Where's Mason been?? Hope all is well.
I use Lithium batteries on my bikes too. A bit more money, but well worth it. I bring the battery in, in the winter and put it on the trickle charger every once in a while. My oldest lithium is on its 3rd season, no issues.

will have my new, but modified 2022 KLR out in a day or 2......the thing about KLR's...they don't always get you there first...but....they always get you there!
Just brought my 07 KLR back to life after having the head off (almost gave up on it). Had my Masons ADV t-shirt on when I pushed that start button on May 4th and it started right up (the wife was wearing her Swanky Cat t-shirt). This was no small thing. That first test ride after almost a year being down was sweet. Fell in love all over again. Your videos are a huge help. Thank you!

I love the first ride of the season. The smell of the exhaust against the cold wind and the feeling of being let loose after the winter is great.

It's great to see you back out. I see you were out last summer in my neck of the woods by Aylmer .Lake Erie way. If you are ever down in southern ontario again let me know. My buddy and I will show you around on some really nice gravel and blacktop roads.

So after much hesitation, yesterday I sold my Kawi green 2014 KLR. Sad day indeed. It was my first bike, purchased slightly used in 2018. Such a great bike, many adventures and memories (and a ton of pics). I just wanted to thank you for all your videos and advice, I’ve truly enjoyed every post. Of course, I will continue to watch your content, but with a slightly different perspective, as I enjoy my new ‘23 KTM 890 Adventure.

Just got out a for my first good ride from Sudbury to Elliot lake , was super nice to get out. I can relate to the gear hiding everywhere in the house , I did that same dance 😂
Just recently picked up an 08 KLR and am in the process of rebuilding the top end (685), adding a bunch of extras and bringing all the maintenance up to date. I've had her out for a few short rides, but she was going through oil at an alarming rate... Looking forward to getting back into the ADV world!! Subscribed!!

It's really good to see you out on your first ride this year your trusty Ole KLR sounds strong as ever. Speaking of which, my KLR is dead right now with a catastrophic motor failure. I was on my annual trip to see two of my buddies down in Virginia the first week of April. We were meeting up at the New York, Pennsylvania line to ride the Mid Atlantic BDR south into North Carolina. I found myself about 270 miles into my mile crunching part of the day just outside Cleveland when the motor decided to not be a motor anymore. I was cruising along at 75mph when it started shaking and coughing. It completely died on me and would not fire up again. I ended up bringing it home in a U-Haul truck. When I got home, I pulled the motor apart to find ground zero to a bomb disaster, lol. The main rod bearing ware the connecting rod connects to the crankshaft went. The whole motor looks like a tub of silver glitter was poured into it. The piston even scored the cylinder walls. I'm looking at a full rebuild. It's actually going to be cheaper for me to replace the whole motor, unfortunately. My plan is to put a motor in it and enjoy riding it for what it is for the rest of the season and putting it up for sale in the fall. I still love the bike but I'm looking to get something more suitable for long distance highway. I'm planning on buying a 2014 or newer Yamaha Super Tenere over the winter and have it read for the weather to break in the springtime.

Here in Africa I can ride ALL year round, lol now snow here; in fact I like more riding in the Winter!

Hey mate! Nice Vid, have my KLR off the road, gotta put new chains, sprockets, change filters and fluids, straighten my KLRDASH bent it from a drop, and try and plastic weld the nose fairing as it cracked down one side from same fall.
I have a pelican hard case on my back rack and was wondering if there's enough room to mount the reckless 80 system across the pillion seat so it wont get in the way of the riders seating position and the side bags don't interfere with the riders legs? Don't want to waste $1200 plus postage and find out it wont fit. I keep camera gear in the pelican because it can be locked and also locked to the bike. Do you know if the reckless will fit with the pelican or know of anyone with the same setup?
