But that game was a HOI4 Battle Royale, now we have something different.

I can say this is a massive event of hoi4 that shows the unity and dedication of the hoi4 community. It is a pleasure to see a competitive multiplayer game that can be associated with e-sports, even if it isn't considered to be one.
Man I kind of wish they did completely random nations now, letting them put Dankus on the USSR guaranteed a win.
I asked Dankus on his video showing his USSR heavy tank strategy what’s the counter and iirc it was SH3 made by one of the Axis minors to help Germany.

I honestly prefer the team games like this over the 1v1’s. It just feels more grand and closer to home in terms of experience
Only problem is that you’re more likely to end up with games like this i.e way too short. You can’t balance things half as well and nations having overpowered focus trees etc is much more likely. There weren’t any cool moments in this great game unlike the first with Budapest holding, Italy being saved and then capped, USA invading the west coast of Spain while three factions battle it out in Europe, etc.

I mean its hard to say. But Goldens opinion is possibly right. The axis were to unprepared for the mod and didnt even set up the DD Wall.

The fact that dankus palyed Russia instantly made the game unbalanced. I mean the German player was way weaker than dankus so yeah

It's either the skill diff between teams or an unbalanced mod. Could be both. Anyways, great video! The editing made it really entertaining.
I'm the thinking the former. The entire axis played like monkeys with a Germany that can't kill France and needed Italy and Romania to do it, get encircled like an AI in barbarossa and no D-Day wall. The tournament organisers and mod developers spent a lot of time trying to make the game as fair as possible so I don't think this was the issue.
@@googane7755 Everyone asked about the mod said it is favored towards the allies atm, although having a weak axis roster didn’t help. After the teams were picked all of twitch chat called allies winning and surprise surprise they did. Rosters should have had team captains for more balance, not random.

this is the mod for the bokoen multiplayer community, they spend a lot of time balancing it. While it is slightly allied favoured they still get very even games often, I think it was more of a team balancing issue in this case.
Definitely both, while allies are favoured axis still has a very good chance of winning. But it doesn't help that the player rosters aren't exactly fair.

Hope next game is better. This was too unbalanced for the Axis and giving USSR to Dankus was the straw that broke the camel's back.
The allies where to OP in this session. I mean, they gave Brazil to the US, and made Japan grind hard in China.

@@lilkurva180 Exactly. Normally you would need to coordinate with the players of those countries for production, but giving the US direct control over the resources makes production easier. It's weird that the palyers agreed to that.

i think it would be beneficial to make it a round based competition, such as one team on axis and one team on allies, then they swap, and a coin toss to determine which side for a tiebreaker.

I was hoping for a more well balanced game like the first great game, the soviets absolutely destroyed germany
I really think it would be a more fun and more fair if it was a best of 3. It would take a longer time and would be played over 2 or 3 days but it would make it a lot more fair because a single mistake or a choke could end the whole thing.
Other than that, I think this is the best hoi4 content out there! Keep it up!
Maybe switch sides after one game so axis plays as allies in 2nd game.
If both teams win one game each and even it up, check what date the peace deal happened in their respective wins and who even got an earlier date picks axis or allies for the decider
Problem with this is that the one team that plays the allies first would get an advantage (since the mod seems a bit unbalanced at the moment). I think Axis vs. Allies can work, and you are right that a best of 3 (or 5) is probably necessary, but I think they need a specific mod for tournament's that allow a more balanced game without negating the flavor of the two sides of WW2.

The allies won way too fast. From an entertainment point of view that was not fun to watch. Maybe it was the players not being good or me not understating but it felt that the allies were way to strong against the axis.
Tfb has a reputation for being a shit mod around the comp community and I kinda agree so noone actually plays it. The axis players all play oak mainly and there's a few newer players on their team as well so + and the mod got switched a few days before great game. The mod is also very ally biased.
@@AA-qr4dj yeah tfb is completely balanced around Bokoen games, and they don't play super competitive. Also a lot of the players in this game didn't really seem very well versed in the meta of this mod so they were making a lot of bad decisions build wise.
@@AA-qr4dj I wouldn’t say the mod is very allied biased. It’s an air mod so the allies have an advantage if they can make planes. But the axis can win easily.

as soon as I saw dankus was russia and he got a co op. I knew it was over. maybe the axis would have had a chance if they hadn't made so many mistakes.

Yeah, Dankus Russia needs to be nerfed w/ either having no co-op (cause Dankus sucks at macro) or giving the German player a coop, cause they clearly could have handled a bunch of shit that the Germany made mistakes with.
@@ayathados6629 exactly. it should have a Germany co op instead of Spain. I feel like Spain ended up not doing much. not knocking them, they just ended up not being that important. I bet the game would have been way different if it had been two co ops, or no co ops.
Good content and was going good at the beginning, with the China war and Spanish civil war. Sadly to many mistakes and blunders from the Axis, a too long campaign in France resulting in no Africa campaign and the allies completely free to focus on a D-Day and Japan. Also one of the problem with dankus heavy tank is that they are maybe too strong. It’s Barbarossa after all, with on one side a German army with the experience and doctrine that work on France, and a Soviet army disorganized and underequiped, issues that was addressed during the war resulting in a soviet victory. So if Dankus is able to push and make great maneuvers in 1941, there is a problem. Russia would not be able to get almost a full row of doctrine, as those where developed during the war, and have a debuff to doctrine like France in the early game.

I think perfect mod for this would be World Ablaze which is more balanced Axis vs Allies game, there as the soviets you must spend huge amounts of xp to reform your army or you will be obliterated (In my first playthrough as the Soviets I focused on Doctrines and well, i got steamrolled in 1941), which simulates status of Red Army perfectly. World Ablaze is more focused on historical Allies vs Axis.
i think even if soviets were debuffed dankus stil would have won. axis were just so weak at the start of barb that if russia was nerfed the soviets at least still would have held the river against them rather than push
@@GAMA830 well yeah but they won’t have lost immediately, the axis would have pushed a bit further in the Soviet line but not at the doorstep of moscow
Maybe a better format for team games is a best of series where both teams swap sides each game? That sort of seems more fair if there are some unbalanced aspects to the game. Only problem is that it could days and days to finish, so maybe book in for Friday/Saturday/Sunday 6 hours a game and if they don't finish by then get an independent board to determine who won?

@@azoniarnl3362 why? no normal russia would ever not hold the stalin line in this mod, except the mod we were meant to use instead has mechanics to force a forward hold (lose equipment and war support for towns in front of river taken in first days of barb)

Ussr is hard to micro because it has to manage the main front and finland alone. Germany can delegate the d-day defence to another player and focus solely on eastern front while also having help from romania/bulgaria/hungary

The Axis def could’ve won, although the mod and teams seemed to be slightly ally-biased, the axis just made mistake after mistake in France and beginning of barb, making it so they definitely had no chance

I think maybe a good idea for another great game could maybe be a form of 'pick and choose' but in a funky kind of way.
For example, there are x amount of players in a pool, and the first two to be chosen are the team captains.
The team captains can then take turns choosing who they want on their team, OR can choose a country. So for example, If Grisha and 7D were captains, Grisha could choose Dankus while 7D chooses a nation like the UK. So if there are 16 players total, both teams take turn choosing either a player or nation. Obviously nation picking will need some restrictions or rules so 1 player doesnt just get USA, GER and USSR in their first 3 picks, but I think it could be a pretty balanced choice rather than the huge ez landslide random choice from a hat that caused this whipe (not to say it wasnt a bad game, just maybe onesided.)
Because if the teams keep choosing 'the next best thing', then it will leave both teams with fairly equal teams. And with there being 3 super majors, there could possibly be 3 teams rather than 2.
And for the choosing system, depending on the type of nation, (minor, major, super major) could depend on if that team then misses out on their pick for an extra turn or two, leaving them with less choices, and only being able to have whats left in the end if you understand what Im getting at.
