Noob Trucker in the UK, bringing other new drivers the heads up on what its really like as a new driver. Milti drop and otherwise.I have been driving commercially for one year now and my vlogs are here to show you what driving a HGV the the UK is really like, I don't delete the bad bits its all raw and as it happens.

Manual won't be great when stuck in stop and start traffic 😞 Not a fan of manual trucks, just adds an extra bit of work which adds up over a long day, and that you can do without imho. Enjoying the New content though!!
Sod driving a manual. What’s it like driving one Jay? Your left leg must be tired. All the reason why I would rather drive an Auto. 👍 Looks like a nice DAF though…

That alarm in daf's is so annoying I don't know how drivers put up with it
They adapt to it
You get used to it with a DAF, it's always going off for some silly reason or another. Dash lit up like a Christmas tree is another DAF trait. 😂😂
jay you shud have looked in the essential truckers book from malcom green jennko swears by it lol ,,, so good to see you in a decent truck altho its alittle older than the volvo you can tell its been well looked after ,

That bleeping noise from daf brings back bad memories from when drove one for couple of times. Otherwise great video, looking forward to more.

Hi Jay, that may have been me asking if it was a 3 over 3 as I have to drive a DAF CF rear end loader with a 3 over 3 with splitter, it does take a bit of getting used to but I think I'm getting there, I'm sure you will too. If she doesn't want to go in gear try flicking the range switch up and down to start with or failing that switch off then back on and it should reset itself, I'm out in the CF on Tueaday with lots of Mendip hills to climb 🙄 don't worry about crunching the gears a bit, they take practice after driving an auto box. Have a good holiday
Jay as been said, if its struggling to change or get into gear from pull away, flick up and down on the range, always works in mine 👍 get used to the da da da tone too 😂
It's a nuisance that da da noise never stops and when it does within less than a minute it's back on again 😂

YOU CALL THAT NETTING! back in my day we used to sheet livestock down to stop it running away! This after driving 19 hours straight between bolton and oldham, no roads back then see!

I really like your videos i was actually a truck driver for 8 months before i started to watch your videos and now i want back behind the wheel and may even get a long haul license and start long hauling aswell

Good to see you flicking the switches. Looks like a 3 on 3 12 speed like the old Volvos? I always presumed the XF's were 4 on 4 like the CFs. Sadly my old manual Scania's been retired after nearly 2 million clicks & i'm in an auto now but it's nice in traffic & i'm loving the fridge & a/c even though i only do day runs now. Send her on drive.
Yep 3 o 3 I was in a 21 plate Volvo with same box not long ago
Sometimes drive a daf, they’re not a bad drive, acceleration delay and the alarm noise is annoying though. Much prefer the Renault we have. They’re a smooth drive them
Jay you was in my home Kidderminster and you was by drakelow tunnels Wolverley you did amazing getting down there it's tight even in a car

Have a look at russel worthing channel. He did a video a few years ago about roping and sheeting and how to do a dolly knot.
No wonder the previous driver left. Bet he got fed up with the DAF warning dong!
Same gear box as mine can be a pain mine dose that gear thing i just flick it back to high then into low again that sorts it..... dafs all fun and games
Why don't you leave your boots on the step it stops the cab getting dusty and stops everything in the cab being wrecked then just use a pair of trainers to drive in

I passed in and used to drive manual trucks so not a big deal i will make a vid showing it

No issue for me. Fancy watching a truckers vlog and being bothered about the engine sounds. It’s like watching a David Attenborough documentary and it being spoiled by bloody nature 🤣

Nice one Jay lad👌I’ve gone from driving a 16 plate Scania automatic 8wheel tipper In Manchester to driving an 07 plate Volvo manual 3 over 3 split 8 wheel tipper in Castlebar County Mayo in the west of Ireland 🙄
thats a jump and a half m8 , the 3 over 3 shud be clutchless once moving

You'll be in the garage less with that old Volvo, bet it pulls better too. Not getting into a brand debate, but newer trucks don't seem to pull like the older ones.

I can well understand why you do not want to reveal where you are. The problem is your satnav gave enough hints, the road ouside tht place and nearest A road you could google the answer. Just thought I would mentionit. I like your blogs and appreciate the effort it takes

Cannot believe that van driving in front of you in that parking area especially as you had your indicators on showing where you were going. What is the passion for country lane deliveries lately. Really impressed with your professional approach to vlogging Jay. And what the rest of the Road Leg Ends are following. I watched that video from 7 years ago when that piece brake checked you in Northampton and there was a lot of Cnut and Fuff words sent over the Tube. Although quite justifiable on your part 😂. What you do now can’t reflect badly in any way on whatever company you drive for as it’s a lot more err family friendly. Although that was too sweary time but it shook me up how aggressive that bell end was when thinking how I’d feel if it happened to me. He must’ve been a coke head. 🙄
Great vlog 👍🏻 I've been following you since your class 2 days 🙂. I was wondering if you would of any company who will take and train a new class 1 driver 🙂 I've been class 2 for the last five years 👍🏻👍🏻. I passed my class 1 a month ago and have been looking for jobs that will expect & train new class 1 passers 🙂. I don't live to far from Trafford park area and I know all the haulage companies around there including maxi. Any advice you have would be really appreciated thank you 🙂🙂
