I am an "old" actor been around for 50+ years, and this is the first time I've seen and listened to Howard Fine. I can see why he wanted to teach. Absolutely simple and eloquently put.

LUUUUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVV Howard Fine!!! He contributed so much to my work. I went back to square one with him (in the '80's) and went up from there. The head of casting at Fox turned me on to him because my auditions were not not as good as they'd been previously. As I said, LOVE him! I remember he turned me on to the Boleslavsky book "Acting the 1st 6 Lessons".

I'm 62 and just started out. I've had one paid speaking role but I've done lots of unpaid gigs. Often there are pros also keeping up their skills at those unpaid jobs, or you could be working with the next gen of directors who may remember you.

Hi Howard, I am a practicing actor from India.. I have a question if you could please take it... Why do some actors look convincing but u always know it's the same actor playing a situation whereas sometimes there are actors who not only play the situation honestly but they look completely different being ... If you could explain why does that happen... And yes, Thank you for putting all these amazing interviews for us to learn...Love and Regards

Just wondering, what if the character judges her/himself does that go against the idea NOT to judge the character?
From three years ago so you may no longer need this but…if a character judges themselves, it’s likely out of insecurity, find out where that lies and comes from. even if a character is judging themselves it doesn’t give you the right as an actor (not as the character) to pass judgement on them or what they do. Harold says in this video that you’re ‘always the hero in your own story’ and I think that rings true whether the character actively judges themself or not, even when you do you never *fully* believe in it.
He's right about people in line at a coffee shop. The biggest assholes are the people ordering with their pretentious stupid ass coffee they order and how precise the ingredients they want in their coffee

Sorry but those list of actors aren't the greatest actors. Yeah they are A list but they aren't great actors.
Juliette Lewis said it the best. She said you don't need acting classes. You either have it an are a natural or you don't. They can't teach that in any class. She's absolutely right. Just like you either have a personality and you are a people person or your not. No school is going to teach you that. Maybe if you need a voice coach for an accent but that's it. You don't need a coach. We are all actors. Every day you play a role or a part and different roles all day long. Did someone teach you that??? No
