    All of my Japanese friends who have family or friends living in Okinawa eat LOTS of meat EVERY day. The only time Okinawans could not eat their normal, healthy diet of meat, especially pork, was during WW2 , when animal protein was not available. High protein from meat is the Proper Human Diet. The only person to die from cancer in my family of heavy-meat eating farmers, was a life-long vegetarian.

    On the AKG study I recall that Adam Antebi's presentation showed that AKG was elevated with low insulin. In mice I think. Would be interesting to do a controlled trial in humans in which diet and exercise regimes, without AKG supplementation, were employed to yield different insulin levels and see how this correlated with natural AKG levels as well other important metabolites.

    Very interesting! Dr. Kennedy, has your group by chance done any lipidomic studies on old vs. young (mice or people), or youthful old people vs. regular old people? Or people in those blue zones vs. other places? Curious....

    How do blue zone lifestyle and habits based on pooulation studies help the west. Surely we need modern science based regimes and technology to make fundamental changes and improvements at the level of biophysics and biochemistry.

      Surely we need to simply ape what the people in Blue Zones are doing: move more, eat less crap, and hang out with people rather than stay in.

      @@nkenchington6575 certainly sounds more feasible than moving somewhere where there is clean air, freshly grown organic produce, no stress and walking up the slopes of the Andes or Mt Fugi every day!😂

    I like Dan's indirect and negative comment which was clearly directed toward Bryan Johnson: "...these Silicon Valley billionaires who
    lived stressful lives and now they've added being a militant vegan and working out four hours a day and shooting their themselves up with the blood of their children seems to me to be prolonging a crappy life..."

      To each their own. There certainly are biohackers and health enthusiasts who enjoy this kind of lifestyle. Not that it is without risks if you think about an overlapping pathology like orthorexia.

    No dairy I wonder their bone health? I consume cows plain yoghurt for calcium and protein according to Australia dietician guidelines, 1300mg for me. Dr Gabrielle Lyins advocates for protein to provide essential nutrients for muscles & bones with resistance exercise.

      It's a misnomer that dairy markedly helps develop bones. The only calcium cows get is from the grass they eat. Much better to eat vegetables high in calcium yourself.

    Sorry but Dan does not know anything about longetivity but rather how to be a vegan. I live in Sadinia and we eat meat, cheese, drink wine and eat local veggies. Nobody does 6,800 steps where i live, sorry

      It is in the center of sardinia that people have exceptional longevity. Where do you live in Sardinia?

    • @ccamire
      @ccamire Před měsícem

      @@Battery-kf4vu Isili is almost the center of Sardinia. I talked to 3 different families and they never heard of Blue zones and certainly did not eat like that. This is the same for Costa Rica, people are so poor they can afford to eat meat. They only eat what they get from their gardens.
