Hi, they look very precision but why no small end bush?

R&R feels that the aluminum is adequate to act as a bushing material. We also saw this on late Triumph / BSA models that did not have a small end bushing. Small end bushings do add more weight, machining, etc - hope this helps!

How would these compare to Thunder Engineering rods?

The same, except thunder rods use rod bolts that thread directly in the rod, R&R uses a bolt and a nut
