  • If you are tired of your Formica countertops, but don’t want the hassle and expense of replacing them entirely, then this may be just the answer for you!
Using a plaster called Meteore, you can trowel on a new look in a just a few easy steps!
The first step is to sand and clean the surface well, then rinse twice. Then proceed to apply Meteore in the color of your choice. I used putty knives and my index finger(I wore gloves) for the tricky areas like the rounded edges. Two coats are required with a day of dry time between. Then sand unwanted ridges and vacuum up the residue caused by sanding. Then proceed to apply a water resistant clear coat. I used a two part product made by Novacolor.
I applied two coats, making sure the first coat was dry before applying the second.
The final step once the clear coat is dry, is to caulk around the sink basin for the finishing touch. That’s it! Wait 48 hours, then your new countertop is ready to be put to use! This technique can be used on countertops and even shower walls!
I put yes these products from Mave Alft, of Mavs Decirative Market. She sells two products that are both appropriate for countertops and shower walls.
You will find a link to her page below. Feel free to contact her with guest questions and to place an order!
