This was a mild storm. This storm surge is not bad at all. The problem is that the coast has been moving inward for a long time. When your house is way too close to the water, a little surge is a big problem.
A hundred yards away, people were going on with their lives.

This is my hometown county. I don't think I would be able to safely retire back to my hometown of New Smyrna Beach, even though I miss it so much. 😥
