The fight choreo was amazing, and I thought they did a good job at distilling the characters. That's hard to do in a short time (cough Cowboy Bebop cough).
It felt like an alternate universe one-off and not an attempt to recreate the original.

Agree! Definitely had that AU feel to it vs staying super true to the original story. And I think that worked for them!
