I Tried Cleaning Up The Streets of New York | Lucie Fink

  • Garbage girl Lucie to the rescue! Cleaning trash in NYC! You would not believe what the streets in NYC can look like sometimes... the waste scattered around the NYC streets can be a bit overwhelming at times, which is why I took it upon myself to clean the streets of New York City and pick up trash! I try to live a low-impact lifestyle in as many ways as possible, and I am all about trying new things… so I knew I wanted to try some environmental activism and try collecting garbage off the streets of NYC. As we all know, pollution and PLASTIC are major global issues. The plastic scattered on the streets and the plastic bottles / plastic straws in our oceans are NOT GOOD! The environment (and the entire planet) needs our help... it needs YOUR help!
I am constantly thinking of how to help our environment. Whether that's by collecting trash in my neighborhood or city, recycling and making sure my garbage collection is separated, living a zero waste lifestyle (I'm not 100% there yet, but I'm close), making zero waste swaps in my everyday life, going plastic free and using no plastic outside or inside my home, or living sustainably and making sustainable swaps when it comes to household products... the list goes on and on. All of these seemingly small actions can make a huge difference!
Low impact living is not as difficult as it may seem, but if you really want to challenge yourself, make a challenge video trying zero waste living and send it over to me! Also let me know if you want me to make any videos about how to be more eco-friendly / environmentally friendly, what clean products I use, zero waste tips / zero waste for beginners tutorials, how to reduce plastic, and SO MUCH more when it comes to the low impact movement.
Watch my video to see how much trash I was able to collect with one friend on the streets of NYC in just a few hours. If everyone today could please pick up at least 5 pieces of garbage they find outside, it would make me a very happy human, and would make our earth so much cleaner!
Tag me on IG (@luciebfink) if you collect any trash in your neighborhood, and I will repost you on my IG stories!!

Oh my gosh, YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! :D That's what I was thinking. The meet and greet could be totally free, I could just have a big team of people playing games, saying hi to you and getting a couple hugs, and go scavenging for trash in New York. And then if people don't live in New York, they could just donate a little bit of money do a charity or something, and you could send them a personalized video saying hi and thank you? I don't know how many people would respond to this oh, so I don't know how much work it would be for you, I feel like we could get you a lot of help in organizing it, and it could really make a big difference!!!!!!!!!!! :D It sounds super fun anyway. Also, I just want to say I love you, thank you so much for everything you do, you're a huge inspiration to us all. I love you so much!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t WAIT for part 2!
I live in a drastically smaller city than NYC, but when my partner and I did this in our community, we found the SAME AMOUNT and also were thanked by 3 individuals!
Just because only 3 people stepped out of the NYC hustle and bustle to thank you doesn’t mean you didn’t get countless others thinking when they saw what you were up to. 🌎

My children have been raised not to litter! Great job Lucie and friends.

Maybe if you went to a school to see if they would want to help and you could give them the school cash (schools in Tennessee do it, I think it’s called a rewards school. Mine did the tabs on cans and box tops in elementary school). I think it would be a great educational experience and good for the environment!

People who litter disgust me and its no exaggeration or overreaction to say that they are a waste of oxygen and do not deserve to live. It is a fact. Its completely backwards and crazy to treat nature with such disrespect. And so i am very glad there are people like u, setting a good example. I know this video is kinda old and im late to comment but keep it up, keep planting them seeds in peoples head. Earth knows we need it if we want to turn this evil around and make the planet healthy again.

America needs to pay workers to pick up the trash and people need to use their energy to do a kind deed for the less fortunate such as homeless people who did not put all that trash on the streets but it was people that wear fancy expensive clothes and act like homeless people are beneath them.

I’ve been picking up trash in St Paul, Minnesota. We pay enough tax for this to get picked up. What happened to community service or prisoners that use to pick up the trash?

If you lived in a state that paid for aluminum cans you’d make a few dollars like they do in Oregon you used to see homeless people picking up cans and bottles to make a living

👍🏼 also thanks for making videos that make it "cool" to contribute towards a better community and environment. I volunteer and spend time with people who are facing homelessness. ✌🏼 Be kind.
