    ANYWAY! Common Questions:
    1. This or the DDJ-800 or 1000/1000SRT? Or PS5?
If you have the budget get the 800 or 1000. It's a wiser choice in the long term. But if you're a beginner with a budget and like gimmicky features. Get the FLX6. If not, get the tried and tested DDJ-400 or PS5.
    2. Price? Availability?
$599 or 599 Euros. Available now. Purchase thru Amazon here: amzn.to/2IPcbQJ
    3. How do the faders, pads, and knobs feel? Size of faders? Quality?
They are exactly the same on the DDJ-400. EXACTLY THE SAME. That includes feel, quality and material. To me they literally just ripped the guts of the DDJ-400 and placed it here. That goes for the Pads too! Pads are slightly bigger. They feel the same as well.
The FLX-6 UNIT is literally a bigger DDJ-400 with 4 channels, 2 Creative Features, Booth Out and a much better Jog wheel.
    3. Does it come with Serato DJ Pro and Rekordbox DJ for Free?
    Yes and yes.
    4. Inputs and Outputs?
RCA for Master and Booth. Microphone In yes. USB Bus powered only. No PL or XLR outputs.
    5. Is this for you?
For Pros, I wouldn't get this. The things pros need aren't in this unit. For beginners though, yeah it's a good unit to start and play around with.

So I have very outdated laptop, and I'm looking for a new one so everything runs smoothly. There's many options and I'm sure there's people that are going through the same thing when it comes to deciding what they need to get the job done. Maybe you can make a episode on a basic breakdown on what you should look for and what to expect when it comes to budget. ✌

I'm so glad this came out as a budget type option to the 1000. Going from a $250 to a $1000 controller is a really rough jump budget wise. Having a middle ground controller is exactly what I needed. The only things missing from the 400 are deck selector and 4 channel mixer, and this gives me the only things I was missing from the 400 to make it perfect for me. Will definitely upgrade to the flx6 when the time comes that my wallet can afford it!

The four channels at mid-price range is huge benefit to the FLX6 from the 400 to people who DJ Drum and Bass (like me), where more focus is on track selection and mixing. Think I might have to pick this up, two channels just isn't cutting it anymore, four allows for much more creativity and control over the mix!

The main purpose of the mergefx is for transitioning it out from one song to another, be it jumping genres, bpm or just transitioning from one song to another quickly. It’s not meant as a build effect but can be. It’s meant for beginner or mid range DJs with a little bit of a budget. Use it like the way it was meant and the usefulness of the merge fx will be clearer

Was on the fence between this and a 400. Decided to go with this because it's basically a 4 channel 400. Also, if I bought a 400 then I'd be upgrading to a 1000 vs if I went with the flex 6 right off the bat, I'd already have 4 channels and a pretty decent controller I can grow with.
If I upgraded to a 1000 from a flex 6 it would be like after tax season and if i was really feeling confident with djing and my skills are around intermediate/advanced
I suspect I'll be in the beginner/intermediate for at least a whole year while I actually improve with beatmatching and my mixing etc and learning waveform patterns and genre styles before I'd need a straight up hardware upgrade that really just adds build quality, in-jog displays, and better fx on the mixer.
Not to mention i don't need the massive outputs bc I'll be a purely bedroom dj/ occasional house party dj so there's no need for club style outputs

Great to see that Pioneer can make a controller that works on both softwares! I personally disagree with you though. I feel that if you have an existing controller like the SB3 or better, and are looking to upgrade, look into spending the extra money for something like the DDJ1000. Worth the money, and XLR main outs and the same jogs as CDJ’s are unbeatable in a controller.

      @AT-wl9yq Před rokem +1

Don't let the xlr outs stop you from getting one of these if that's the only issue. Almost all controllers are not balanced. In order for balancing to work, both pieces and the cable have to be balanced. If you don't have all that, the connection is single ended, and even though you are using the xlr jacks, its the exact same thing as using regular rca cables. The 3rd pin on the xlr cables are not used. I have a DDJ 1000. The xlr outs on it are not balanced.
If you need a real balanced connection to plug into something like a night club system, its not a problem. You can just use a direct box (DI). That converts the signal to balanced after it leaves your controller to make it compatible with the other components.

if you want a 4 channel mixer, this might be a cheap option. But for the price, the offer would be too expensive for me. The device is basically an improved version of the DDJ-400. but the difference in price doesn't justify the few improvements. Save a bit more and use the DDJ-800 or DDJ-1000 if you want a pioneer device and depending on whether you prefer 2-channel or 4-channel. Or one is still waiting for the new advanced controller products from Pioneer.

The idea of a cheaper 4 channel controller is good, but for me pioneer kinda failed some things. they could remove this interesting, however also a little bit useless merge fx which can easily be replaced by some more beat fx and therefore lower the price to about 450€. Put some more outputs on the back like an xlr for more variability, make the design smaller and boom the price fits the product well. Less effects or a smaller design for 4 channels is a deal which many people are going to accept that are not willing to buy the ddj 1000 due to the price. The price for the flx6 is kinda too high for the target group i think.

Thanks for the great review, I wanted to get my hands on one, but now I am having second thoughts. The ONE valuable redeeming point for this controller is the ability to use Serato and Rekordbox. I wish Pioneer would understand there are many DJs that want to use either tool depending on the event, music style, preference or feature availability. I would happily pay a nominal fee to "unlock" my controller of choice to use both. This is akin to the mobile carriers locking you into a phone. It's an archaic and draconian way to maintain a customer base, handcuffing us to a single solution is a great way to motivate anyone to look elsewhere. In regards to the tech, I think the FX wheel is a novel idea for beginners to impress a party crowd, but without the ability to accurately time your drops it could easily backfire when it misses a break or brings the music back on an odd note. Also, no external input for an iPad or source? There have been a few times I have been rescued from computer carnage by cutting over to a track on a spare device while I CTL+ALT+DEL, however I get this may not be a consideration for a beginner / party DJ device. My final note, no RGB pads - seriously? Fine for beginners but as you step up your game and create your set, RGB pad colors are a necessity. Skimping on this minor cost in manufacturing has me saying "no deal"...

    Hi DJ Carlo
    I have couple of questions…
I upgraded from SB3 to FLX6 but honestly I feel more confident so far on SB3, I was very excited that I can have 2 outputs but for some reason the booth output didn’t work at the same time with the master out. So is it either or?? Am I doing something wrong? Is it related to the software? I’m using virtual DJ.
Also I downloaded the rekordbox but then I realized that I will be loosing all my hot cues saved on virtual DJ. Is there anyway to transfer this to rekordbox?
Lastly, I feel the jogwheel here in flx6 is a bit less sensitive than sb3. When I wanna set an accurate hot cue, it doesn’t allow me to move smoothly and it jumps over the waveform not in milliseconds.

Pads are a let down but those jogs are awesome on a controller of that price tag. Thing is it's weird by putting all this trickery in there even a guy that actually uses it to scratch or mixes without the "cheat codes" will get look down. Like when they added sync on to the CDJs but this one go above and beyond to bring trickery to the user. The DJ community is scary and with Covid it's even scarier. If you can't beatmatch vinyl with your eyes closed and your foot you're a poser. I don't know how this happened. From a technical standpoint most musical instruments are a lot harder than doing beatmatch but somehow every DJ has to feel like they work for the Circe du Soleil. The FX blend and scratch feature seems too "standarish", it will get old fast but for 600USD with those jogs and compatibility on both Rekorkdbox and Serato? Can you help me? I bought the DDJ-400 in July to test out DJing if I like it. Now I’ve spent more than 100 Euros for tracks on Beatport, iTunes and Amazon MP3. I already uploaded Sets on SoundCloud and Mixcloud. Etc. Do you think the FLX6 is a good option to upgrade for full size jog wheels or should I first continue with the 400 and see if I should get a 1000 if I continue my DJ thing?

    • @creepykoek7129

I also started with the ddj-400, learn the basics and some pro dj skills, an then (just like me) when youre ready buy the DDJ-1000 its so much better in all aspects. You have more knobs and features to play with. The flx6 however has features that you rarely use.

Also ddj800 if youre okay with having only 2 channels, but personally I would get the ddj1000 so I could master 4 channel mixing techniques (I dj techno and dnb so mixing with 4 channels is not necessary but kind of crucial)

In my honest opinion it is too expensive. No xlr or trs outputs, which is a big con in my opinion. Also pitch faders are too small, no knobs to choose effects or the channel which it affects.
Only pros of this unit are merge effects and jog cutter. And while those are interesting concepts, I dont see myself using them too much.
You can get way more for the price of ddj1000 or ddj800.

The purpose of this controller is to give a DDJ-400 or DDJ-SB3 user a next step up to experience and be able to practice a 4 channel setup with large jog wheels. If you're a gigging DJ who need professional outputs, the DDJ-SX3 and DDJ-1000/SRT are some of the more suitable choices. The FLX6 is for the beginner or hobbyist that is ready to expand from the limitations of their entry level controller.

For $400 it's a flop. It's like they wanted something to go against Numark's Platinum Fx and this was it. The Platinum Fx is only $250. Pioneer isn't giving you Serato DJ Pro and Rekordbox for free. It's been added in the price. There is nothing about the controller and it's features that suggest it should cost much more than the Platinum Fx except the included DJ software.

The price tag is not attractive for a beginner controller. The rule of sales is if you’re willing to pay asking price then you have an extra $200 to $400 to spend over the asking price. So with that you might as well get a pro unit that’s quality and have pro features. 🤷🏾‍♂️

i had to downgrade from cdj 1000 nexus and djm 900 nexus to these after losing a job and bills taking priority. of course, not as good as the 1000s BUT a great option for the price if you cant afford those, which i couldnt at the time.less effects but to be honest, i dont need to use them that much. The only thing I dont like about these is the size of the tempo adjuster, would rather it be longer as it can be quite sensitive. zero complaints otherwise. great bit of kit if youre on a budget but get the 1000 if you have extra money. won't be swapping these out until i have a full cdj setup again as there is really no need to
