written by Gary B. White

Love will abide, take things in stride
Sounds like good advice but there's no one at my side
And time washes clean love's wounds unseen
That's what someone told me but I don't know what it means.
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time
Caught in my fears
Blinking back the tears
I can't say you hurt me when you never let me near
And I never drew one response from you
All the while you fell all over girls you never knew
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think it's gonna hurt me for a long long time
Wait for the day
You'll go away
Knowing that you warned me of the price I'd have to pay
And life's full of flaws
Who knows the cause?
Living in the memory of a love that never was
Cause I've done everything I know to try and change your mind
and I think I'm gonna miss you for a long long time
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time. - Hudba
Who’s here because of ‘The Last of Us’?
That episode had a great soundtrack.
I been listening to Linda Ronstadt since I was a kid because my mom but that show made me relisten to this song so much that damn episode was a damn emotional wreck ahahah

Kids. Old people have known about Linda for almost 50 years
“I used to hate the world and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong. Because there was one person worth saving. That's what I did: I saved him. And I protected him. That's why men like you and me are here: We have a job to do. And God help any motherfuckers who stand in our way.”
Yep 👍 Good show so far.
WERE NOT..GOING TO MAKE ANY NEW FRIENDS.....BECAUSE THERE ARE NONE TO BE MADE 😒 !!
“Hehehehe”
I think you mightve misheard the lyrics 😇
Man!! I love bill and frank so much!!!
I’m here because of Ruby Leigh’s performance on The Voice ✨
Right here with you. What a song. What a performance.
Me too!
yup
Always loved this song. But watching Ruby Leigh sing it, brought a tear to my eye.
Not Me.
I'm here solely because Linda Ronstadt is the Greatest Singer in the history of popular music. 💚
The Last of Us brought me here. Love will bring us all together.
I'm here because of the third episode of The last of us.
I live in Iran and I hope freedom for my country
Woman, life, freedom
Amen!
We hope that for your country as well.

Anyone still loving this in 2024?
Yes always and forever
Been a fan since 1967, no plans to stop in this lifetime.
53 years ago. Glad to see this generation is getting a taste of what was so common in our day. Great musical talent.
I wish I was born a baby boomer or gen X. Being Gen Z sucks and I hate the music we have today.
Amen to that. All these poor kids have now is pre-packaged, bedazzled crap.
And please, do not point out exceptions to me. I know there are exceptions.
But for the most part, modern American music=garbage.
"Music" for the masses.

Welcome tlou episode 3 viewers, we are gathered here to bask in this beautiful beautiful melody.
I know Linda is sick, but I hope she is well enough to appreciate all of the love that is pouring her way recently. ❤❤
I hope she is so happy. She deserves it.
We boomers had the best music 60's 70's 80's.
I am so pleased that The Last of Us series episode 3 used this song in it. It is such a beautiful simple song but with so much heart and meaning and now hopefully younger generations will get to experience the emotion behind the lyrics especially after watching this well done episode. Thank you Linda Ronstadt and writer Gary White for giving us such a memorable song 🙏
Wow I came here because I just saw the 3rd episode and that ending song captivated me
Such a great song
Going to high school in Tucson in 1962 Linda hung in the same crowd. She used to sing at outdoor malls on Friday night's. I went in the army after graduation. Linda told me to stay safe and gave me a hug. I will never forget that. When I got out 2 years later Linda had moved to California with her band The Stone Poneys who also performed with another group in the late 60s who thanks to Linda became the Eagles in 1971. Linda was raised right and in spite of the hippie generation then she never got caught up in the challenges of those times. I will never forget her and the beautiful voice made in heaven.
Yeah, Henley and Frey. I love her too dude.
That's awesome 👍
Married in 1974 - divorced in 1980 - still love her in 2024 after 50 years
Wow
That is so sad if she hasn’t been in your life all those years😢
That's beautiful, my friend. Going through a tough time rn w my love.
I've loved a woman my whole life, we were kids together! She married a good friend and lives on a lake, and I wish her the best!
Back then auto-tune was in the singer's throat. She had a truly rare and special voice AND dynamic self-belief. Watch a documentary about her for deeper appreciation. Rare talent indeed.
She had "perfect pitch" and was a perfectionist. Her gift, our gain.
"No, leave it. Leave it. This is good. This is Linda Ronstadt"
Who here after the last of us
RIP Bill and Frank 🥲😭🥲😭
I can't stop my tears

It’s crazy how a tv show, or movie can breathe new life into an old song. There’s a good chance the younger generation had no idea who Linda Ronstadt was until they watched The Last of Us.
It's a CZcams comment board cliche I know, but in this case it's true: No one holds a candle to Ms. Ronstadt. Her voice is in a league of its own.
My lady passed 18 months ago.
I listen to Linda and weep.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever written
Let's all take a moment of silence for our dear friends, Bill and Frank.
Linda can still send shivers down my spine when i hear her sing. Im gonna be 61 yrs old in April 2024. I grew up in the 60's and 70's listening to her. I followed her until she hung it up and retired from singing. She was every mans dream, no doubt. In my mind their has only been one female singer that would have ever come close to her power. That would be Whitney Houston. Thank you Linda for all the fabulous memories and all the fabulous music. Your a true Lady. Nothing but happiness to you!
@dirk4858 Well put!😊🇨🇦
SO WAS I Born in 1960
I’m here because Ruby Leigh sang this song on The Voice.. I forget about this beautiful song that brings tears to my eyes.
awesome
Me too
Me too wow
So sad for Ruby Lee that she did not get picked as the number one but she did get number two. But her rendition of this song was perfect.
I know that everyone is here after watching LOU episode 3, but instead of mourning the loss of two fictional characters of Bill & Frank( which was heartbreaking) let everyone not forget Annie Wersching, the actress who played Tess in the game and passed coincidently a week to the day her character died on the show. I dedicate this song to her. Rip Annie.
How sad. I was just looking her up a few weeks ago and appreciating her beauty after seeing her on Picard. So young.
We all came here to cry, didn't we?
Bill and Frank brought me here ♥️
I am crying right now , Just finished 3rd episode of the last of us 😭
Omg I’m about to watch the last one 😢
I came for a car battery... stayed for this bitterly sweet gorgeousness....
I came from the last of us . This episode has shown me that can gay couples are truly capable of love and have I this new respect for them . Love truly can come in all forms and shapes . xoxo
Gay love is love
Weird to me that its something that some people still need to learn or be shown in 2023 but either way good that it helped some people i suppose
My wife was shocked I knew the lyrics to this song. Lol! I’m straight as an hour but the love story in episode 3 was beautiful. Love! I know that feeling❤😊
A beautiful reminder that love is open for all to find, no matter who and where you choose to discover it with. It's heartbreaking, poignant, and achingly romantic
I'm here because I'm old and on a Linda spiral
I'm here because of Ruby Leigh's performance on the Voice. Linda's voice and this song just touches the soul ❤❤❤
AND Ruby sounds sooo much like Linda on this song, I love both, pure perfection. Nov 2023

The Last of Us will do for Linda what Stranger Things did for Kate. And rightly so, because most folk wouldn’t be here discovering this gem if it wasn’t for that.
Let’s all eat a Strawberry for the boys R.I.P

Me too, I grew up listening to Linda & love her, I wanted to compare the two. I’m not choosing, but bring tears to my eyes.
I"m so happy that The Last of Us has brought so many new people to Linda's beautiful music.
Hi Melissa 🌸🌸
1970: “I really enjoy it, it's a very nice song.”
2023: “RIP Bill and Frank.”
Legit cried when the episode ended, bill and frank were so well written 😢
As did I. This was a beautiful and welcome change to the source material.
It's sad and beautiful. Hearing tess va passed away made me sad.
I legit cried when society stopped caring about spoilers. Like The Hunters kidnapping Ellie in episode 4 and learning more about Joel's former association with them filling in some blanks over the past 20 years. Spoilers like that
@@_nauticaldisaster_ seems like you’re caring enough for society, so keep up the work 👍
The window view had me in tears 😓
I’m only 52 but I feel really old reading these comments of people who had not heard of this song or Linda. I don’t if I should laugh or cry or both. And RIP Bill & Frank, loved that episode.
Was singing it while watching Last of Us and my 30 year old son watched me in amazement that I knew the words!
I am also 30 and didn't know it either. Its so beautiful
Isn't it wild how our kids are amazed we know some cool things? I don't even believe all casual Ronstadt fans would have known the song.
Ditto, except my son is 14!
He liked it and let the episode play, and me sing, until the end of the song.
His face was priceless when I told him it came out 2 years before I was born and I grew up listening to it.
🤔 I wonder if they know what an actual ditto is? 🤔
Bill and Frank, thanks to the last of us series for this masterpiece! 🤍

i love that she is gonna get a revival ... best female vocalist of the generation. love that voice! welcome everyone, to the Linda Ronstadt experience!
In the beginning, there was Linda!
Probably the greatest song ever written about unrequited love. If you've been there, you know. I have.
Us oldies are duty-bound to let the younger generation know about Linda. They'll thank us
I played that album over and over again. Sang along with every song.
perfect in 1970 and still perfect in 2023,
asked my dad about this, he said it was huge & all over the radio when he was growing up; he's 65
Your Dad is So Right On and I’m 68 Years Old Now
Dad is correct. Different Drum was huge but when this one came out I cried. I must've been 10 or 11. Yeah, it touched me that much, and still does.
Whoever thought to put this song in The Last of Us is a genious. Not only has it withstood the test of time but I'm happy to see so many young(er) people enjoying this song. I just hope they will look a little deeper into Linda Ronstadt's tremendous catalog of music.

For those just discovering Linda Ronstadt and those glorious pipes- welcome. She could rock, she could roll and transform tough guys. She didn't need No stinking autotune and apparently all the Boyz adored her - Zombies included. Sigh...
Yeah, I'm here because of Bill and Frank too. What an episode. What a love story.

"The Last of Us" brought me here. Thank You.
Thanks to last of us for introducing me to this masterpiece 😭
I have to agree. Whilst I know Linda Rondstadt's later work I never really knew this song, even though I had heard it before. But older and more experienced.....this song just breaks me!
Bill and Frank got me sobbing at 2 am
"Hey Linda we're licensing one of your songs to a tv show based on a zombie game from 10 years ago."
"Ok send the checks to my accountant."
"Hey linda that show based on the 10 year old zombie game has 14 million people streaming your song overnight and will probably win an Emmy."
"Wait what."
After listening to Ruby Leigh, I realized I had not heard this song for a long, long time and decided to check in on my favorite talents.
Ruby is awesome
I have to agree. I forgot just how powerful this song is and what a great vocalist Linda was
Has a teenage boy in the '70s. I had a big time crush on Linda beautiful inside outside and a voice
You weren’t alone.
This song really speaks to me. The song perfectly sums up what it’s like to not experience a reciprocated love in your life; everyone gives you good advice, everyone encourages you and everyone tells you it will all be worth it when it finally arrives. But you sit there, night after night, alone. And you wonder what’s going wrong. You start thinking it’s just not meant to be for you, and maybe you come to accept it eventually. It’s just who you are. You’re not someone who’s going to love someone and be loved back.
And then one day someone falls into a hole right outside where you live, and you help them out, and they fill the hole in your heart. And it’s all okay.
The government ARE all Nazis!!!
Are you guilty of a crime local law enforcement should be made aware of???
Well written!!!
Linda makes me proud to be a Mexican/American
Linda made me cry a long, long time before The Last Of Us. Incomparable....
Sounds like you're just a homophobic who has no empathy for humans. Keep in mind that gay people have existed WAY before your evil religion ever did.
15 years old, my first love, that first feeling of never wanting to be away from that person, butterflies, my heart was going to burst... That feeling you push away, the knowing, and it is done, he explains he is in love with someone, not you... One last slow dance, this is the song...... Fast forward 2024, you visit them both... You see him, you hear his voice, and realize you still have the butterflies, they never flew away..........
The last shot with the window open....
I can't imagine what happened to Bill and Frankʼs corpse.

Many so called singers today can’t hold a candle to performers like Linda R.
That voice, with such clarity and emotion, was a wondrous thing. You’re so right, much of the music out there now is synthesized to death with screaming singers...
You might like Weyes Blood. And Laura Groves. There are so many great singers today. Sadly they're often so underrated.
I feel the same. Linda just stood there and sang and she sang the heart out of every song she sang. I so miss her. Today we have performers, divas. Even if you can admire a diva like Mariah Cary, she just contorts her voice. There is no emotion.
