- On Sunday, October 28th, 2018 the Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts ran the charter on Connecticut’s Valley Railroad, featuring “double-headed” steam power with 2-8-2 New Haven 3025 and 2-8-0 locomotive 97 (Alco-Cooke, 1926). Also, 2-8-2 No. 40 (Alco-Brooks, 1920) joined in for a special photo OP for members/riders of the excursion, but we were able to see go back and forth a handful of times because the Valley Railroad was using #40 for their Hand on the Throttle program. While trackside I ran into many other familiar railfan faces including Robert Youngblood check out his channel: bit.ly/2ml6wAz & metrokrailroad check out his channel: bit.ly/2NnI2Vx. A shot out to my parents for also enjoying this train with me and my dad for doing the driving. Please enjoy the Halloween decorations and the fall foliage colors in this video while watching the trains go by. Note the Scanner frequency used is 160.695 AAR 39R/87T
Programming note; I only really chased the doubleheader one way "North" as there were changes to the original schedule, plus I was satisfied with where I left off. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Although I didn't attend this event today, I think it's awesome to see that Valley Railroad #97 is back in operation at the Essex Steam Train! That's my favorite locomotive they have and I'm glad that it's back in operational condition. Love seeing it double head with #3025 and it was also great that #40 was operating today as well.
Thank you for watching TomedysTrains originally #40 was supposed to double head with 3025 but since just getting 97 back into service they don't want to use her for the Hand On Throttle program which the Valley RR was using #40 for. I think they still did the 3 steam photo shoot but it got changed to a different location and time, it was supposed to be at Deep River. So everything was switched around yesterday which made some of the local fans a bit disappointed and confused.
Me too it's been quite a while since the 97 last operated
Glad to see No.97 Back in service, Beautiful Engines! Great Video!
Thank you very much for your kind comment Tristan-Rail Productions, greetings trackside from along the Valley Railroad. Yes, it was great to see her and really all of the Valley Railroad's steam locos in operation.
Great video! 97 has an amazing whistle.
Thank you for watching Whistle Productions, why yes she does. :-)
One awesome video. I enjoyed the lash up of the two steam locomotives. Tanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching Nick greetings from along the Valley Railroad aka the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat. This was my first time seeing a real steam doubleheader, it was an awesome sight to see.
Great to see 97 back in action
Thank you for watching Eastern PA Railfanner611 yes it was great seeing her and all of the Valley Railroad's steam going strong.
I Commented on this video Months back, But Great video! Sorry for the Inconvenience of My Miner Mistake on my Cagney Miniature Train.
Thank you for watching Tristan Rail - Productions same channel, and no prob..
Great shots. Excellent video Adam.
Thank you for watching Hans greetings trackside from along the Valley Railroad in Connecticut. It was an awesome sight seeing all this steam thankfully for the railroad, the volunteers and preservationist.
Wow 97 finally back it's been a long time since she last was under Steam
Thank you for watching TexasRailfan21 yes it has a been some time since she was last fired and running under her own steam.
This is one I want to go back to and film. Haven't been there since the late 80's. Especially gotta see the double headers. Great footage Adam.
Thank you for watching Chris, and your comment. Yeah, have to check their website also the MBBE to see if / when they will do this again. Pretty sure the Valley Railroad would do a doubleheader again with how successful this event was.
Good to know #97 is back in the saddle! Great video!
yes absolutely & thank you for watching TheBlueComet832
Awesome Video! The event was amazing as I also went.
Thank you for watching Trainmaster Productions, yes it was glad you had a great time too, the Valley Railroad really put on a great show.
It would be great if you got to do that Hands-On throttle program with number 40
Would be nice but at 550 bucks I will pass... There better priced programs out and for way under 100 bucks I will be driving a trolley.
the $20 dollar trolley event in Baltimore this Nov 3rd you get to also drive a trolley for 20 bucks.

Thank you for watching and commenting here Dave means a lot thank you, greetings from the Valley Railroad in Connecticut. Ohh was this really a great event was my first real time seeing all this steam all in one day on the same location/railroad. A huge thanks to the volunteers, Mass Bay RRE, the Valley Railroad itself.
Awesome! I see you got some steam trains in
Thank you for watching Nate greetings from the Valley Railroad in Connecticut. Why yes I certainly did get that steam in, this event even though it was changed around a bit it was still awesome. Saw lots of other railfans whom its always nice to talk to while waiting trackside for the trains.
@@LibertyRailfan Your welcome Adam. Sounds like you had a fun time while catching the trains at the different spots ;)
I wonder if a tripleheader can happen one day in the future? Well time might tell!
Only for an extremely special event, some sort of ceremony commemorating something would have to be backed by at least one or two historical societies to make it happen here.
Other tourist RR operations around the country could make it happen, providing they have the equipment and crews. Multiple Steam locos used to operate daily at Steamtown in Scranton PA, Strasburg PA could make it happen, also Cass Scenic Railroad that I know of perhaps a few more.
Now all we need is to restore that little tank engine that sat their for years and then we would be in businesses
Thank you for watching TrainOtaku, ahh yeah that would be cool if they can it running.
It would awesome
Nice to see that Chinese built engine still going strong after 30 plus years
Thank you for watching Railroad,Preserver,2000, yup I agree.
@@LibertyRailfan I'll be up here this june on the 5th or 6th I think
@@RailPreserver2K cool just be sure to check the Valley RR website to make they are supposed to be running on the day(s) you want to visit.
@@LibertyRailfan my grandmother and I did they're only running Saturday and Sunday but we're planning our trip so that I can ride the train Sunday with a friend of mine that I'm meeting up there
how did ypu know this was gonna happpen? will they do it again? what is their schedule for christmas
This was posted on their website several months in advance. They might do it again next year. Find out all their information on their website.
As waldwickperson said was listed on their website www.massbayrre.org/ it was on there for months ahead of time. For the regular schedule of the Valley Railroad, yearly operations check out their website. essexsteamtrain.com/ Besides me lots of other railfans knew about this train too, not counting all the riders who had tickets they all knew about it too, lol.
All those damn commercials drive me crazy!
Helps to pay the bills for me, so I'm not complaining!
This is not going to help me in one way but in another possibly but I made some changes to my new monetized videos for my channel:
I disabled:
Overlay in-video ads
Automatic mid-roll ads
I am keeping enabled:
Monetize with ads
Skippable video ads "beginning of video"
Non-skippable video ads "beginning of video"
Sponsored cards "On the Video Drawer"
All users who are monetized or not, CZcams does get money from your videos even if you don't monetize
Display ads are shown by default.
I will see how these new settings playout.
@@LibertyRailfan Thank you.
