      That’s awesome. I’m trying to break it down into small chunks. There is a crazy amount of information. Let me know if you have any questions, but I’m gonna keep making more videos that break it down in a simple manner. Keep going!

    I remember learning the CAGED systeme when I first started learning. It was tough but I feel like a much better player and I am able to play with bands better after learning theory. I have four more gigs coming up later in July if you want to come out.

    I always thought it should be the circle of fourths. Because I - IV is a lot more common than I - V.

      If you go the other way for sure. Makes sense to me. I think the best thing you can do to apply everything is use the major scale as a blueprint for everything and then go from there. Like how to make a minor seven chord...just take the 1 b3 5 b7. Learn all of your modes and chord extensions from there. The Chord Wheel is really a great way to makes sense of the musical families and keys.
      It's so hard for new players because there is a crazy amount of information to break down. I guess we all have to use it in a way that works for us. Thanks for the reply and keep going.

    Just noticed that the Major 3rd is the relative minor of the next note on the circle. Never noticed that before. Also, a question - is your tele tuned a half step down on this? I am having issues matching some of your notes. It might just be me. But I match them moving down a fret.

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  Před 2 měsíci

      Yep, that is a really good catch by you. It's crazy how deep music is. It's more like a galaxy that never ends. ha. And...From that major third to the next Key is a minor third. For example, E to G. It's like a spider web. ha. And...yes...sorry about that. I should have told you I was tuned flat. I will make sure to check that and point it out on the next video. Keep going jellyfish!

    I'm a beginner. Tom Quayle talks about 11 intervallic functions, ascending and descending. Could you help me understand what that means and how to practice/memorize these positions?

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  Před 2 měsíci +1

      No worries at all. There is so much to learn, so take it slow and just connect the dots over time. Tom is a great player. Do you understand how to apply intervals to just chords? Check this out in the meantime and I will research what Tom is speaking about. I bet I could make a cool video that would help you and others. Keep going and let me know if this makes sense? czcams.com/video/R9DtRG-oV1U/video.html

      @@mrelmoresmusiclab you are awesome, thank you suggesting that other video! The way I understand it, if I can somehow memorize the position of all the other notes in relation to the root note, I'll be able to build any chord I want. So, I just need an exercise to train my fingers to find the intervallic functions when the root note is on the 6th string, 5th string, etc. but like you said, I'll take it slow. You are a great teacher, thank you for the videos you make!

      @@chapter-saulo My pleasure and you are spot on with what you are saying. In fact, this would be super beneficial to what you are thinking too.
      Triads are the skeleton to everything we need to learn. I made this one because I specifically tell you to focus on the root note. I will be making so many more of these, so stay tuned. I just watched the Tom Quayle video and the part you spoke about is great, but you will still need to break that down into chunks. Keep doing and thinking what you are thinking. It's going to work. Let me know if this one helps and keep going. :) czcams.com/video/YTs4HIKqPpg/video.html

    In a C, F and G loop progression, is it OK for the lead player to play the F chord notes when the rhythm player is playing a G chord?

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  Před 2 měsíci

      Great question, it really depends on exactly where you are in the chord progression. In your exact case I would play in G Mixolydian. G Mixoldian has a b7 which means it would be an F.
      In the end you just have to use your ears and try and start soloing over the chords. It's funny because I just did an impromptu livestream about soloing over chord changes. Check it our and let me know what you think. You might need to skip around and find the parts, but it will definitely help you out. In simple terms think of it as the notes all being the same. They are a family of notes that belong to the same key of music. Like fact famlilies in math. For example....2+3=5, 3+2=5, 5-2=3, 5-3=2....2,3,5 are a fact family. Music is kind of similiar. So i the key of C major the relative minor is A. It's just something you memorize over time. So be patient and let it connect naturally. Keep coming back and I will do what I can to help.
      C = C D E F G A B C
      Am= A B C D E F G A

      @@mrelmoresmusiclab So is vi ALWAYS the relative major of I when "I" is a minor chord? It looks like "iii" is the relative major of I when "I" is a minor chord.

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  Před měsícem

      @kmabarrettyt You are correct. When you are in a major key, the six cord is always the relative minor.

    • @mrelmoresmusiclab
      @mrelmoresmusiclab  Před měsícem

      Just relate everything to the major scale. The I IV V are all major chords. The ii, iii, vii are minor chords. So the I is always major and the vi is always the relative minor. You will get. Don't worry.

      Agreed, I think the wheel is just there to help you understand, but you have to do it the way you said it. Use the wheel to connect the dots, but go find it and apply it on the guitar in a playing situation.
