Aloha Sharla, I'm so happy that you are posting more. I have missed you terribly! I hope life is getting better for you. I was hoping to see outside in your town soon? What else are you looking forward to this Spring? I'm wondering if you and Norm will vlog together soon? I like the humor that you both share. I've been a bit melancholy so far this year. It came in with a few disappointments. One, I had to move. There are few rentals here after the volcano took out so many last year. We ended up in a not so great looking and small place. It is cooler up Mauna Kea. I have been watching ideas on how to make small places work. Any ideas? Where do you put your stuff? Are there any apartment living ideas or small home living ideas that might work for me from Japan? I also use a wheelchair most of the time. What is accessibility like in Japan? How do people with challenges get along in Japan? Is the bus accessible? Are the Olympics changing your life much there? I was wondering if the Volcanoes affect your health sometimes? Okay, for you or anyone past their first year of living in Japan (you live tax free the first year, I've heard): I've read that if you live abroad, you have to pay taxes back to your home country along with those of the country you're in. Which country do you find you've had to pay higher taxes to? Of course, this will vary from country to country, but what has been your experience?

Hey Sharla. I confess that I stopped watching your channel when you moved to S. Korea. Japan is my main travel intreset. Although I'm happy you're back in Japan and creating videos, I'm sad about the circumstaces. I'd love to see you do vlogs about Morioka and show us why you love it so much. Take care!

Probably not, the way the CZcams algorithm works you need to post as often as possible or your channel will go down the drain. Keeping up with two channels is a bit too stressful :(

@@sharlainjapan Isn't it possible to upload the video's from that channel to this one then delete that channel? That way you have all the video's together, the old videos will get extra exposure and it will help with algorithms. Just label them as re-uploads to help avoid confusion.

I can second the first point -- I'm fluent in Korean to an intermediate/advanced degree, and I've noticed over the only few days I've gotten back into kpop and kdramas a bit that it's done wonders for reminding me of the Korean I already know and helping me form more natural sentences, along with occasionally teaching me new words.

I believe the tea difference is western green tea is usually roasted where as I think Japanese green tea is just dried, giving the western green tea that bitter flavor. I looked into this when I got green tea at a Japanese restaurant and it wasn't totally different. So then I started looking for Japanese style or non-roasted green tea

I remember watching your home stay and it really inspired me to go travelling around smaller Japanese towns/cities. I don't like crowds at all, and the way you talk about Morioka is making me want to check it out now! When I first started watching around 5 years ago all I wanted to see was Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto but now I want to go to the Japanese countryside more than those big busy cities. I feel like Chris' series inspired me as well :D

living in a smaller area is just so much better if you are not a city person. the community is just so warm and welcoming compared to a city where everyone's worried about their own lives.
while i was already interested in moving countries before discovering your channel, your channel always provided motivation to keep working towards that goal. ive been living in southern japan here for almost a year now. used to suffer really horribly from anxiety and i havent had any since arriving. every day i work hard on my language skills and i hope to make my home here.

Yeah, I relate. Been living in Japan half a year now and I don't get homesick and I dont expect to. I don't think it makes you a bad person. I call my parents every day or at least as often as I can to update them on my life and how school is going.

I just want to thank you for everything. You are the only person that has always been there for me. I always knew that I just had to push a single button to find a person online who is so similar to me and can cheer me up. A lot of the times I felt so lonely and you always showed me that I'll never be alone. I know that you have been through some hard times as well right now so I just want to say all of us are so thankful for your hard work and for your lovely personality.
