- Hello! Today I'm trying the new elf Hydrating Camo Concealer compared to the original elf 16hr Camo Concealer. This is supposed to be a more hydrating formula for normal to oily skin. I try the two concealers and share the difference in the finish, coverage, and feeling on the skin.

I’m so glad I found someone who had the same problem with the original concealer. If I didn’t immediately blend it it would dry soooo fast and I couldn’t blend it out.

@@larissahonda3053 i accidentally got the matte one without even knowing there was a different one (hydrating one) until after and it’s bad like dries fast so i ordered the hydrating one today. hope it works better
the hydrating is a life saver for my dry under eyes . i can even build on the dark spot, i dont have to set it and it doesnt crease!! total game changer!

So glad I came across your video Emily! For the past few weeks I've been in search of the perfect concealer for me. I've tried the original 16hr Elf concealer. At first, I loved it but by the afternoon, I began to see creases and fine lines. I'm 43 so def don't need those...lol! I didn't appreciate that I had to work very quickly due to quick drying time. I just bought the new hydrating formula yesterday and will be trying it today. Loved that you showed what it actually looks like without foundation. I don't wear foundation. Instead, I use blushes that I can blend throughout. Thank you so much for the review as it was very helpful. Will def be watching your videos!

The other day I was about to buy one of those but then saw there were two different ones (hydrating v matte) and didn’t end up buying it bc I wanted to see first if I could see someone comparing it. I’m glad the shades changed because I wasn’t able to find a shade match in the regular version. Plus I didn’t like the formula of the original.
Yes I am glad they changed as well because I thought they didn't make sense before. I just think they should make up different shade names.

I have medium sand in the original and bought light beige in the hydrating and they match really good! It drives me crazy they’re not the same shades 🤦🏽♀️
Interesting, bc i found hydrating light beige to be MUCH whiter than medium sand from the OG matte. Medium sand (matte)is my skin color but brighter, whereas the light beige (hydrating) makes me look goofy ghosty everytime i wear it if i dont add a ton of bronzer 😅
I just made this mistake :( got light sand in camo and it's perfect figured the same shade in hydrating would work....ugh....nope....too dark, so I'll be returning it for a lighter shade
@@bitsofpolish hey! Did you find any shade in hydrating variant that exactly matches the matte light sand(the original one). I was using the original one in light sand, it exactly matched me, but the hydrating one in light sand settled darker on my skin, i'm unable to find the exact shade in hydrating one now. Will be happy if you help me finding the shade! Ty.
@@tahreembutt5952 I managed to find a close match by checking my original shade in store with the hydrating one beside it...however, I do feel that the current hydrating shade I have is a bit pale in me 😔

Yeah I saw a new display of concealers so I took my shade in the matte and held it against that shade in the hydrating version and could immediately tell a difference! I'm med sand in matte and I have to get light peach or light beige to be similar. The mediums in the hydrating formula are like the tan or darks in the matte! They should have made a statement on the website to recommend going up a few shades... But over all I love it

Hi Emily, I’m almost a year late in finding your video, we haven’t had the product in UK very long but I found the coverage is great but what is going on with the shades and their names?!? I bought my usual shade AND fortunately got a fairer shade too but how annoying! Great demo. Look forward to seeing more of your CZcams videos x

I think you should try a shade lighter for the new concealer. I feel like that might have an effect on the coverage. It doesn't seem fair them being two different shades. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong
I definitely agree. Like I said in the video, I thought it was the same color as the original, but it was darker.
Although the original one is problematic in blending that I have to blend quick I still love this. Because the coverage is phenomenal. What I do with it is the less is more theory. I have a bit lined underneath but my skin is a bit oily as well so hydrating one would only make my makeup slide away.
I have the same issue but I don’t want to waste the product so I use the maybelline age rewind concealer (shade neutralizer) as a base…works well and I’m not wasting either product.
The elf website has a chart that compares the 2 and says the original dries darker and new one does not but both end up being the same colors. I have tried and is true.
Yes I know the one dries darker and such but I still don’t like that I got the same shade name in both and they are different colors

I think they changed the color because the new one is more accurate with the name. The original is too light to be called sand Shade :)

I’m not sure if im using it wrong I have both and when I put them on it gets real cakey looking:/. I’m kind of new to concealer so I tried a little dot of the concealer but it still looked real cakey! I put primer under my eyes and blend them out but I can’t get it to look flawless:/
I think elf purposely made the original lighter because it's formulated for oily skin which oxides and make the color darker so it's supposed to end up matching the hydrating one. But wow what a color difference!

It looks like the matte one has more coverage, you should try mixing the two!

I am really excited to try the hydrating one. It looks glowy and so pretty. I think the matte side looks great too. How is that real techniques powder blending sponge? Almost bought it the other day but didn't. Thanks! Oh and wow that BB cream looks so freaking pretty.
The best sponge ever!! I am in love with it! Applies much better than a traditional sponge does.

Emily Freybler so u think it’s worth getting that sponge just for powder instead of using just the normal real techniques sponge? And do u use the powder one wet or dry?
Yes I believe it is worth it. It applies so smoothly and doesn’t make your powder as wet as the original sponge does. I dampen it just like I would a regular sponge!

No definitely doesn't dry darker. It just is darker out of the bottle. I would go a shade lighter.

Hi I have dry skin (not super dry, a little dryer than normal) and I tend to get a tiny bit oily at the very end of the day do you think the regular would be okay if I moisturized well and used a hydrating primer?

I’ve got fair/light skin and wear the original in medium peach, which always made me laugh. I wonder if they kind of corrected that inconsistency which is why the shades don’t match between the two formulas.
Yes I'm sure that's why but it is still so annoying they had the same names as the original if they did that.

Same. Very fair and medium peach was my best match in the original, which makes me laugh. I've never been medium in anything! If anyone knows a good match in the new one, please let us know!

I thought I grabbed CC cream but I grabbed 16 hour Camo Concealer and it SUCKS. It doesn’t blend and my combo skin made it flaky 😭

I remember buying the original and i bought light peach and i was like ummm this is super light! Then i bought medium peach and was like um ok this is like still very light! I feel like the hydrating shades seem a little more on target
hey girl think your description is wrong, you said "this is supposed to be a more hydrating formula for normal to oily skin" i dunno if you were supposed to put dry as the new hydrating concealer is for normal/dry skin types as ELF had complaints about the matte one being too dry on dry skin types. There is a comparing on their website and it says the matte camo concealer is for normal/oily skin types and the hydrating one is for normal/dry skin types:)

What's satin? N is it good for dry skin?
Satin is kind of a mix between matte and dewy. It's right in between. I would say it would work for dry skin for sure!

When I tried this concealer it literally dries up on my face so fast and then doesn’t blend after. It’s very dry, for me at least

The old formula does look like it covers more but I do have to say you are too young to use that much under eye concealer
Call me cynical, but I'm guessing ELF mismatches the shade names so people will end up buying more units. They sell such inexpensive products that marketing has to be... *creative* to make up for lost revenue (compared to other companies).
Ugh! I ordered mine from Ulta online n got the same shade I have in the original! The same concealer (even if different formulas) from the same brand should b the same shades!!! N if they are NOT the same shades then they definitely should NOT have the same names!!! 🤦♀️😡🤬

Then it would still b a little annoying having different shades since they are the same brand n even from kind of the same line (camo concealers) but since they’re different formulas. But understandable cuz they’re different formulas n the shade names are different. But making the same exact shade names implies they will b the same as the original!! 🤦♀️
