Make your own 'files' for the nut slots on your guitar.

I use drill bits as a saw. We all have them and in most sizes to fit the string gauge perfectly.

I have to try and all kind of gimmicks and expensive tools from stewmac I figured you can make nut files of any width, slot bottom profile, aggressiveness etc. Just get a hacksaw blade, infinitely variable, cut it down, thickness on a grinder.

Are these flat blades with teeth on one edge, or rounded needle blades, with filing surface all round?

Vulcan...the teeth are on one side only.

Yes. They work badly, and cause more harm than good, but they work.
