I was in Clacton on Sunday for another reason and stumbled across this event by accident. Lovely to see all the Scooters and Parkas on display 😎. I have now looked into the history of this event it’s fascinating to hear the voices of those that were there on the day. Thanks for recording and posting this ❤
That was brilliant, thanks for doing this......also,i did not see any young, future generation mods, give or take another 20 years these events will be no more sadly. (i'm 61 and been a mod since '79)
Thanks for your kind words, I like to capture events as they are, & especially like talking to folk, for they have so much to share, these events are unique to our culture, now with regards to age, it's something I've noticed, I will say it reminded me very much of Trooping the Colour & Remembrance Sunday, it's a patriotic way of life, an event which happens in no other country with the same feel, when you leave the barriers in London you notice the culture change, be great if younger generations could take the mantle. Have a look at another video I made last year of the Essex Scooter Club that was great for me. my first event
Excellent video Paul! Brought back memories! I've lived near Clacton all my life, and the Mods & Rockers scene was all part of growing up in the 'Swinging 60's'. I always owned motorbikes, so I tended to be more of a rocker than a mod!!😁 Plus offshore 'pirate' radio was becoming very prominent then too. All added to the youth culture of the time!
Thanks, Mods & Rockers and Clacton it seems an odd combination on paper but once your down thier it makes sense, I've always been surprised they rode all the way from London & back, but then again my father & his mates would ride all the way to the TT on the Isle of Man
The first guy they interviewed at 01.00 said it was the Hells Angels but the first back patched approved Hells Angels in the UK were founded and approved in 1969 and I don't even think their was unofficial Hells Angels chapters until 1970/71 that were either battered out of existence and/or absorbed into the official UK Hells Angels.
I believe him, either way he was there, & it was a long time ago, I think before the Rockers the Teddy boys were around, it's interesting how clubs evolve
1964 I would have been 4 years of age.the 60 s music along with the mods has been my stuff.soul or northern soul which it became identified as at the end of the sixties was what I was mainly into.the casino at Wigan and other venues around the country iwhent to.yes 60 s music soul motown and mods is what we were into. It's still gong on. 1979 and quadrophenia .brilliant stuff.
The whole Mod scene I read was big up north, not just a London south thing, great time to be young I reckon, I just the 60s being born in 69 lol, but it counts
@@paulbutterworthbillericay no just a scooter guy who got an airbrush job done of hibs team and it won an award but then the bloke didn’t pay for the paint work ,It’s a Freind of mine who done it .Not a nice thing to do .
@Crosshatch1212 so many Scooters down there I didn't know where to look & I turned up late as well, I did notice a fair few do have nicely sprayed panels
Easy mistake to make, I think the Teddy Boys were on the loose back then, I remember seeing a documentary when the American bikers were invited over here to England & it all started from there

The first Hells Angel chapter was formed in London in 1969. So, well after the Mods and Rockers moral panic.
Thanks, remember it's a long time back the 1960s, I would think there were biker gangs around the time of 63 / 64
Epic, thanks.
