Our comprehensive tutorial will equip you with the knowledge of fixing laptop overheating issues. From disassembling your laptop to cleaning the fan and heatsink from dust and applying thermal paste, we've got you covered. Say goodbye to overheating and hello to improved performance!
    * Laptop Disassembly Guide:
    Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    * Fan Cleaning Techniques:
    Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
    * Thermal Paste Replacement:
    Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. Nice one. But 2 things have to be mentioned - 1. The two screws above the hdd (not the ones that are holding it, but the ones hidden by it) don't really have to be fully removed; 2. You could make a full disassembly, but it's a good job anyway - you got my like. It's a good machine, despite being now old now. I recommend getting bios update A10 from dell for win7 users if haven't taken already.

    Great video - Thanks! I'd like to relay a couple of things I encountered in the hope it will help others. My first hurdle was removing the keyboard ribbon/cable from the motherboard from 6:00. The left side of blue bar over the ribbon/cable in between the socket and the keyboard is loose in the video, but when I got there mine was locked down. I had to push the black plastic left (as in the video) of the blue bar aside enough that the tab on the blue bar (which you can't see in situ because it's under the plastic you're moving aside) could release. You want to do this BEFORE you unplug the keyboard ribbon/cable. My second hurdle was unplugging the keyboard ribbon/cable. The wire with the blue tape you see him lift to pull the plug up is just a handle for pulling the plug out and does not lock the plug in at all. So rather than pulling up in the middle of the wire like in the video, it's much easier to pull one side up until that side pops, then pull on the other side of the wire to pop the plug off completely. The same technique applies to removing the display ribbon/cable. I do hope I've been clear, and this helps!! edit - I wish I could post a picture of the fan outlet/radiator interface - completely blocked...

    I don't like it when repair videos play really loud overly cheery music, but this shows that I don't really want pure silence either.

    can you remove JUST the fan, without removing the CPU heatsink assembly?
    will it "wiggle" out of there?

    What if the fan isn't working? it is not spinning

    • @howfixit
      @howfixit  Před 9 lety

      +BigJ try to spin it manually, if it spins after pushing couple times that's mean that problem in fan engine, if it won't spin then maybe you can try to put some lube on axis if fan rotation
