I highly doubt GT campus police will be involved in any high speed chases in their 3 mile radius
I'd be curious to see Georgia Tech's pursuit policy, if I had to guess it would be a no pursuit policy. Campus police departments tend to be more like security guards. 😉

Eventually someone will figure out how to hack into your electric car and shut it down before the chase starts.
You do realize most modern ICE cars are reliant on Computers also? I trust the security on certain models of EVs much more than Tier 1 ICE suppliers. The easiest to hack seems to be FCA UConnect with Pentastar V6 Engine.
You watch too many movies
One fender bender in that electric car and it’s totaled
Stop with the lies. Entire fender would have to be ripped out for the car to be totaled. The battery is very far away from the fenders.
@@NeojhunYeah but you have to admit, cops would think twice before attempting pit maneuvers.
@@ElMistroFeroz Why? Those battery packs are designed to withstand high-speed front-end collision. The only thing you're risking with a pit maneuver is a bent axel and possibly a cracked radiator.

It ain't about horsepower, it's about torque.
Not when it comes to top speed.
@@stuwest3653 gas cars will still have more horsepower
@@stuwest3653 Battery powered vehicles don't have a top speed. Speed is limited by the wheels.
See Wired Magazine article on battery powered cars circa 1999.
@@thanosianthemadtitanic It depends on the car now doesn't it?
@stuwest3653 indeed so we shouldn't make blanket statements as your first comment
So can most dodge chargers and challengers. You have to know how to drive it though in order to be successful
I remember watching a program on the TLC Channel back in 2001 that mentioned a concept device equipped in cruisers that could send a signal and systematically shut down a vehicles ECM, thus stopping a fleeing vehicle almost immediately. With cars basically becoming computers with tires today, why haven't they found a way to prevent both the perps and the police from endangering the lives of the general public in high speed chases now?
On the highway EVs lack top speed…the mach e takes off quickly but struggles to reach 120mph
It's the take off speed that allows them to disappear quickly before a ICE powered patrol car can even hope to see where the suspect went. Hopefully, they're working on a way to shut down an EV quickly before it barely even begins to be a pursuit.
Still can't beat the radio.
Or helicopters
At least one agency caught up that EV are way waster than gas powered cars.
I mean the video I see in the beginning shows the cop slowing down when crossing traffic intersections, seems like the officer is being as safe as possible during the chase. The other driver "DOESN"T" matter what car could care less about safety. This is not about an EV being able to outrun the cops lol
Chasing a Tesla with a mach-e is as smart as chasing a hellcat with an explorer.
Ford must be buying a lot of vacations for comptrollers.
Mach e GT version would out run any Non Performance trim Tesla. Vast majority of Tesla are not the Performance version.
It's a police cruiser variation. They are able to do illegal things.

High-performance BEVs are perfect for GT campus and metro Atlanta PD vehicles. Civic organizations around the world are discovering the many advantages of BEVs. Clean, quiet, economical, low-maintenance and will last far longer than comparable ICE vehicles. No more detours for fuel and ICE servicing, can be charged overnight right where they're parked and instantly ready to go. Need to be beefed up with cruiser bumpers, heavy-duty brakes, lights & siren package, interior additions of course.
The original batch of Tesla Model S sedans just turned 12 years old, most are still on the road with their original battery packs, still getting regular free OTA software updates that add features and improve performance and safety.
clean, dont know about that, most US energy still come form coal so it still as dirty as ice and it battery pack is as dirty as u can get.
quiet, imo if a 5000 pounds chuck of metal is speeding at 100mph+ down the road i want to hear it especially if it form a blind corner
low-maintenance is nice but the trade off is it it in a fender bender with another vehical which is what they usually do all day long, its a total write off if the battery pack is hit or dent
unless teh cop vehical can get offline, being online to tesla network leave that back door for any hacker to just disable the car remotely.

@@yia01 "tesla network leave that back door for any hacker to just disable the car remotely" that's wrong. You can take Tesla off the network and put them on your own private hosted server. Quite sure a police department has the option to do that.
A Lucid Air Sapphire might be the only car with the performance and range to escape GSP 😭 I’m in california but i’m scared of y’all’s cops 💀
My MachE GT has been flawless. I’m all for Diesels for towing and the sound…
What they didn't mention is EVs require downtime to recharge, which presents an obstacle for police use. A police vehicle must be ready to go at all times and at a moments notice. In a prolonged high speed pursuit, the batteries are drained more than twice as fast than in normal driving situations. Police changing over to EVs would have to at least double their fleet because after one shift is over, the vehicle must be down for recharging. So, it would become necessary for each shift to have their own designated vehicles.
You act like they don't have lunch breaks. A 10 charge would be enough to finish a shift . With shift change the plug it in but they're time they read to go it charged.
@@LaJuanHughes If the previous officer remember to recharge it lol!
Ok boomer
@@billwylde4846 it will only happen once. Even so he could hit a super charger. Still cheaper than a gas car
@@LaJuanHughes It’s not about cost and shift change, it’s about presence and range, especially for Sheriff’s Offices and State Troopers. Cops don’t have a presence when sitting for over an hour charging a vehicle. I can guarantee you a shift charge won’t be enough time to charge the vehicle for *a lot* of departments. It doesn’t work if you’re about to take a charging break and an important call comes in, then you’re screwed.
Plus there is a fuel powered vehicle an electric vehicle cannot outrun and that’s called a Helicopter. Once the fleeing EV runs out of juice, the cops will be there whether it’s the chasing cars or other agencies, because mashing on the gas doesn’t destroy their range in an instant.
That’s why it’s only useful for Security, Campus Police, and maybe some city police.
1200 HP Trackhawk will SMOKE THE FUCK OUT THAT POLICE CAR😂
He narrated this wrong. He said the Electric is No match for the combustion engine......
WTF nope, it's not a fair fight to make mass produced Combustion Engines compete with EVs. ICE is simply inferior.
The gas cars have a considerably higher top speed. For state troopers getting from 0 to 60 is less essential since lines of sight are much longer on highways than they are in metropolitan areas
Its a bad idea to use electric vehicles for police vehicles we all know what happens to those batteries when they burn and cops are always crashing their vehicles not including the fact that the cost for maintenance or crash repairs is going to bankrupt taxpayers
But it still can't outrun the shame of owning an electric car.
Only issue really is charging it. Officers can't wait for it to fill up all the time. Same issues for everyone else really. GT has a smaller area so it works for them.
Yet it works for other Police Department covering a jurisdiction many times bigger than GT.
They are not going to be doing any high speed pursuits or any real police work its probably against their policy. She’s just wearing a costume.
Yeah. And checked off the right boxes.
Just gave the Kia boys another reason
That's kinda why cops are getting kitted-out police Tesla cars (not just exclusively Tesla, any fast-ass EVs they can put their grubby mitts on). That way they can catch up with faster suspects. Still, it's wild how fast electric cars can go out WOT.
To those anti gun ev owners. You don’t need that sort of speed to go to work or school or groceries or whatever you go to.
In a 3+ hour highway pursuit the EV wouldn't last. The gas powered vehicle will out distance every single EV.
"3+ hour highway pursuit" No such thing, stop talking nonsense. Good luck surviving a highway speed pursuit for 30 minutes. Probability of DEATH is extremely high. Before attacking EVs try to use an argument that is REALISTIC. You are spamming nonsense.
Gas powered won't out distance an EV because it can't even stay on the road or wheels on ground. The EV will simply out maneuver and out accelerate the ICE car during an unusually long police chase. Police Chase never last longer than an EV's range capability.
This is a stupid idea especially when they have a track record for endangering the public.
No worries. Electrics cannot match gasoline on endurance.
Gotta toss ina couple fuel cells,a/s wheels etc; with extra load. Probably even upgrade the suspension to McPherson
And gasoline powered cars can go 4 times farther than electric police cruisers
This is just a lame excuse for this Dept. to waste money on a car they have zero use for.
You mean save money on maintenance and file costs
@@LaJuanHughes You mean potential money issues in the future to replace the batteries and users forgetting to charge the vehicle for the following shift.

It doesn't make sense that we have speed limits but are making cars faster and faster. How many lives could be saved every day?
QUICKER, not faster. All these car are stilll restricted to the industry limited 155 mph. Mainly due to tire and wheels limitations.
@@Neojhun you have a monkey brain
This report fails to mention that at those high rates of speeds and acceleration, the performance of the evs derates. It cannot brake quick enough or with enough torque to slow the car down. In fact, if you are a cop wait for the ev to crash or derate as it won't be able to outdo you in anything at that point. Also, if GT police get into a pursuit requiring those Mustang GT EV's, there is a good chance the HV relays will weld themselves in 0 or 1 position from the current load. Again, the components for these EVs can not do sustained track or high speed runs as an individual who has pushed one to derate. You won't get very far pushing it at sports car speeds in triple digits all the time the regen derates and the brakes cook an it is over by then.
Range will be the enemy....once you are in high speed pursuit the battery depletion is 3 fold & then its recharging for an extended amount of time
Yeah but the wear and tear is going to be 3-4x what a normal internal combustion engine is…
No it's not . do your research . Police are seeing it is cheaper .
@@LaJuanHughes oh so thats why no department used them right? Its not because the weight of accessories on an already heavy vehicle destroys the wheels, tires, suspension and not to forget the cheap quality to make them lighter causing the door handles to fall off and the lights to break and be faulty. Is that what you’re talking about? What other departments use them and then after a test even continue to use them or buy more?
it actually is less over the long term of a police car's life, as it doesn't need to keep an engine idling for hours at a time
Bro copying the car from New York💀
There gonna tell the suspects wait we charging right now 😂
Not enough battery for an hour to 3 hr police chase
But can they outrun the old two way?
I mean there's dozens and dozens of gas powered cars that can easily outrun police cars😂 their chargers take over 20 seconds to do 60-130😭 AND THOSE MACH Es TOP OUT AT 120 😂😂😂
NEWSFLASH: Drivers are still amateurs and often crash.
Cool and congrats to GT town
The battery in my "electric" radio will last longer as I call out its direction.
A Crash is far more likely to occur before the battery runs on on the EV. Model Y Police Car has no problem keep up with a Mustang for 35 minutes.
I showed a friend this and he flipped tf out. Why? I was just showing him a video
What the gsp need to do is start confiscating cars that are involved in chases and street takeovers start upgrading their cars with those parts because if these people running cared about their cars they would not have ran in the first place.
While I understand Police Departments need to try and keep pace, I also see risks to both officers and the public. These are very fast, but also very heavy cars because of the large battery cells. In my opinion, even the most seasoned pursuit officers would be challenged by the dynamics of these cars. They are well trained in the physics of how combustion engines vehicles respond to certain inputs while at high speeds. There would need to be a highly scrutinized driving course for officers who would be issued these powerful, yet deadly machines.
Speed doesn’t mean shit if you don’t know how to drive it well. V6 altimas give police a run for their money if the driver has a little know how 🙄

If the police wants real fast cars that can really be on chases and have a decent range, thenone and inly option right now is the Tesla Model S. It goes 0 to 60 in 3 seconds and has a realistic 300 miles range. Is heavy, extreme low center of gravity, so Tesla could tailor it for the police with a few uogrades, mostly to let the computer know it will be innchases that can result on some impacts (PIT) so it doesn't attempt to shut down the vehicle. Strip it from luxury, produce them in mass numbers, and every police departemnt in our country could end up repacing a big number of old school ICE patrolswith new Tesla patrols. The Model S Plaid would be even faster, ut much more expensive and might not be able to do well on chases with impacts. Another vehocle that could be tailored is the Cybertruck. But again, too expensive if they go for the long range battery and most powerful motors. But would be good for other thungs were taking cover from shooting is needed as the truck is partially bullet proof.
Does this reporter know how many modified Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, and Dodge products there are out there?

There are faster gas cars than police cars, what do you need to investigate?
Hello, For a college campus, it’s a great choice. Now let’s get to the meat and potatoes. These electric cars are built lighter than standard vehicles. The first or second time the electric car is rammed or a pit move is tried ,the electronics will put it in limp mode or completely shut it down. Also how long can that battery be in pursuit mode before being drained? I’d rather have a full-size caprice with a full tank of gas. Atlea#t I know that LT1 will stay running as long as the opti spark doesn’t fail. Lol
But not the radio and not for long.

Tesla Performance / PLAID EVs may be able to blow away all gas cars in the first QUARTER MILE, but after that gas cars reel in these EVs.

Don't be mistaken, campus police and even Marta police have state jurisdiction to pull you over if deemed necessary. All they have to do is let local police make arrests. And campus police like Ga State and GaTech issue way too many moving violations for their small jurisdictions, which is why student assaults are so high. Their officers are chasing vehicles and writing illegal parking citations.
Keep the gas, electric is for losers
Bruh i highly doubt these police cars have turbos, thats all you need
The police cars have the "enforcer" model, they are supercharged, but still no chance against an electric vehicle
@robertshank1131 what about a supercharged with a turbo? Would it change the 0-60 in 5 seconds to 3 seconds instead? Either way, at this point, it's too expensive. They should standardize some sort of hook onto these cars unless they want to keep upgrading each time there's someone or something faster
Gas cars are trash. EVs can outrun 2 million dollar supercars. Always have. Cops in Anaheim CA have Tesla Model Y with pit bumpers. Our KIA EV6 can outrun any Model Y ever made. 20 mph per second. Cops sit around most of the time so the range excuse is pure BS. They know it. EV's cost at least 5-10 times less to own. The also don't need service until 100,000 mile checkups. The excuses are just talk from people who know nothing and want to live in the past. PERIOD. Message me when a cop car gets 320 miles on less than 20 bucks and needs no servicing.
Who are you going to out run? You getting in a lot of races? You a criminal? Planning on getting in a high speed chase? Do you know how to drive? Driving like sex Everyone thinks you're good at it How does your EV handle? EVs don't work in the cold They won't charge They're heavy and are terrible on tires When the battery is shot it's done If it gets in a fender bender it's totaled It will make a good boat anchor You might as well buy a new car Enjoy your battery operated car...

Care to look up some facts? I did... Coal, the most abundant fuel source in the United States, accounts for most of Georgia Power's generating capacity.
