    Wood pellets work great in these rocket stoves, easy to store to light with denatured alcohol , makes a nice campfire

    Light it on the TOP - Thats how these work. Cut your branches to fit just below the top vents, stand them on end and light them on the top. You can also put in a grate that has smaller holes on the bottom, and use barbecue type wood pellets - theey last a long time

      Yeah in the 3 years since making this video I have a good system- installed the pellet adapter and heat deflector- does an amazing job pushing out some heat and the pellets go a long way!!

    I like that the Solo Stove contains the ashes so that you can dump them later. Seems a lot safer. And it doesn't have a lot of parts. Just the main body and top.
    Thanks for the video.

      We have used this little stove so many times! It's great for campsite ambiance, easy to load with branches and scraps of wood, and it does produce a bit of heat also! I've been able to exercise some self control with the fuel loading and have made some amazing meals with it. Enjoy yours!

    When did you get yours? I ordered on August 11 directly from the manufacturer and received mine on about September 21. I have Solo Titan for several years and took it with me from Montenegro for a family reunion to Boundary Waters, Minnesota for a multi-day canoe trip. I just tried my new Campfire on the past weekend and I can say it is the Beast - very powerful! However, it can be tamed for milder tasks. Your test is actually a challenge for the stove, demonstrating that it can handle a tiny amount of food without burning it! Solo Campfire could boil 6-8 liters of water without problem, taking into account that Titan can handle up to 4 liters easily.

    • @MULTIPLESHOTSFIRED
      @MULTIPLESHOTSFIRED  Před 3 lety

      That's crazy the delay for yours- I ordered mine on Sept 10th from the Solo website, was promised early October but received it on September 20th. It is a great little fireplace/stove. We're planning on using it with our Winnebago Revel when boondocking. Very well engineered little unit.

    This is no critique, but just a tip, since you mentioned being health freaks. Maybe see if you can replace your plastic cooking ware, as each time it comes into contact with heat it'll leak a bit of chemicals, onto your foods. They say the food grade (5) plastic is all safe, but still better stay away I'd say :)

    This is definitely the size to get IMO. Because it doesn't radiate heat well but does boil water and fry food well I don't even know why the bigger ones are popular

    • @MULTIPLESHOTSFIRED
      @MULTIPLESHOTSFIRED  Před 3 lety +1

      After having this and the larger solo stove I agree with you. The larger one goes through wood like crazy and as you mentioned the radiant heat is very poor. We use the campfire all the time.

    Quick question, do you think we could use the solo stove in our wood burner at home? We have a large wood burning stove ( clearview stove ) with 30cm hight, the solo stove would fit in there (this is for worst case scenario) and we could leave the door open to feed the solo stove and also make sure enough oxygen is provided.

    • @MULTIPLESHOTSFIRED

      Just got back from my camping trip to the Smoky Mountains. It got down to maybe 50 or so at night, this little stove can keep you warm if you are right up next to it. It's not a substitute for campfire or a solo bonfire, but it's not bad. Did a hell of a job on my teriyaki chicken dinner though!
