  • Dale Kreviazuk from UV Pools shows you how to shock your pool. What you need is a large bucket, a stir stick and some chlorine shock. What you want to do is fill a bucket at least half full with water from the pool. Next, you want to add about a pound of shock in the bucket and then you want to mix it up til it's fully dissolved. Anytime you're dealing with shock you will need to be careful as shock is a concentrated chlorine so if it splashes on your clothes will bleach them. Once it's fully dissolved you want to go find the jets in your pool returns and you want to slowly dump in the dissolved shock on front of the jets so we'll slowly dump half over here in the deep end and then we'll dump the other half in in the shallow end on front of the others jet. The reason we dump the shock in front of the jets is so the current takes chlorine with it and circulates it in the water. It's best to shock at night or earlier in the morning so the chlorine is not dissipated quickly by the Sun. If you shock your pool and it is still cloudy you may need to shock it second or even a third time.
