    Do China clays chips easy if you like splash the pot?

    I love your videos but it's funny how subjective poker chips are. I actually prefer no slipping with my chips and heavier chips. I hate when a stack is slippery and doesn't stay straight stacked.

    Would any good or harm come out of oiling The Majestic chips?

    • @Hobbyphilic
      @Hobbyphilic  Před 7 lety +1

      I've tried this, when new it kind of helps them look nicer. Just be sure you don't soak them in oil as it is possible the label may come off - I don't know I haven't tried. Other than that, oil away! For sure they don't accept oil like Paulson, CPC, TRK or BCC chips.

    You mentioned in another video a concern about lead. What about a lead test from a hardware store? Very simple to test surfaces for lead.

    • @Hobbyphilic
      @Hobbyphilic  Před 6 lety

      Yes, a couple of years ago I decided not to try that. It seemed like too much of a liability and seemed ill planned. I would rather send the chips to a lab. I decided not to do that as lead in chips is not high on my list of concerns as I wash my hands, and keep all suspect chips away from children. If anyone decides to try it let us know the results and if it influenced your purchase decisions. Good comment, thanks for watching.

      I'll give it shot and link the results. I was planning on a china clay set, but your concerns are legitimate. I have little kids running around, and would rather not worry about that.

    Why do they smell? I don't mind it after a while. Does the smell eventually fade away?

    • @Hobbyphilic
      @Hobbyphilic  Před 6 lety +2

      Not really sure. I've spoken with many people about this and we think it's VOC. If it is VOC it should fade over the years. I don't have a keen sense of smell and mine don't smell anymore after ... 3 years? hope that helps, thanks for watching.

    Dont the china clays have a metal slug inside also? Several of the other reviewers have mentioned a metal insert.

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme Před 2 lety

      It depends entirely on the set. Some China clays have metal slug inserts. Some don't. If you watch some of his China clay chip reviews, he breaks some of the chips in half. Those chips obviously don't have a metal slug insert.

    • @Kevin-he3ew
      @Kevin-he3ew Před 6 lety

      Hobbyphilic Apache will have acrylic pharaoh plaques in months to come! I currently have their current plaques and I like them, but I think the new ones are going to be better. I like to say again I appreciate your videos. I've committed to a good amount of China clay pharaohs. I wish the quality was at Paulson level with the same design. That would be perfect. Paulson pharaohs are superb quality I'm guessing, but the design to price ratio wasn't worth it in my opinion. Far later down the road I would probably want Paulson chips, but I haven't found any design I like yet. I feel like the China clays have a small advantage when it comes to design for companies. I don't know, it seems like it's easier to make an intricate design like cc pharaohs and still make a profit.

      Because they were a limited time only group buy. If you really love the Championship Poker Series design, then I highly recommend you get the King of the River chipset from BR Pro Poker.
