That's what makes Jack Burton so awesome. Does not do shit for most of the movie, he reactions are priceless and he kinda acts like a audience member. He is in disbelief the whole time of the events that are going on and just goes with it.
From what I heard, John Carpenter wanted a Asian lead but knew studios would not fund his movie that way. So he made Jack Burton a tag along friend with Wang Chi. It worked. But never forget. Jack Burton is a great man, and we are in his debt and showed great courage.

So many memorable quotes. I had a hard time choosing one. Because if the breakneck speed of this movie, I do recommend anyone watch this movie 2 or 3 times.
Fun Fact: The Three Storms were partly the inspiration for the popular character of thunder god Raiden from Mortal Kombat fighting video game series, while David Lo Pan was the inspiration for the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung.
Blade Enthusiast Fact: The short knives wielded by the "Three Storms" warriors, that Thunder calls "Hui Huan Dou" (Soul-Returning Blades) are in fact Nepalese Kukri. These knives are used by all Gurkha military regiments in the British Indian Army.
Studio Hacks Fact: Kurt Russell confessed on the DVD commentary that he was afraid of starring in the movie because he had made a string of movies that flopped at the box office. When he asked John Carpenter about it, he told Kurt that it didn't matter to him - he just wanted to make the movie with him. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell explain on the audio commentary that the test screening was so overwhelmingly positive, that both of them expected it to be a big hit. However, 20th Century Fox put little into promoting the movie, and it ended up being a box-office bomb. In addition, the film was released in the midst of the hype for Aliens (1986), which was released sixteen days afterwards. However, it went on to be a huge cult hit through home video. Carpenter and Russell explained that the reason the studio did little to promote the film, was because they simply didn't know how to promote it.

One of the funniest martial arts action comedy fantasy movies ever made.
This was originally going to be a western taking place in 1906 with Jack Nicholson or Clint Eastwood in the role Jack Burton, a gunslinger meeting up with his childhood friend, Wang Chi, an expert in martial arts and ancient Chinese mysticism.
They try to stop the evil sorcerer Lo Pan from conjuring an earthquake that threatens not only San Francisco but the entire world.
There were talks of a Sequel and a reboot with Dwayne Johnson as a trucker trying to figure out what happened to Jack Burton and why he disappeared as well as teaming up with Burton to stop Lo Pan once and for all. This would be cancelled due to the Fox Disney merger in 2019.

I was laying on the couch watching this movie when a bat came through the fireplace and started swooping down at me. I put the cover over my head and went to tell mom. She went next door to tell my grandfather, who came over and caught it in a blanket. He told to get him a knife. I brought him a knife and he killed it.I always remember that when I see this movie.

If you like this movie, you may also like The Golden Child (1987) with Eddie Murphy.
It's similar in vibe, uses some of the same actors (James Hong, Victor Wong). Eddie plays a private eye who's hired to find a missing child. This takes him to Nepal to fight an ancient demon.
It's not very well known but a great and fun 80's movie. It's Eddie in his prime. This movie is what you get if you mix Beverly Hills Cop with Big Trouble in Little China.

You want to watch this? LOL. Remember, back in 86, there were not too many tough guys. Arnold, Stalone, (older Eastwood, Bronson, and of course Chuck Norris). Kurt Russel was a comedic bad ass. Your review will be interesting. Your content is always great

Kurt has been funny in so many movies, but seeing Sylvester Stallone funny and sometimes quiet in that one and Demolition Man with Wesley... it's just amazing some of the star power that they put in these movies and I could care less what "critics" say!!

Ah yes, another amazing 80’s movie. This movie is triple buck wild. Shit just goes off the rails in an alley in China Town and then never stops.
The fun part about this movie is that Jack isn’t really the hero, Wang is. Jack is the sidekick but he thinks he is the hero.
Some of the best cheesy dialog and just a wild story.
Now when anyone asks if you have seen this movie, you can say “Have I paid my dues? Yes sir, the check is in the mail.”

Supposedly This movie, and Jack Burton's character, was originally written with the intention of tying it in to 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension' . If you watch that film you can see similar humor and campiness. Buckaroo Bonzai is cast full of Hollywood legends, is a cult classic, and very funny.

What was Mortal Kombat inspired by?
Image result for mortal kombat origins
Inspired by films like Enter the Dragon (1973), Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983), and Bloodsport (1988), Mortal Kombat gave unique backstories to each character competing in a mysterious, fight-to-the-death tournament with potentially world-ending stakes.

@Extraordinarily Ordinary Media When you mentioned that you thought it might be in China and not China Town, I think people tend to call the tight-knit communities of various nationalities in America "Little China, Little Italy, etc." There's a sort of Little Italy area just outside of Cleveland (I went there when I had to go to a doc up that way) and damn the food is good. The place was called Trattoria on the Hill. They had the best Chicken Marsala I've ever had in my life, and if you get up that way, check it out.

This was in heavy rotation in the 80s in HBO back when there was just one HBO, so I grew up watching this movie. It isn't exactly high cinema endeavoring to win Oscars or anything but for a popcorn movie it's pretty fun. It is also because of this that when someone tells me 'See ya later' that I often reply, Never can tell.
