I could believe it, like how shoto only used his mothers quirk cause she hated his dad, and how dabi will only use his fathers quirk because he wants to reveal to everyone that he used his fathers quirk to commit murder.
In another comment someone said that dabi's burns look more like ice burns. So what I think is that he was training to try and use his ice quirk and almost froze himself to death, and created that fire to save himself. He doesn't use his ice because of what it did last time.

@@CheesecakesFL It also explains why his skin looks more elastic and dead/blue. When cold is involved Blue/purple is a common color theme. Fire would just disintegrate the skin/turn it to ash. He could just be using the ice quirk on a small level 24/7 just to keep his body temp at a below average level so when he uses his fire quirk it slowly starts to heat him up

It has been said in the manga that Dabi's body was made to withstand extreme colds, not heat, and so that's why his body get's burned by his own flames. It would make quite a bit of sense if it was because he has a very strong ice quirk, perhaps ice that *overrides his fire.*

@@kazumakurogane497 As has been proven by the manga now, he does have an Ice quirk, but it turns out that it is incredibly weak, only able to appear when he reached the point where his body removes its primary limits so as to allow him a chance at survival, if minute.
Its the same vein as a mother lifting a car to save her child. Under normal circumstances the body does not allow a person to lift a car, but when adrenaline is pumping throughout the body, a drug that essentially makes you stronger, and a high stress level is reached, the body will remove the limits that protect it from destroying itself. You may be able to lift a car, but your bones would break in the process. The body removes the limit that prevents a person from breaking there bones so that they can lift the car.
This applies to dabi, in the sence that he has reached this Hysterical Strength, and so his Quirk has been supercharged in a sense, and can finally show the ice part of it, as the base line strength of his quirk has been pushed so far, that he is now a walking, talking bomb.

I think Dabi will have an "Absolute zero" Quirk where he can freeze to absolute zero just like his blue flames through the extent off abuse & trauma he suffered from Endeavor growing up! I can imagine endeavor unleashing his most powerful fire move and as it's about to hit Dabi he remains dead composed as this giant fireball is hurdling towards him an he looks up and we notice his eyes look a piercing blue colour, he grins then let's out a massive blast of ice around him, completely exstinquishing endeavors flame! 💯

There's a good chance that AFO will give him an ice quirk or something similar. I mean genetically he's already there so it's not impossible even if he doesn't have the quirk awaken to make it happen. Whatever the case if he ends up with a half half quirk Endavor is no match for him and even Shoto will struggle if you think that Touya has a superior flame quirk. At the end of the day ice is only useful for these guys only if they can use it to cool down the engine. If touya manages to learn that while he's using cremation then he'll have a massive advantage.

I think his ice aspect is an extension of how his fire might work. His flames were described as 'cold', this would mean that heat is actually endothermic. It pulls energy in to sustain its temperature. Heating causing things to burn is a misunderstanding. Fire is a chemical reaction that generates energy, but it also involves carbonizing. Imagine wood getting charred. That's the chemical aspect of fire at work.
Now imagine heating something up with water. Boiled and scalded. You don't get the same 'burn'.
Endothermic reactions while 'burning' feel cold, because it's pulling heat in. The fire could sustain itself endothermically and then proceed to burn things like fire would carbonize things. You can have 'cold fire' that way. The chemical burning of fire but the heatsink of an endothermic reaction.
Now where does the ice come in? Well, you can pull heat in without actually starting a fire. It would cool other things by putting the heat somewhere else, creating ice or chilling things, kinda like a fridge. The back of the fridge is really hot because it's siphoning heat and putting it elsewhere, here it's behind the fridge.

@@ItsThatKidGreg ehhhh. No. He has an Ice and Fire Quirk, but the ice part was so weak that it could only appear when he reached the point of Hysterical Strength. Its not an evolution, or a misunderstanding of how his quirk works, but instead, a hidden aspect that was to weak to be seen.
I've heard the theory that Dabi's scars resemble frostbite so maybe the ice that kicked in to save him is what caused his scarring and not his fire....

Let's just acknowledge how much of a writing genius Horikoshi is. Like he pays attention to the littlest of details when he writes, and when he does give us the readers clues to something big that will happen later on in the story, he executes it perfectly.

If this is the case then that means that Dabi has been holding back this entire time against life or death situations. Waiting for the right opportunity, in the biggest spectacle, to show Endeavor that not only did he discarded his first born and branding him a failure, but that this "failure" was in fact his perfect heir.

I figured it out. As his emotions get more intense, so do his flames. So the less intense, the less heat he has. This could mean that when he's completely calm, he creates ice instead of flames

So we all know blue fire is hotter than red fire so what if Dabis ice quirk is like dry ice/ the coldest ice/thing you can get, it would make sense imo,

Maybe Dabi's quirk is tied to his emotions. As a child he was energetic and as an adult he has been angry for years. Maybe his "death" was the first time he felt extreamly afraid which triggered his ice quirk.

If, and i mean IF, he has an ice quirk, it could actually make sense why he hasn't used it. Remember he said that his flames were also the "flames of Endeavor." He wanted to use his fire power, his father's fire power, for the evil acts he's committed to tarnish Endeavor's legacy. Using an ice quirk wouldn't do that, and would also probably have revealed is identity to both the league and the heroes a lot quicker
It would also make him mirror Shoto a lot more if they both renounced part of their quirk over Endeavor's treatment of them

This is exactly what I'm hoping for if he ever receives a quirk-awakening. Rather than emitting ice like Shoto, his Ice Quirk would act more like an insulator maintaining the inside of his body whilst using the fire quirk on the outside of his body. Keeping him in a state where he could constantly use his flames. This would make him sort of a "Super Endeavor" lol.

Pretty sure this theory was just to hype up the viewers. Of course, it'll be cool to see Dabi with both quirks and being super overpowered, but it'll just seem like really lazy writing and overly convenient for Dabi to randomly have ice too. This is just really wishful thinking.

Cremation is a popularly speculated name. It is drawn from Dabi's name, which is translated directly as cremation
Personally i think his ice will be his downfall.
I feel like the ‘ice’ in him is basically based in his skin... So every time he uses his quirk he’s literally melting himself away. Maybe thats why his hair gained a spec of white as a sign of his ice quirk awakening and its what led to his severe burns.
Think about it, he had red hair, cyan eyes just like his father right? So essentially he was a carbon copy of Endeavour, just with stronger flames. His Ice quirk awakens and shows it’s presence in his hair. Now this may have not been a big deal, just like how Fuyumi (his sister) has red highlights in her hair, but still has solely Ice as her quirk. Its the fact that his skin started burning, and it was *shown* to do so AFTER the patch of white in his hair turned up.
It can be argued that his skin just finally started getting burnt because of the constant usage of his extremely hot fire quirk. That does make sense. But Touya was training with his father, constantly putting his quirk to use, and it just happened to be *after* that patch of white turned up in his hair, he began to burn his skin. (I don’t remember the page no. But it literally shows Touya saying “ouch” with a small burn on his wrist, along with the white patch in his hair).
Also - why is it that Endeavour only overheats, and never burns himself?..
Because his body is solely adapted for usage of his fire quirk. There’s no inherited gene or other quirk holding him back from using his flames, in that sense.
Like you mentioned Plot Armour, white and red hair does relate to a person’s quirk, especially as seen in the Todoroki family.
Dabi - or shall i say Touya Todoroki - may have remmenants of an ice quirk within him as a result of being born from a mother with an Ice quirk. It showed up in his childhood, and slowly overtook his entire head. Eventually, his quirk killed him. As his skin was melting, burning away every time he used his quirk. It would also explain the severe burn scars he has all over his body.
To conclude, its literally just a matter of time of whether it can be used to his advantage, or as seen in the past, be the final true death of him. There’s a chance that it may even be *both*: being able to use it as the power up he needs in the moment, but essentially killing him in the process.
Kinda poetic. By Dabi’s terms i guess..

That's what I'm thinking. It was pretty much stated that he had his mother's body but his father's quirk. Which is why he always kept getting hurt when he unleashed his fire.

What is his drawback if his ice is strong enough to cool his fire? There is no drawback at that point then he's just older shoto

What if Dabi's quirk is actually just Cold Fire, fire so cold that anything it touches just instantly dusts itself and burns simultaneously.
Blue flames are hotter than red flames. At least for natural flames that rely on oxygen. To be blue and cold it would need to be a chemical fire, that could be released with sweat. If this is the idea Touyas/Dabis quirk would be more similar to Bakugos.
My mini theory pulled from this is that Todoroki has weaker fire, but stronger ice, while Dabis is swapped.
That would be a cool dynamic.

@@ditto3638 Yeah, like Shoto was born with 50-50 then Touya first had 70 on fire then the 30 on ice gradually manifested as he grew older, but since the family didn't knew that an ice quirk would develop they just continued training his fire quirk. So basically even Touya didn't knew he developed an ice quirk. (This is all just addition to the theory in the video of course)

Just a theory of why he didn’t come back to his family, Endeavor said that when he died all they found was his lower jaw, what if when the accident happened it was because another kid stumbled upon him practicing and he tried to show off his power and burned that kid to ashes and he got scarred trying to save him, but failed and his mind snapped telling himself that he was really a villain?

Shoto was more like Azula then since he got what his father wanted since the begining. While Dabi was more like Zuko, but instead of chasing his honor, he chose to breaking bad and make his father suffer.

My theory is that the white hair represents his skin turning more weaker to heat. Assumed quirk Frostbite: Creates extremely freezing frost like mist that come from the burnt skin. Drawback it gives him overwhelming pain.
Dabi did enable his fire quirk really really early, so his ice quirk developing later would make sense. His ice quirk probably developed at the age where most kids get their first quirk, but due to how his family is he got his second one at that point.

A good balance would be for him to have a switch lag...maybe a few seconds so that he can switch in between his ice and fire quirks. That would mean that Todoroki would still be the only one able to use both ice and fire at the same time...so the only way to pull ahead would be to....yeah you guessed right.. sick combo moves!

@@Adamklo well it's simple. It was a latent part of his quirk/2nd quirk that he had to be pushed to the limit before finding out he has it. Some quirks don't fully make an appearance till the user is pushed to a certain point. The video even agreed and said that. It is a possibility and I do think it would be intriguing but at the end of the day my opinion is mine and yours is yours. Thanks for telling me what you think m8:)
@@victory_joker6310 Dabi has “cremation” witch is essentially more powerful “hellflame” and also is more vulnerable to fire due to his mothers weakness to fire that he had inherited. I think that this would be pretty shitty if dabi had an ice quirk because shoto in this case being just a weaker version of dabi. Also I think that burning the holy FUCK out of your skin should be enough for the ice quirk to awaken. It would be pretty scechy if I wasn’t enough to awaken it.

While Shouto favored his ice quirk and was less skilled with his fire, Touya/Dabi favored his fire and is less experienced with ice. If/when he gets redeemed, I can see a good sibling rivalry between the two(2) Todoroki brothers where they push eachother to greatness like Rei predicted.

Toya got Marie Antoinette syndrome because of the amount of harsh abuse and training he endured by Endeavor as he got older, which was the same thing that made Kaneki's hair turn white during his time being tortured by Jason.
Should he have an unknown ice quirk, part of me wants it to come out when he makes amends with his siblings. Yes, he hates his father, rightfully so, he puts on a cold attitude towards his family, but his siblings genuinely care about him and mourned him. He wants to bring down his father, and the corrupt hero society, but I'm not 100% sure he'd be willing to sacrifice his siblings for that. Maybe something happens, Shouto or another sibling is caught in an attack, Dabi has a change of heart when faced with becoming just like his father in sacrificing his family for his ambition and moves to protect them. Desperation to protect his sibling forces his latent ice quirk to manifest. Bam! Wtf faces all around, and Dabi gets to gloat to his father.

I like this theory of Dabi unlocking his ice quirk. Hopefully in a battle against Todoroki in upcoming chapters? Having Dabi use both fire and ice quirk could make endeavor realize how selfish he truly was in the past against Touya.

Why toya’s hair turned white is also like why shigiraki’s hair turned white, because of their quirks.
Both Nine, Shigaraki, and all for one have white hair, and Shigarakis hair turned lighter when he got his quirk so maybe being given a quirk by all for one is what if causes your hair to turn white, and Dabi's quirk coming in again is what made his hair turn white

I have a different look on his white hair. I believe that it could just be because he inherited the element Nitrogen (N) from his mother and when he uses his fire quirk, he also uses that part of it too. The reason why is because his mother most likely produces ice because she stores liquid nitrogen within her, but when carbon subnitride (chemical compound that has carbon and nitrogen in the formula C4N2), or Dicyanoacetylene, reacts with oxygen in the form of combustion, it can produce a bright blue-white flame that can be as hot as 4,990°C or 9,010°F. This makes sense as Dabi has bright blue-white flames and would also makes sense for his hair colour turning white as it could just be the combustion reaction taking place and so therefore his mother’s genes are used which leads to the colour of his hair changing to white.

Given Dabi's high temperature flames and how powerful and hot they burn, I would imagine him to high an even more powerful Ice ability over regular ice. Maybe something like dry ice.

Dabi refuses to use his ice quirk due to the trauma of his father. The ice quirk would cool his body and prevent his body from cremating. He will begin to use it as the ultimate fuck you to endeavor.

I wonder if Touya’s body started developing a ice quirk once it realized that the fire was going to hurt it. Kinda like a adaptation for survival which I feel like would make sense since the building blocks are already there so it’s possible that if his body has a extended amount of time to process the damage that his fire quirk was doing then the body would try and build something to fix that, kinda like how the body does with new illnesses and antibodies.
The fact that he has a potential under developed ice quirk and the fact that he has a fire quirk that is the hottest type of fire makes him even more powerful.
