The key is that realism can work if the reaction is also realistic.
The fact Mr. M over there gets away with shooting a main character, and nobody else goes into a rampaging fury like a Pathfinder Barbarian, tells me it is not realistic.
Plus at the funeral scene, Ghost still has his mask on. The people making this could not even be bothered to make a scene where Ghost does not have his mask. That is not realistic in the slightest.

It honestly makes Infinite Warfare campaign incredible by comparison. As standard as that story was the characters of that game were a highlight.

Does anyone remember how Price got emotional breakdown when Soap died but when now when Soap dies, Price doesn't react even though Soap is part of his family and only say's this "He was the best of all of us". I mean like damn, what about that emotional breakdown you did in the OG MW3?!
That's the problem with removing one of the main characters from the 2019 game. We were all impacted by Soap's death in the originals because we had played as him/played with him for three games straight. We know what he and Price went through together. In the new games, you don't get that.

@hankfromdabank2988 corporate greed, bloated budgets, nerds and geeks getting pushed out of the dev team in favor of activists and diversity czars, whales constantly enabling predatory practices, gamers constantly allowing and defending botched release after botched release, game journalism sites getting paid to give favorable reviews, same sites farming outrage clicks and political think pieces instead of gaming news/reviews. The list goes on and the cracks are showing. Legacy game sites are going dark more and more frequently and AAA studios are also shuttering from constant bad releases or just agitating their fanbase intentionally. Maybe it'll all implode maybe we'll see another revival/renaissance in gaming or maybe itll just stagnate like it has been. Who knows?

Well this campaign has everything wrong and is surprisingly awful, so in some ways it's an improvement.

@@jamesallaeys117 Some parts were fun but you can see where they got lazy and then of course theres the way the narrative ended showing that this was something not intended for a full experience but rather something that would be finished either down the road or in another game.
But hey man if you enjoyed it, thats all that matters. I enjoyed it too for what it was, just a shame that there wasn’t more for us.
I love how in the original Soaps death marks the climax of the entirety of the series. Here it caps the lowest point in Activision’s history.

I actually feel bad for those COD campaign enjoyers, many had hope the story still can be good
The biggest middlefinger for me is the fact that the no Russian mission was just an entire cutscene, and you don't actually try and kill any of the civvies, would've been better if the gun misfired into them or they shot a bunch of people and had gloves to prevent their fingerprints and DNA from being tracked instead useing farahs friends to incriminate her and the ulf. Would've gone much better if one of Makarovs guys on the plane waited and made sure he made video evidence that included audio of someone shooting civvies from behind the curtains instead of just relying on half asked phone recordings and Blackbox stuff as well as farahs friend coming out gun blazing after getting drugged with something that makes her go on a hyper aggressive murder spree.

It doesn't take too much effort to come up with a hard hitting fps story with lots of natural drama and all they had to do game play wise is literally play it safe like mw2 and then go hard or go home on mw4

Well, not defending the new COD games, but I actually find the new Makarov's design kind of more interesting. The old one was just your standard big bad action movie guy. The new one looks like a humanized jackal, which fits his character and what his role is.

Also a cool blink if you miss it moment in this level, if you pause around 27:31 - 27:32 Makarov can be spotted in an ambulance right as a civilian gets hit by a car. Sheperd briefed you guys that first responders and medics can’t arrive on scene until the threat is dealt with. Same for the guys in the VIP room. Campaign sucked but its cool when things like this are included.
Stuff like this and how good the last MW games were makes me believe that this is another case of good devs being set impossible and crushing deadlines, explains why everything is done the quickest way dev time wise (copying maps and gameplay from and existing COD game) and why it’s so short.
Yeah they had 16 months to make this game instead of 3 years like normal even though the recent 3 year games still suck

I remember in the Piccadilly mission from Mw2019, the game did not punish you for accidentally killing a civilian or two in the shootout, allowing you to proceed.

Do you guys remember bo2's campaign where it had side missions that had you playing tower defense? You could deal with enemies however you liked, set up traps, sentries, squads etc.
They basically took that, and made it an entire campaign, but worse.
I loved those missions because I would try and keep as many of my guys alive as possible

There are somethings I despise a lot on story writing.
One of them is giving the antongists TOO MUCH plot armor for the sake of continuing the story.
Personally, my only issue with reboot Makarov is he was shown too much, I mean it's nice to see his POV for once in the story that has not been done before in the og trilogy, but I like the mysteriousness surrounding him more. I have no problem with the actor's performance.

I honestly think the level locations for the open combat missions are pretty unique, which makes them a bit more interesting, but they really just don’t innovate the warzone idea enough for it to be considered new.

I think another issue with these games is that TF141 is trying so hard to *prevent* war so much to the point where avoiding war isnt even tension creating if we know they won't put effort into a war scale such as the OG MWII + MWIII

They created an amazing mode in Warzone and instead of using it as a second chance to reignite the franchise the heights they were at 10 years ago they decided to be lazy and use Warzone as a crutch.

This brought me back to when I played Halo with my friends lol.
In my mind, Modern Warfare 3 doesn’t exist. It was a hallucination. No one died. They were all just having a bad dream.
Warzone killed CoD. But you know they won't learn from this and will make the next game even more open, bland, AI filled maps, with even less story.
There won't be any AI or objectives. It'll be a single mission where Price has to waltz all the way to Verdansk and tango with Makarov using the newly-acquired legendary blueprint weapons he got from the canon CoD Store.
Old school Makarov was scary and intimidating looking, I'm glad they toned him down wjth a baby face here
