!
you are the reference
thanks a lot
I miss RC Driver magazine 😢❤
My first RC in 1986 when i was 17 , was the tamiya hotshot 🤔
Arrma gorgon ! Best all around rc buy of the year! 🎉 great price durability quick ready to run very nice 👍
Racing for Promotos is going on. Got to give it a little more time due to delays. UK still not quite got them in, and Australia is still getting pre orders in.
I cant believe you didnt find room for the arrma mojave 4s😮😮😮
if you ask me (altho nobody ever did) rc car companies have been around for a long time cause they got the business model figured out. They don't have to come up with a different model every year so people keep buying expensive stuff so the company survives. They make money off of models, true, but as you said, people/shops stock up on parts. Those also cost money, those also bring in profits and overall the company actually prospers, instead of reinvesting their profits in the NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION BLABLA, they make parts and they assemble them when required to sell an RC.
Oddly enough 1992 was the year I went to my first major RC event, the world monster truck finals in Ohio. The sled pullers had 15-25 cell nicad packs and a couple could pull an S-10 truck. I still have a couple of the old RC mags, I'll have to check for any of your articles. Two vehicles stand out to me was a Bruiser with copper tubing around the motor for cooling and someone made the APC from the second Aliens movie.
Nice selection of rcs I have a subscription to rc caraction still 👌
I'm in Wester mass, is there any skate parks in your area that you recommend? I've been to RCMADNESS a bunch of times and i'm looking for a new bash spot.
The Gorgon looks very similar to the 2WD Voltage.
Traxxas just released interiors for the TRX4 Blazer (trx9114) and new Blazer clipless bodys (trx9130 and 9131) with clear windows. Hope you check them out.
One of my favorites was the losi baja rey 2.0 in the isenhouer livery. Too bad it's not available in Germany.
The slash raptor r and the fiesta rally 2s-bl are awesome too.
Omgosh i use tead those magazines Ben Franklin sold rc back store had all magazines and i had midnight pumpkin truck so much fun but now um 45 rc cars way better had nitro hawk 13 years old now got 3 crawlers and couple traxxas monster trucks
Bigrock 6s? Id say its worth being on the list
I want to see losi make a Can-Am X3 version of the razor Ray
nice but I liked the mini LMT more than some of those if you know how to play monster jam it.
I liked the Mini LMT too. But I think the original soaked up most of the fun factor for me.
Tech tips was the best. You would say to yourself every time “WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT “ 😂 and I believe you had readers rides too
Oh man! Tech Tips would drive us crazy. We’d sit down in the conference room for hours to come up with those each month.
84 was a great year! I think I had rc10 & turbo optima w/ magnum jr.! Love your channels! & like I said b4, u the man on CZcams for rc!
Great intro in this video
I remember RC Car Action in early '90s Great time
RTR 👎👎
That bike is awesome 😄
Miss the magazines
Ok Greg, I'm one that just doesn't "get" Tamiya. That said I'm open minded and am willing to give them a shot. So I'm experienced in building, so I'm not intimidated at all with any kit. With that information which Tamiya kit should be the one to win me over to them? I like all genres of surface rc. Short course is probably my least favorite.
Mojave 4S should’ve been on the list.
Very fair list! Shame there’s no nitros 🤷♂️ hope for next year 🤞
I’d love to see more nitros come out next year. I geek out on tuning engines. I miss it.
@@rcdriver love that you still do! Don’t get my wrong brushless is a crazy fast & powerful world; but sometimes you just wanna make a racket and smell the nitro fuel burning! 👍
I haven't ran nitro in years.. got revo 3.3 stashed in the basement. Might have to get it out for a rip
I miss the smell
@@FastSloW-qt8xfand the sound,thats super cool
No Mojave 4s? I was waiting for it at #1. It doesn’t even make the #10 spot?!
More Traxxas please.
I’ve got a bunch of Traxxas vids in the works.
I hate the new Traxxas BL2S, took away the VXL 3s capability. Should have added the stronger parts to the VXL in my opinion
I contemplated a gorgon, but I've been seeing reviews for these for 6 months now and the shelves are still empty.. same with the losi mx.. I'm tired of that crap
The gorgon is popular, so yeah shelves are gonna be empty. It’s been on back order from arrma for 2 months. Don’t be mad that you slept on it.
Went to local hobbytown they had full display and kit on shelf.
8:21 I’m sorry but this model, like all the others AXIAL’s, is SHAMEFUL for what you’ve got for the price.
Where are the locking diffs ?
Oh sorry. WHERE ARE THE DIFFS ?
Where is the 2 speeds gearbox ?
This is just unacceptable.
The very little FMS right next that one in the video, got WAYYY MORE STUFF than this joke.
For a fraction of the price of course.
WTFFFFF AXIAL ???
PS: oh and a stupid brushed motor OF COURSE. For almost 600€/$…
I’m done with HorizonHobby brands, except ARRMA who did an ABSOLUTE HOME RUN THIS YEAR.
Bravo ARRMA, chapeau bas.
Arrma stole 2023. Their entry level stuff is incredible, and their bigger rigs were beautiful too.
I was totally expecting people to race the Losi Pro Moto. I was hoping for some motocross style tracks and flat track racing-- Which would have been and still will be an awesome idea 🤞
Traxxas just released interiors for the TRX4 Blazer (trx9114) and new Blazer clipless bodys (trx9130 and 9131) with clear windows. Hope you check them out.
