Can CAR Speakers be Used for GUITAR? Skar, 5 Core, Jensen, Celestion
Can you use speakers that are made for car audio in your guitar cabinet?
Each of these 4 speakers are played as clean, overdrive and distortion - side-by-side - so you can ACTUALLY HEAR the difference between all of them. I'm using a 1995 stock Strat (neck pickup only) through a Bugera 333XL amp. Mostly, I'm playing one chord quickly so you can hear each speaker in quick succession. I improvise BRIEFLY through each speaker at the end of the video.
You'll be listening to 4 popular 10" brands: Celestion Ten 30, Jensen MOD10-35, 5 CORE 60 Watt 4 OHM Sub Woofer and Skar Audio FSX10-8.
You're welcome to rank them in the comments section. Which one is best? Worst? Of these 4, which one would you put in your cabinet?

Here is a side-by-side comparison of a guitar speaker cabinet with four 10" speakers and a cabinet with four 12" speakers. Price, looks and materials didn't matter. I had the 12" speakers as extras. I later purchased the least expensive 10" speakers that I could find. I used 1/4" plywood fastened onto pre-fab bookcases. If you were to use 2 amplifier heads - one for each cab - you could then tw...
Making Another Speaker Cabinet

Making your own guitar speaker cabinet can be fun and rewarding. This project uses common materials to make a speaker cabinet for 4 10" speakers. Step-by-step, I will show you how to build the cabinet from scratch through to wiring the speakers in series, using just a jigsaw and a drill. Of course, you can make your own cabinet using a combination of speakers, either of different brands or size...

This home-made (hand-made?) speaker cabinet is finally done! Here is a sound test, listening for rattles, saturation, response and overall tone. Here, we're using a 1993 ES-335 in to the low-gain input of a Bugera 333XL amplifier. The cabinet is loaded with two 75-watt Celestion G12T's (bottom row) and a pair of 25-watt Celestion G12M. The back to the bottom speakers are fully enclosed, the top...
Making My Own Speaker Cab

I had 4 speakers that I wasn't using. Two of them were 75-watt Celestion G12T and the others were a pair of 25-watt Celestion G12M. After looking and searching for speaker cabinets, I decided to make my own. I found a quad bookcase that seemed easy enough to make into a 4x12 cab - and I had extra plywood to make the front and back. Once the bookcase was assembled, I cut the plywood to size and ...

A 3-humbucker loaded pickguard: will it work?

Wish I had seen this before I wasted money on the nearly useless (for guitars) welder's tip cleaner set. However, your method will make a flat bottomed slot. Shouldn't the slot be rounded?

Here's one for the books....I bought a lp std in 96. Never really thought it sounded that great. Had a Luthier look at it. He said just raise bridge .....nothing changed. High e string always sounded bad. Finally after 20 some years.... I lessened the tension by raising the stop bar. Sounds better, bends better.....

Take the chassis cover off and you will find the channel status led that hasn't been fitted to the panel, also the drive channel uses a famous chip like the one in the tube screamer with a couple of leds I suggest someone solid state trickery going on

I have an Idea why not just use the right size screwdriver? One that the deivers blade fits perfectly and that is wide enough? Then you wouldn't have to use a awkward popsicle stick as a screwdriver. Lol Grandpa always said use the right tool for the right job.

  • @Eric-fb2wp
    @Eric-fb2wp Před 17 dny

Lol. I hardly ever have a problem marring up a screw especially the screws on a tail piece. You must have totally over tightened the screws and or used a wrong size screwdriver blade. You laughed like the people that dosen't use a popsicle stick as a screwdriver is stupid or something. Its the other way around as first you use the right tool for the job meaning the correct size screwdriver. One that fits perfectly and having a wide blade. Which yours clearly did not.

Just thought you might want to know ... Your name should be "How Tos." Apostrophe s ('s) would be for possessives and contractions. Here, "Tos" is plural. Don't let all those ads and references to the 60's (sic) and 70's (sic) fool you. They're dead wrong. They should be written: the 60s and the 70s. Relative to your topic, here, I have a friend who once mounted a speaker to a piece of plywood (I believe it was 1/2") and used no speaker cabinet at all. It sounded surprisingly good. Less bass than a cabinet would have provided.

Ok let's get you educated if that's possible. On release many years ago now, a third party supplier was supplying plastic parts which melted after a couple of hours playing. This caused a short and most heads just went silent, not caught fire. This was immediately fixed by the company and no issues since.

I've done locking tuners on my Epi LP. When working on Bridge or pickup height with a PMS (pickup mounting system) you lose the set of strings. Can't get enough slack to remove the tailpiece. As for the roller bridge, I would not do will a hard tail guitar.

Intonation is hurt by strings bunching up at the nut. That's a problem of the nut slot not being wide enough. Slot depth has nothing to do with it.

If you put a "Quick Connect" in your guitar Jack location, and the other connector on your "loaded" Pickguard, you can swap all the electronics and Pickups in under 10 minutes, without any soldering. This makes one guitar as versatile as the number of loaded Pickguards you have. There's a short video on YT called "Tutorial: Quick-Swap Pickguards for Strats" that shows how simple it can be. I can swap a loaded pickguard on my Strat in about 8 minutes from loosening the strings, to tuning up with the Loaded Pickguard ready to go.
