Thank you for this video!! I made my whole family GIANT stockings I did 40 stitch rounds instead of 28 with chunkier yarn and they're literally the size of my 3 month old twins. I'm going to put them inside the stockings for pictures this year and they will last forever! I did all different color patterns for everyone and we get so many compliments! Thanks for explaining this so well, it's so easy to follow :) Merry Christmas!
This video helped me understand the written instructions *so much better* - I was sure I couldn't do the heel, but after watching you show visually how to do it, I see it's actually quite easy. Thank you!
Thank you! This turns out absolutely beautiful. So impressive! It looks fantastic in a cream wool mixed with grey acrylic. Still masculine enough for my husband. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have 7 stockings to make this year for my coworkers & wanted them to all look different. Your tutorial was great & so easy to follow & I love how you do the heel. I hate having to weave in ends.
Thank you so much. It is just what my daughter envisioned for her family. This will be their daughter's first Christmas and they will have 3 beautiful handmade stockings. Your directions and video were great!
Lovely stocking and easy to make. Your video was extremely easy to understand and I enjoyed it. Thank you for taking your time to share your recipe with all of us. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Have a blessed day.
Thank you so much for the video, the written pattern was helpful, but I always like to see something done as well! It turned out lovely! It is masculine enough that my son-in-law is going to love this as his gift!
What a lovely stocking! It was easy enough that I crocheted along with you and completed the project in record time. I've always been a little afraid to do a sock because I thought it was too hard for me. Imagine my surprise......! Thank you!!!
OMG, you are the first person I've seen that makes a slip knot the same way I do.. And, we hold our yarn an crochet the same way. I was looking forward to trying my first stocking, got discouraged cause I couldn't find one I liked, Until, I found this video.. I'm so excited to make this. I have 2 wips I need to finish first but I'm now encouraged to get them done quick 😊👍 Thanks for sharing this video, I'm now a subscriber 😍 Tammy in tiny RI 😎
thank you so much for the video tutorial great pattern my now go to for stockings yes I had to watch it few times cause working the heel is challenging for me but I finally mastered it very happy
What a great video!! I have looked at dozens of tutorials for crochet stockings and you are very concise and clear. I especially like your heel. I have learned to do several versions of heels because I'm trying to master making socks. Thanks again for a great tutorial.
Just was looking for a fast cute stocking for my decor this year. Im super happy to have found your tutorial! This is an amazing one. Very informative! The only thing id like to ask is if you can make it a bit larger and longer? Like if i add more in the cuff and the stockin part will it mess up the look of it? Its Beautiful id just like it a little bigger! Just was wondering! Tfs a great tutorial! New sub here. Hugs Debbie.
i love that you count for us during this tutorial! i've been crocheting for years but have never had the confidence to try a stocking, but after your video i'm going to give it a try! thanks. just one question, if i wanted to make this better i just have to increase stitch count in the round by 2's??
I'm working with a chunkier yarn and I also wanted it bigger, so her system is 28 on the main, 14 on the heel (half), then decreases - I am doing 32 on the main, 16 on the heel, two more two rows for a consistent decrease - so far things are working out just fine.
Cheryl Anne I made the ribbed cuff with all half double crochets working in the back loops. I crocheted 32 single crochets along the cuff. I had 13 rows of the single/half double crochets, made the heel as in tutorial and crochet 9 rows of single/half double crochets, then sc2tog twice evenly per row till I was at 17 total stitches and sewed toe closed. It was still pretty small.
Whatever sized hook your yarn calls for. I used a 6.5mm with worsted weight (4 ply) yarn for a lacier look that wasn't so tight and it worked out fine (and a little bigger than my 4mm hook)
Not easy to follow. Had to keep going back and rewatch 3 or 4 times. The camera is too far away. Where is the written pattern that you keep referring to? Still not sure what happened after 23 mins. Did you work in rounds to get the foot part or chain one and turn?
The written pattern is on my website and has been all along. The link is in the comments or you may go to www.pattern-paradise.com and search for Cozy Cottage Stocking.
DO! NOT! CHAIN! 2! &! SKIP! A! STITCH! AT! THE! BEGINNING! OF! EVERY! ROW/ROUND! WHEN! WORKING! WITH! HDC!!!! Trust me! Instead, only chain ONE (1) and work a hdc in the same beginning stitch of every row/round. That way you won’t have an unseemly gap or hole in every single row/round ☺️ You’re welcome. Also…. Why even do the slip stitches when working up the cuff??? It literally looks no different then when you DON’T use them. Omit the slip stitches all together when working the cuff and instead just simply do rows of back loop hdc. It’s easier and works up a lot faster too.
6.00 mm - you can get the material list and all the information in the written pattern on my website, it's linked in the tutorial, but here it is again: pattern-paradise.com/2017/12/04/free-crochet-pattern-cozy-cottage-christmas-stocking/

Great tutorial. You were very easy to understand. Love this stitch. The only thing I might change is make it a little wider but easy to do. Thank you!

What size hook are you using?

I am curious about this as well
Hi! If I were to use 4 weight yarn and I wanted to make it larger, do I just need to start with an odd number chain in the beginning?
Did you ever figure it out Olivia? It saddens me when designers do not respond.
Looking fo an answer to this as well.
i love that you count for us during this tutorial! i've been crocheting for years but have never had the confidence to try a stocking, but after your video i'm going to give it a try! thanks. just one question, if i wanted to make this better i just have to increase stitch count in the round by 2's??

This is really nice! What are the multiples of this pattern, please? I would like to make it larger! Thank you very much!
Cheryl Anne My cuff had a total of 22 rows!

Thank you for this information. It is very helpful! Can't wait to get started! 🙂
I made one with worsted weight yarn, found it worked up too small. Going to try to make another same yarn but with a few adjustments
I want to use worsted as well. Did you manage to make a bigger one? Im wondering how many chains to start with.
Okay so what size hook?
Whatever sized hook your yarn calls for. I used a 6.5mm with worsted weight (4 ply) yarn for a lacier look that wasn't so tight and it worked out fine (and a little bigger than my 4mm hook)
I get it now sorry still want pattern
Please don’t say recipe, I get hungry!!!! lol the correct word is instructions!!! Love your video! 👍🏼 good job! Thanks 😊
I really like this, but my cuff looks flat, no ridges.
What size hook??
Use a J hook. :)
Where is the written pattern??? I don't get why this is so small???
In your video when you are making the toe you keep referring it to the heel!!! 😂
Not easy to follow. Had to keep going back and rewatch 3 or 4 times. The camera is too far away. Where is the written pattern that you keep referring to? Still not sure what happened after 23 mins. Did you work in rounds to get the foot part or chain one and turn?
I agree. Hard to follow and turns out too small. Not a usable stocking for putting stuff in
the funny thing is, you can get the pattern from her side who bring you to ravelry and there she want money for the pattern
The written pattern is on my website and has been all along. The link is in the comments or you may go to www.pattern-paradise.com and search for Cozy Cottage Stocking.
The dimensions are identified in the written pattern.
The pattern is free on my website, the Ravelry version is an ad-free PDF for those that prefer that.
