    Special thanks to Alex Ramos, Kiilani goo-vidinha, Jacob Bisby, Ben Bundy & all my patrons
    The $20 bass is a Roytek found at a flea market a while ago, it is very dirty and damaged.
    The $620 bass is my signature Davie504 bass by Chowny;

    The $5,000 bass is from Supra Basses, many thanks for sending it to me! (last time I checked it was $5,000 USD, but there might be a discount price now)

      @lfox02 Před 6 lety +3

      임채현 That's like saying that a 150€ guitar is no longer a 150€ guitar just because you put new strings, which you should do before a recording session. The set of strings is not part of the instrument. You're going to have to change them sometime if you don't want your bass sound to be completely dead.

    • @since1876
      @since1876 Před 6 lety +7

      Nick, he's actually right. If the goal is to play a bass you bought for 20 dollars, then adding ANYTHING to it makes it cost more than 20 dollars, which ruins your goal. I understand what you're saying but for the purposes of a video that requires a budget, then you don't get to use the same rules as you would in a recording studio.

    I'm a guitarist, and I'm more used to the Fender Jazz kind of sound. So on the normal finger technique I actually liked the 20$ Bass the most :D However for slapping the Davie504 was the best sounding. Funnily, the most expensive one had a crystal clear tone but wasn't as warm as the 20$ and not as crisp as the Davie504 Bass on slap.

      Honestly, you don't build guitars (I do) you would know that it is a combination of wood and electronics. So that $20 guitar can sound like a $ 650 with the right pickups. No piece of wood is worth more than a few hundred dollars, but if someone slapped a hefty price tag on it, you immediately think it sounds like heaven... nuts, pure nuts I say. Sure the $20 bass won't be setup the same but if you suck on a $20 guitar, you'll suck even more on a $10,000 one. Ok

      ItzBacon Nah, it completely depends on the genre you're playing. A bass with a flatter sound usually fits better in a EDM/House song, where a bass with a more ringing and rich timbre would sound out of place and not fit the other sounds at all.

    • @funtpacecoof
      @funtpacecoof Před 6 lety

      Well that's one that would be a little different mic'd up and recorded vs hearing them live and in person. That said, with bass you can pretty much skip the amp altogether and plug in directly with naught but a cheap pre-amp. The sound will vary by different recording methods and equipment of course, but just for the purposes of making a video an expensive amp is pretty unneccessary.

    One thing we can't experience though is how it FEELS to play each bass. Great instruments make you feel like you have the wind at your back and work with you.
