    Saying "we are destroying our planet and therefore we need to go to mars " is like saying "I am moving to the desert (or Antarctica) because my house is dirty and need repair).
    Don't get me wrong, I love the ideal of going to mars, I just think that exploration suffice as purpose to go to mars. I hope we find bones or even living things under that desert like surface. Ah yes, let's remember to take good care of earth.

    • @NOWUNITEDUPDATES
      @NOWUNITEDUPDATES Před 5 lety

      Muuip the budget of NASA is not that big. It’s like 999 of people will fix the house while the other one is going to the desert to explore if they can live there, just incase. Just search Mark Rover who worked from NASA, explaining some of your questions.

      Poor analogy there actually. It's more like saying "humanity isn't likely to up-end its wasteful economies, separated by political tensions, in time to keep earth from hitting the proverbial iceberg. Therefore, we should look to start fresh". So if the house is on fire and you're leaving, that's accurate.

    She seems like an intelligent person, but besides the technical difficulties (her father says that by 2033 they will have 'perfected' the technology to go to Mars, but that is not a certainty) there is also the possibility of a malfunction at any time during the mission. People have romanticised living on Mars. It will be virtually identical to living in a desert on Earth (only far more dangerous) which nobody thinks is fun in the slightest. Nevertheless, good for her for following her dreams and I wish her the best!

If however it is landing, staying for a few days and returning to Earth, although a guess, it is unlikely that could be accomplished before 2045 or even 2050 as you say. Who knows, perhaps we'll be surprised and a landing will take place long before that! As long as it's not a 'Capricorn One' scenario... lol

    We all want to do things that will be remembered by our generation and the future generations as well. We want to be remembered as a very important person in the timeline of human history. We all want to do great things and want people to think we're great, but in the end not everything is what it seems... Human's can be very cynical... These dreams we have are inspired solely by our own arrogance. We want people to look at us as someone who is better than them because that's the ultimate goal for a human... We strive to be better, but the inclompete thought is to strive to be better than everyone... This girl has dreams, but to see her talk about being the first person to physically walk mars is something I see as cynical. She puts in hard work to die unforgotten, not to benefit mankind. We do things to be adored and loved by our fellow humans, and this is exactly what she is doing... Be the first person to mars be my guest, but think to yourself if what you truly are doing is just because you want to be remembered, or because humanity's longevity is of your priority.
