Its hard to get Stevie’s tone because he played basically non-stop with heavy gauge strings and his hand muscles were crazy strong. Really impressive playing

I've seen quite a few live performances by SRV playing this and in my humble opinion, his 1989 Austin City Limits performance is bar none his best! He was clean, sober and no one will ever match the intensity and fire that he possessed. With that being said, I applaud you for tacking this and making it your own, take a bow, job well done sir!!
I remember watching Stevie play at Austin City Limits. It was hypnotic seeing him play. People can cover his songs but one thing that NO ONE can emulate is how effortlessly he played. He was one with his guitar. And the emotion he had when he played.....after he got sober and clean.
I prefer the coked out SRV myself. So sad he got clean and died shortly after

usually not a fan of "relic" or faux aged guitars, just buy a new axe and put your own marks on it. these things usually make better wall art than playing instruments... BUT this guy nails the playing style and tone of Stevie so well that I think I'll make an exception. bravo all around. great cover.

The problem with that is that newer guitars have a stronger and more resilient paint that doesn't exactly wear down the same way. But I do agree, it's much cooler to see your own guitar age with you

W O W ! ! ! I've never been a fan of Voodoo Child, but WOW. That was amazing. You should attempt a cover of Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner which would be a really tough cover as he included Americas involvement in the Vietnam war in it. It is one of the most amazing electric guitar pieces ever!
